Chapter 4 Eating together

It was late in the evening when the entire scene was inspected. Fu Hongbin's body was transported back to the Forensic Identification Center of the Municipal Public Security Bureau. As for whether and when an autopsy should be performed, we still need to wait for his wife Gu Jingzhi to return.

.

Duan Mo was sorting out Liu Xintao's interrogation transcript. The mobile phone placed next to the computer vibrated with a notification sound. She finished proofreading the line in front of her before picking it up to read.

The message was from Xu Huaizheng, asking her if she was free after get off work and having dinner together.

The two have kept in touch, infrequently. They occasionally talk on the phone and send messages, but rarely see each other. The last time they had dinner together was at the end of last year. In order to thank him for helping to check the information of He Jingshan, the owner of Shanhe Real Estate, he helped her.

Xu Huaizheng also made several appointments with her after that, but the timing was not coincidental and he declined them all.

Looking at the transcript at hand, there was less than half a page left, so Duan Mo made a phone call directly.

Xu Huaizheng answered the call quickly, and his voice with a chuckle came from the receiver: "It's rare to call so quickly. Are you not busy?"

I send messages and make phone calls, and nine times out of ten I don't get a reply in time. The rest of the time, I usually say I'm busy and will contact you later.

"Who said I'm not busy anymore? I just happen to have my phone next to me."

It was very quiet around her. Xu Huaizheng guessed: "In the office?"

"yes."

"Are you free? Let's have a meal." It was rare for Xu Huaizheng to speak in such a teasing tone.

"I'm afraid that won't work."

There will be no autopsy today, but Lu Wuchuan has not returned from Xie Changyu's place, and he doesn't know if there will be anything else.

"Is there another case?"

Duan Mo didn't answer.

Xu Huaizheng understood that he couldn't say this and sighed: "It doesn't matter, I can wait. When you are free, let me know."

"Sorry, brother Huai Zheng, I'll treat you another day."

After closing the line, Duan Mo continued proofreading, typesetting, printing, and archiving the transcripts. After finishing all this, she was still the only one in the office.

Yan Yishuai and Lu Dongming went to the police station to check the surveillance video near Fu Hongbin's home, but they couldn't come back for a while.

Jiang Muyang followed Bao Sheng to the technical department, and he will probably have to work overtime tonight.

Lu Wuchuan hasn't come back for such a long time, and he doesn't know what to say to Xie Changyu.

Just as I was wondering if I should find something to do, the door was lightly knocked twice.

"Duanmo, Lu Jun asked me to deliver the keys." The person who came was Xu Xinran, secretary of the bureau office. He was holding Lu Wuchuan's car key. "There is a meeting over there, not necessarily when. Lu Jun asked me

You go home first."

Although his words and expression were normal, the gossipy light in his eyes could not be hidden.

Duan Mo was a little speechless. Even if it was a meeting, just take some time to send a message quietly. This was both a message and a key. Was it because he was afraid that others would not know the relationship between the two of them?

"I'll just go back by myself. Please bring him the key back." She was afraid that Lu Wuchuan would go back too late to call a taxi, so she didn't take the key.

Xu Xinran scratched his head and looked embarrassed: "Then...will the Army complain that I am not doing things well?"

Duan Mo knew he did it on purpose and glanced at him: "I gave him a message. During the break, you remind him to read it."

"Okay." Xu Xinran put the car keys into his pocket and raised his eyebrows, "Eh? You two...are you..."

"What is it!" Duan Mo quickly stopped him from continuing to think, "We live in the same community, so there's nothing wrong with hitching a ride, right?"

"Nothing wrong, nothing wrong." Xu Xinran chuckled, "Then I'll go back first, please pay attention to safety on the way!"

Duanmo took a deep breath and exhaled it heavily. She didn't have to have an underground relationship. After all, she had only been in the city bureau for more than a year, and Lu Wuchuan was her immediate boss. The relationship between the two was really easy to imagine.

She picked up her phone and was about to send a message to Lu Wuchuan. Halfway through editing, she remembered her previous call with Xu Huaizheng, deleted the words she had written, and re-entered it.

After clicking send, he dialed Xu Huaizheng's number.

He answered the call very quickly this time. After being teased by Duan Mo about being an operator, he laughed softly and said, "Isn't he busy anymore?"

"Didn't you say we would have dinner together? I can get off work now."

"Go right away and I'll call you when I get there."

Twenty minutes later, Duanmo saw Xu Huaizheng leaning on the back of the car and smoking outside the city bureau.

When Duan Mo came out, he put out his cigarette and threw it into the trash can on the roadside. He opened the back seat door for her, waited for her to get in the car, and then walked around to the other side.

The person driving in front was A Xiao, whom he had met before. He said "Hello, Miss Duan", waited for Xu Huaizheng to get in, and started the car steadily.

"Why are you suddenly free again?" Xu Huaizheng asked.

Duanmo shrugged and replied vaguely: "Whether you are free or not is not a matter of a word from the leader."

"I told you to change your job a long time ago, but you just didn't listen." Xu Huaizheng sighed helplessly, "Interpol... is really not suitable for girls, it's too hard."

This topic has been mentioned by him the most since the two reunited.

"Are you being sexist?" Duan Mo asked.

"Don't dare, don't dare." Xu Huaizheng waved his hands repeatedly, "You don't dare to discriminate against anyone, right? I'm worried that if something goes wrong, I won't be able to explain it to Aunt Jin."

Duan Mo wanted to say less about her, but because there was A Xiao in front of him, he swallowed his words again. He simply turned his head away from the car window and stopped talking.

Xu Huaizheng knew her temper and did not continue the topic. Instead, he said: "I recently discovered a private restaurant with homemade plum wine. I think you will like it."

"Don't sound like I'm an alcoholic." Duan Mo rolled his eyes.

Xu Huaizheng smiled and said: "I said it wrong. I like it and want you to drink with me."

The car quickly arrived at its destination. The private restaurant he was talking about was not a store facing the street, but opened in an old-fashioned courtyard.

The two followed the waiter through the winding stone road and entered a private room.

The room is not big, with a table and four chairs, all made of logs. The rough wood grain is very textured. Freehand landscape paintings are hung on the walls. Although they are not works by famous artists, they are outstanding in their simple and smooth lines and fresh and elegant colors.

Quite an artistic conception.

"How's it going? Do you feel like you've returned to nature?" Xu Huaizheng took off his suit and hung it on the hanger.

Duanmo nodded: "Not bad."

Compared to those luxuriously decorated hotels, she prefers this rustic feel.

Xu Huaizheng understood her taste, so he ordered the food directly and asked for a pot of plum wine.

The dishes were served one after another. After the waiter left, Duan Mo had just picked up the wine cup when he heard him say: "Don't drink on an empty stomach. Eat some vegetables first."

"No, I just smell it."

What Duan Mo said was not a lie. She didn't know much about wine, but she didn't like to drink anything that tasted too strong.

Xu Huaizheng took serving chopsticks and helped her pick up the food: "Of course it's not as good as grandma's brew, but it's still passable."
