Chapter 53: If

"Chu, are you upstairs?" A loud questioning voice came from downstairs.

"I was upstairs, did you find anything?" Chu Long responded while flipping through the book.

No one responded, so Chu Long continued to look for what he was looking for.

When the tea in the tea cup was about to bottom out, Chu Long heard the conversation downstairs, followed by a burst of footsteps coming from far to near, especially from downstairs to upstairs.

Corporal Lin En walked into the study from the outside and saw Chu Long sitting at the desk, flipping through some unknown book. There were several books scattered on the table. When he got closer, he realized that they were all Bibles. He said with a smile

: "Bible! Did Jesus give you any hints?"

"Corporal, you were right this time. Jesus appeared. I can't bear to look at it anymore."

Chu Long pushed the record book and the words written on the paper in front of Corporal Linn across the table. "I found this in the gap between the two pages of the record book."

"This is?"

"A reminder from Jesus" Chu Long looked at Corporal Lin En and smiled.

"The name Gabriel spelled out in letters on the paper comes from the Bible," Chu Long said, looking at the notebook held by Corporal Linn.

"John is also a good guesser!"

"But this is too easy!"

"Are you trying to hide something by setting up this mystery?"

"If he doesn't have anything more valuable than a gemstone necklace, that should be the necklace we are looking for now," Chu Long said after taking a sip of the remaining tea in the teacup.

"Hasn't this been discovered by the murderer?" In the opinion of Corporal Linn, this guessing game is too simple. I'm afraid even an Englishman can crack it!

"The probability of this possibility is a bit low!" Chu Long rubbed his nose, feeling a little stuffy just now.

"Why?"

Chu Long stood up and turned to look out the window. His eyes fell through the glass on the Clayderman Restaurant opposite, and he said something irrelevant: "I'm a little hungry!"

"What did you say?" Corporal Lin En asked, looking at Chu Long facing the window.

"Ah! It's okay," Chu Long turned around and said. You won't hear it!

Seeing Chu Long's reaction, Corporal Lin En confirmed his guess. He thought he had heard wrongly. He said he was hungry!

Look, this reaction is real! Didn’t you just eat it? You are a foodie! Corporal Linn feels like Columbus discovered the New World!

"The bedroom has obviously been searched, but the study is extremely tidy. Except for the two people in the hospital, there is no chaos in the room."

"Besides, do you think the letters on that notepad are easy to spot?"

"The policemen searched the study all morning and found nothing. If I hadn't accidentally seen it while I was sitting here resting and was distracted, I wouldn't have discovered it."

"It shows how inconspicuous the letters here are!" Chu Long said, pointing to the notebook that Corporal Lin put back on the table and spread out.

Corporal Lin En pulled a chair in the room and sat in front of the table, spreading his hands to signal Chu Long to continue.

"Even if they are discovered by the police, they will only be taken away as ordinary evidence. Some of them will be too full to play guessing games."

"It's a bit far. If the murderer was a meticulous person, he might really discover this 'guessing game'. But after looking at the situation in the bedroom, I would never think that the murderer would find the clues and then read the book.

Slowly put it back on the bookshelf."

"Unless he's a book lover like John."

"Let's talk again..."

"Okay, I understand, no need to say any more." Corporal Lin En interrupted Chu Long's "Say no more" in time. He already understood why the murderer would not find out. It was just that he did not take away the Bible.

"Ta! Ta! Ta!" Chu Long tapped his fingers on the table one after another, watching Corporal Lin En say the last few words he wanted to add.

"By the way, the most important thing is that he didn't have enough time. There were more and more people on the street. The groom at the door would also enter the store because he couldn't wait. The patrol police had already started patrolling. All of this made the murderer unable to

That time is wasted."

"The appearance of Yaheng alone broke the murderer's plan, not to mention that he spent a long time searching the bedroom."

After listening to Chu Long's words, Corporal Lin En didn't say anything. He just sat quietly and thought about the possibility that Chu Long said!

Chu Long did not disturb Corporal Lin En. He stood alone in front of the window, looking at every pedestrian on the street, thinking about someone who said this in his memory: "The murderer often likes to go back to the place where his crime occurred and enjoy himself."

'results'."

But there are so many people on the street, who knows which corner he is in!

"If your speculations are true, will he be coming to the store?" Corporal Lin En leaned on his chair and asked Chu Long's back in front of the window.

"It's very possible, but the police at the door put him off, but he won't give up the gem necklace." Chu Long said while looking out the window.

"Inspector Upton's report said that John's safe in the bedroom was broken into by the other party, and the money inside was wiped out. Could the murderer have escaped with the money?" Corporal Linn said at the station

He got up, poured a cup of tea, sat back on the chair and asked.

"It's unlikely. Corporal, have you ever thought about why the murderer knew about that gem necklace?"

"John can't answer this now, and the other person who knew about this matter has passed away. However, I guess it is very likely that the murderer knew them when Mrs. Beverly was still alive, and had seen this necklace.

" Chu Long speculated.

"Why?" Corporal Linn asked his question.

"We have all seen the photo in the atrium on the second floor. In the photo, Mrs. Beverly is wearing the necklace. The photo was left by Mrs. Beverly before her death. The murderer probably knew about the necklace at that time."

"You may ask why we didn't meet each other when we were in London?"

"With the preciousness of this necklace and its eye-catching charm, it would be difficult not to attract attention, unless it had been hidden in a safe before."

"In Upton's inspection report, there was no mention of the gemstone necklace at all. People around him had no impression of this priceless necklace. This is incredible!"

Corporal Lin En drank tea and listened to Chu Long's analysis without saying anything, which fully demonstrated the good qualities of an audience.

"The gemstone necklace was most likely obtained when he went to France. Otherwise, there would be no news about it in London. The murderer knew that the necklace was in John's hands and that he had brought it back. He even saw the necklace in the bedroom.

, otherwise he wouldn’t have searched the bedroom immediately, but John hid the necklace for other reasons, so the other party didn’t find it.”

"According to you, no one has found the necklace now, and there is no other clue except the Bible, right?" Corporal Linn said, leaning his chin on the armrest with one hand.

"That's it for now." Chu Long sat back on the chair and said.

"Mr. Selt is really an unlucky guy. He showed up at the least time and place he should have appeared, and he ended up in the hospital because of his injuries." Corporal Lin En looked at Chu Long and said.

"If the coachman and Ya Heng had gone in together, maybe the situation would have changed!" Chu Long said to himself with emotion.

"There are not so many 'ifs' in the world, there are only established realities. We can only be busy afterwards and have no foreknowledge beforehand." This sentence popped up in Corporal Lin's mind unconsciously, and he said it immediately,

I don’t know if I’m telling Chu Long or myself.
