249 Underwater training

After "Hell Week", the training enters the second phase of BUD/S - underwater training.

The training program at this stage is also called "combat diving training". What Owen learned mainly included underwater survival, diving, use of underwater breathing apparatus, underwater navigation, destroying ships, etc.

Before the underwater training began, the irritable instructor Roger rarely spoke calmly to them.

"These trainings make you an eternal optimist. No matter how many enemies you encounter, you will never surrender and firmly believe that you can go home alive. So far, no SEAL has become a prisoner of war. Among the armies I have encountered, only Delta

The special forces have the same firm belief. They all have one sentence engraved in their hearts: It is better to burn to death than to wither away."

A simple sentence made the team members' blood boil, which seemed to mean that they had been recognized by the instructors.

Special Forces are just like people. Every member of the SEALs needs to have a certain length of rotation, and the same goes for Special Forces.

Although the SEALs are amphibious special forces, as a naval special forces, underwater skills are their main ability, so this stage of training is particularly important.

Owen was a little excited. After the physical training stage, especially after "Hell Week", it was definitely time to learn some skills. This was his original intention of coming here. As for the previous physical and mental breakthroughs, he could only

It's an unexpected bonus.

Strictly speaking, what he learned in SWAT was only a small part of the Army City Station. He had never been exposed to the sea, and he couldn't help but be full of expectations.

Other students also thought that the learning process of underwater training should not be as abnormal as physical training, and it would probably be easier. But it turns out that they thought too much.

It makes sense to put underwater training after physical training. They will learn more things next, but the training intensity is not less. At this stage, physical fitness is just the basis for completing those new subjects.

After the training actually started, Owen discovered that they had to learn far more than he imagined, including underwater survival, underwater swimming, scuba use, underwater repair of damaged equipment, underwater navigation, mine use, water reconnaissance and sneak attacks.

, submarine escape, etc. One subject after another, non-stop training, over and over again...

The first subject they learned was "The Use of Underwater Breathing Apparatus".

There are two types of underwater breathing apparatus for seals. One is an ordinary underwater breathing apparatus, which is the kind commonly seen on the market.

The other type is amazing, it’s called a closed-circuit recirculating underwater breathing apparatus. This is an occlusive respiratory system that does not produce bubbles when a person breathes, which is very convenient for submersible operations. Most of the time when seals perform submersible missions,

To use this, you must be proficient in both soybeans.

In addition to these, they also need to learn some theoretical courses, enemy psychology, knowledge of diving physiology, ocean tides and ocean conditions around the world, including the habits of various creatures in the ocean and inland rivers, whether they are aggressive, whether they are poisonous, etc.

etc., we also need to learn how to deal with all underwater situations, such as equipment failure, nitrogen poisoning, defuse underwater bombs, etc. There is a lot to learn.

At this time, some students will become sleepy due to boredom, and the instructor will not care so much. If they are good-tempered, they may put a tear gas canister with the safety pin pulled out into his hand.

If you have a bad temper, you may just throw tear gas next to him, so that he will never dare to sleep in class again in his life.

They conducted the first training "Underwater Survival" in the pool. The instructor hid under the water, suddenly messed up the equipment on the students, unplugged the students' oxygen tubes and exhaust pipes, and removed the respirators.

After tying the knot, students must untie it and return to the water within 1 to 4 minutes.

After simple exercises, the instructor led them to start practical exercises.

Instructor Brown asked the students to jump into a 3-meter-deep pool, and without prior notice, he suddenly asked the veteran team members he brought to take off the equipment on the students and tie a knot on the respirator.

Irving was completely confused at the time, his mind went blank, and he completely relied on his training memory to organize the equipment and untie the knots on the respirator.

This process took a full 3 minutes to complete, which was extremely thrilling. Later, Irving heard that the fast students completed it in 1 minute and the slow students in 4 minutes. Three students fainted directly in the water and were sent out for rescue.

disuse.

Then came the "Night Diving Equipment Exchange". Two students dived into the water and exchanged diving equipment with masks. In order to simulate a night scene, the masks were blackened and nothing could be seen.

This is actually not difficult to do, but Owen encountered a pitfall. After he and the students in the same group entered the water, Owen completed the action with dissatisfaction, but the other party made a mistake, and Owen was almost suffocated to death in the water.

After completing the basic skills training in the pool, we were about to go to Shanghai. The waves were rough, the sea water temperature was ten degrees, and it was ice cold. The students were fully armed and were sent to a certain location by the inflatable boat. The instructor Yun Danfeng pointed at the sea surface and said

: "Jump down and swim to the shore."

The students looked confused, and Owen even looked at the instructor with a "say it again, say it again" expression. But he was soon kicked down by the instructor and began to swim in SEAL style.

A thousand-meter armed swim is completely different from swimming a thousand meters in normal times.

After swimming for a long time, I couldn't see the coastline, and my whole body was burning. Even though the water was far below body temperature, I still felt like I was sweating non-stop. Soon Irving developed symptoms of secondary hypothermia. His vision became increasingly blurry and his consciousness became increasingly blurred.

It's dim, but the body still maintains the posture of swimming forward.

Someone gave up and stopped shouting in the water. Someone came to pick him up, pulled him into the inflatable boat, covered him with a blanket, and gave him a cup of steaming coffee or hot chocolate with white smoke, as well as hot bread and burgers.

.

This scene is so familiar. Irving refused it last time when he was on the verge of death, and certainly not this time.

When he woke up, he couldn't remember anything except the fact that he landed ashore.

Owen couldn't remember how he swam to the shore and what he had experienced in the process. He only knew that many people gave up. They survived Hell Week but gave up now. Owen felt sorry for them and was lucky for them. At least they

No need to endure the pain.

Of course, this is not without purpose.

In underwater training, you need to learn to use various warships parked in the harbor as training targets, practice water penetration, and become a real combat frogman. You also need to conduct long-distance swimming training of 9 kilometers in the freezing cold and endless sea water.

.

Infiltration is a specialty of seals. They can use the advantages of navy submarines to directly reach the coast of sensitive areas, and then use mini-submarines or kayaks to infiltrate and land, quietly evading conventional border defenses.

Seals not only have complete tactics and training in this area, but also have excellent equipment.

ASDS (enclosed underwater propulsion device) is a device specially developed by the Navy for seals. It can submerge for a long time and directly send frogmen to the coast. It is more concealed than a rubber boat.

Inland river boats shined during the Vietnam War. After accumulating a lot of experience, combined with the theory of firepower and objective needs, the speedboats modified became a weapon for inland jungle warfare.

Rubber boats have a wide range of uses, and their inflatable design makes them very convenient for transportation. They are excellent means of transportation on the water. Their low cost allows them to be abandoned at any time, saving a lot of subsequent trouble.

A seal must be able to master these equipments skillfully.

Although the SEALs who focus on reconnaissance have always avoided direct combat, everyone is proficient in using a variety of light and heavy weapons and has excellent handling skills. They can engage in tough battles at any time and withstand sieges with a small number of people.
