Chapter 42 60 Seconds

In the dim bathroom, Chen Ge sat alone in the bathtub. He breathed repeatedly to expel the remaining waste gas from his lungs.

Three forty-four in the morning is the intersection of night and dawn. He only has one chance, so he must be cautious.

It was quiet inside the house, and there was no movement in the corridor. The monster in the mirror didn't seem to come over.

Time passed by, and Chen Ge put aside the electronic watch he had specially found. When the number representing the time on the screen turned to forty-three, he became highly focused, opened his mouth, and began to inhale slowly.

The candlelight danced, and Chen Ge's body slowly tilted downwards. His eyes were on the electronic watch from beginning to end, focusing as never before.

When the numbers on the screen changed again, Chen Ge lay down in the bathtub without hesitation.

Three forty-four in the morning!

Cold water seemed to come from all directions, drowning him.

It's a strange feeling to sink into the water late at night.

Absolute darkness, as if I was the only one left in the world, sinking; absolute silence, I could only hear the sound coming from my body, and my heart was beating.

The cold water stimulated every nerve. Chen Ge lay at the bottom of the bathtub, abandoning all distracting thoughts and silently counting his heartbeats.

"Sixty seconds, just hold on for sixty seconds."

He had never had such an experience. The night and the water seemed to merge into one, and the faint candlelight was like a lighthouse getting farther and farther away, and he seemed to be sinking into the deep sea.

"One, two..."

After the first ten seconds, time seemed to slow down a lot.

The sound of water flowing sounded in his ears, and the walls were filled with darkness. Chen Ge silently recited his parents' names and kept the original movements. He held the handle of the kitchen knife with both hands and let his body be driven by the water waves.

The oxygen in his lungs was slowly being consumed, and Chen Ge felt slight discomfort, as if something heavy was pressing on him.

"Fifteen, sixteen..."

Every time the heart beats, it consumes oxygen in the lungs. As the heartbeat slows down, time seems to become slower, and every second is divided into countless segments.

The discomfort gradually became stronger, as if a pair of hands were slowly pressing on my neck, pinching it tight little by little.

Lying in the water, Chen Ge opened his eyes. He could not see anything through the water. It was as if he was trapped in another world.

After about three or four seconds, his face became increasingly ugly, not pale in the ordinary sense.

"How long did I hold on? It should be almost healed, right?"

The water flowed across the ears, and a strange sound suddenly appeared in the dead silence.

It seemed to be coming from the corridor outside the door. Chen Ge didn't know why he could hear it so clearly. Maybe the other party made the noise deliberately, just to distract him.

"Footsteps? Someone pacing up and down the corridor?"

His slowed heartbeat began to speed up again, and his body became nervous unconsciously: "Maybe the monster in the mirror is coming to find me. I hope the dolls can hold on, and I can complete the task in thirty seconds at most!"

His thoughts were running slower and slower, and there was a buzzing noise in his ears. Chen Ge was not in good condition. The footsteps in the corridor made him highly nervous. He carried on without being distracted and continued to recite his parents' names silently.

Counting the heartbeats.

"Twenty-eight, twenty-nine..."

Water poured into both ears, and the sound was slightly distorted. The footsteps gradually became more rapid, and the other party seemed to be trying to find a way to get in.

After a few more seconds, Chen Ge felt as if his chest was pressed by a huge boulder. The blood vessels on his neck slowly protruded. His hands and feet were cold, and his body felt powerless.

The brain's reaction is getting slower and slower, and Chen Ge now relies on his own will to persist.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Without any warning, something hit the door.

Chen Ge's heart suddenly lifted, the thing outside the house couldn't bear it anymore!

Maybe it was because there was a puppet behind the door. After the other party smashed it three times and found that the door could not be opened, he stopped this meaningless action and the room became quiet again.

It was still the same situation as before. The only difference was that Chen Ge himself could hold his breath for a minute normally, but the footsteps in the corridor and the banging on the door just now made his heart beat faster and he was in a nervous state.

Oxygen consumption will increase significantly.

He felt that he was reaching his limit, and the last trace of oxygen in his lungs was being squeezed out. Every second was a kind of torture for him.

"Thirty-nine, forty..."

When he counted to forty silently, Chen Ge felt dizzy. His physical condition no longer allowed him to continue counting silently.

Unable to distract himself, the feeling of suffocation became stronger and stronger. Chen Ge's consciousness began to blur, and he could not remember many things. He just instinctively recalled the memories of his parents.

The blood vessels are visible, bulging on the pale skin, the big muscles in his neck are moving, and the fingers holding the kitchen knife are gradually loosening.

He felt that he was on the verge of death, and at the same time he understood the sentence in the mission.

When time passes between night and dawn, you can see the people you meet on the edge of life and death.

The clear meaning of this sentence is that at the moment of transition between day and night, a person who is on the verge of death can see the scene of another world in advance!

Chen Ge stared at the water with unblinking eyes. His pupils were dilating. The water seemed to be getting farther and farther away from him. He didn't see anyone he met. There was only darkness in front of him, a darkness so deep that it was despairing.

My lungs felt like they were being squeezed, and it was an indescribable feeling of suffocation.

"No, if you continue like this, you might really drown in the bathtub."

More than half of the forty-fourth minute at three o'clock in the morning has passed, and the person Chen Ge wanted to see still didn't show up. He no longer had any illusions, or in other words, he felt lucky from the bottom of his heart. The fact that his parents didn't show up at least meant that they were still alive.

.

Holding the bottom of the bathtub with his cold arms, he used his only shred of reason to decide that it was time to give up.

Using his hands hard, Chen Ge was about to get out of the water when he suddenly felt something was wrong!

Something was holding his head, preventing him from leaving.

The dilated pupils suddenly shrank to a point. Chen Ge looked at the top of his head. There was obviously nothing there!

The puppets have sealed the door and around the bathtub. The monster in the mirror should not be able to get in. Who is causing trouble?

The blood vessels on his neck were taut, and Chen Ge's face was frighteningly ugly. It was a matter of life and death. He used his last bit of strength to hold the kitchen knife in his hand and wave it above his head.

After being deprived of oxygen for a long time, his body and will have reached their limit, like a spring that has been stretched to the top and may break at any time.

The kitchen knife was swung, water splashed everywhere, and Chen Ge seemed to have hit something in a daze. He only heard a crisp "pop" sound in his ears, and the power above his head disappeared instantly.

Without any further obstacles, Chen Ge suddenly sat up from the bathtub, taking in big gulps of air! bdshare();
