Chapter 748 Homecoming (1)

Duixicheng, southern defense line.

Randall, wearing dragon bone armor, shuttled among the soldiers of the Crusaders, walking all the way towards the collapsed tower.

Along the way, the Crusaders looked at him with many different looks.

Some people are curious about it, some admire it, and some people hate it.

But it is undeniable that Randall's experience in the entire Twilight City is not an exaggeration to describe as legendary.

However, facing these crusaders, Randall never thought of stopping. He only had one thought now - to see his wife as soon as possible.

Walking into the square behind the tower, hundreds of makeshift tents were toppled by the earthquake.

Carefully jumping over the wide and deep potholes on the ground, Randall went straight to a tent, took out the cloak he had prepared in advance, and said, "It's me."

A weak female voice sounded later: "Come in."

She put on her cloak and walked into the tent. Several female elf doctors were preparing for the delivery ceremony. Barbara was lying on a cotton bed fixed to the ground with her pregnant belly, her head covered with beads of sweat.

Randall nodded towards the female elf doctors and cast a grateful look.

No one paid attention to him, everyone was still doing their own thing.

A little embarrassed, Randall half-knelt beside Barbara, put on sterilized gloves, and gently wiped away the sweat on the latter's forehead: "How's it going?"

Barbara: "I know it's been a long time, but it's not yet time..."

Randall: "You can definitely stay in Duxi City. There are better medical facilities there. This is a battlefield after all."

Barbara shook her head and said: "This is what I can do. I can't stay behind and hide behind you."

Randall sighed softly and said, "There is good news. The earthquake has stopped and the sea has gradually calmed down."

Barbara looked up through the holes in the tent. The blood-like sky illuminated the entire tent a strange red.

Barbara looked at Randall and said, "But it's not over yet, right?"

Randall held Barbara gently in his arms and whispered: "The Dragon God is protecting us, everything will be fine."

The two of them cuddled together, ignoring the attention of the people around them, as if they were the only two people left in the world.

A dull voice broke the silence.

"We brought some gifts to Miss Barbara, are they here? Or?"

Barbara recognized the owner of the voice—the orc Carol.

Barbara nodded towards Randall, who said to the outside of the tent: "Come in."

Carol outside the tent hesitated for a moment and whispered: "We just came down from the battlefield and haven't had time to clean up yet..."

Barbara whispered again: "Come in."

Carol and Aldenan, covered in blood, carefully walked into the tent. Under the warning gazes of the female elf doctors, they obediently stopped at the door, not daring to move any further.

Carefully placing the honey, goat milk and fruits aside, Carol said to Randall: "The doctor said that these are beneficial to Barbara's recovery."

Barbara tried to open her eyes and asked Carol: "Why are you here?"

"We were assigned to clean up and search downtown, so we stopped by," Aldenan said.

Carol glanced at the pale Barbara, tried her best to turn her head away, and said softly: "We'd better wait outside."

After saying that, the orc walked straight out of the tent.

Aldenan shrugged at Randall and followed him out.

Barbara watched the two people leaving, gently squeezed Randall's hand, and whispered: "Go and do what you should do."

Randall nodded, stood up, watched the female elf doctor gather around Barbara, wiped and disinfected the latter again, then silently walked to the door and opened the door curtain.

A female elf doctor followed Randall to the door, stopped him and said, "Mr. Quinn, there is a question I must ask you now."

Randall: "Please tell me."

Elf female doctor: "Your wife's body is very weak, especially her heart... Giving birth is a very dangerous thing for her. I hope you are mentally prepared."

Randall's heart tightened and he nodded slightly.

Elf female doctor: "In case, I mean just in case... your wife's physical condition cannot continue to complete the birth, would you like to choose your wife or your child?"

Randall's hands clenched into fists, his teeth clenched together, and his whole body froze.

These few seconds seemed as long as a century.

Finally, Randall struggled to spit out a sentence: "If necessary, I am willing to give up the child."

The female elf doctor looked at Randall, her face slightly moved, but soon, she nodded vigorously, turned around and returned to the tent.

After making this decision, Randall seemed to have been drained of all his strength.

He leaned against the flagpole, looked up at the bloody sky, and sighed deeply.

Before he could sigh for too long, a harsh and urgent alarm bell rang throughout the southern defense line.

The alarm bell sounded so urgently that the bell ringer was so frightened that he even forgot to strike the signal.

Looking at the busy Crusader camp around him, Randall took off his cloak and strode toward the tower.

Before leaving, he took one last look at the white tent, where everything about him was.

Arriving at the tower of the southern defense line, Randall saw Carroll and Aldenan.

Seemingly seeing the confusion in Randall's eyes, Carroll said: "The situation is urgent. The Shaman Association and the Knights have issued an order for all combatants to enter the combat position as soon as possible."

Hearing this unusual order, Randall frowned deeply: "Fight nearby? How urgent is the situation? Can't even complete the basic front configuration?"

Carroll stepped aside and said to Randall: "Take a look."

Randall walked to the window of the tower, looked into the distance, and couldn't help but take a breath of cold air.

On the plain south of Muxi City, there are so many dead souls everywhere that you can't even see them.

Randall shouted in surprise: "Didn't they retreat?"

Carroll: "As you can see, they're back."

Aldenan pretended to be calm and smiled: "Like a fly in the kitchen."

Randall held the window sill with both hands and looked at the overwhelming army of undead like ants on the ground: "There are hundreds of thousands, no, hundreds of thousands... maybe more here."

Carroll added: "It's the same on the eastern defense line. Undead are all over the land... plains, forests, lakes, hills, everywhere."

Randall carefully looked at the undead that were marching towards Muxi City, and found that there were low-level undead, alien undead, and high-level alien undead that he had seen, and there were many more that he had never seen before and couldn't even call them.

The name of the undead.

Randall murmured to himself: "The undead's first attack was just a test. Is this their final attack?"

Carroll mentioned the giant ax and tower shield: "No matter what they do here, sleeping underground is their only destination."
