Chapter 32 Small Town

The sun rose and set, exactly the same time as Ceryl said.

At dusk the next day, the two of them successfully walked out from the other side of the woods and left the place where they had stayed all day.

After walking out of the forest, Karl could see a small town not far away at a glance. There were no signs of industrialization in this small town, and it looked like a medieval town from a distance.

During this time, the residents in the town were lighting fires to cook, and wisps of smoke came out of the chimneys. At dusk, the whole town was a quiet and peaceful scene.

After touching his stomach, which he hadn't eaten all day, and remembering something, Karl stretched out his left hand to Ceryl.

"What are you doing?"

The girl looked at the open hand in front of her with a blank expression, then she thought of something and shook it.

"Do you want to hold hands?"

After holding Karl, she smiled blankly.

To be honest, this guy's cute silly smile is quite impactful, especially for a wifeless guy like Karl.

"When that group of people broke in that day, you were the one who put away the luggage on the table, right?"

Suppressing this feeling, Karl's face was paralyzed, and his voice did not fluctuate at all.

At the same time, I was still warning myself: The guy in front of me is not the type I can accept, she is not a human being!

"Yes, yes, I am very clever, aren't I?"

Ceryl nodded happily, like a puppy asking for credit.

"So give me the money in your luggage. I haven't eaten anything all day."

"I almost forgot, ordinary people get hungry easily..."

She immediately took out all of Karl's belongings from her body and stuffed them out.

"Let's go."

Karl took over his family property and dragged Ceryl into this small town.

After asking the residents here at the entrance of the town, I learned that there is only one hotel here, and it is an old hotel that has been operated for generations and has been passed down for hundreds of years.

After arriving here according to the instructions of passers-by and stopping in front of the hotel, Karl couldn't help but admire that this was indeed a century-old hotel.

A building that looks like it has gone through many vicissitudes of life, and even the color of the original wood is almost invisible, stands here.

The door of the hotel is even more colorful, and I don't know what was splashed on it.

After carefully opening the door, there was a figure sitting by the stove cooking something in the dim lobby of the hotel.

"The two of us are staying here for one night."

Karl walked over and said hello.

"He's actually a guest."

The man by the fire raised his head, it was an old man.

"The rooms upstairs here are all empty. You two can just decide which one you want to move into."

As he spoke, he suddenly stopped talking.

"Oh oh oh, what a beautiful lady, you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my life!"

Apparently it was because he admired Cyril immediately after seeing her appearance.

As he spoke, he opened the pot on the stove, which contained vegetable soup.

"You two came so late, do you want something to eat?"

"Then please give me a bowl."

"Um……"

The old man did not agree directly, but thought about something.

"Young people like you can't be like this old guy like me. I'm going to get you some mashed potatoes and send them up with the soup later."

"Thank you so much."

Carl bowed.

"Then what is the accommodation fee here?"

"The food I have is not worth much, just give it away for free."

The old man thought for a moment and waived their meal expenses.

"It's not easy to charge too much for a shabby place like mine. It only costs 1 shilling for two people to stay a night."

So Karl took out a shilling and handed it over, and then took Ceryl upstairs.

Although it looks shabby from the outside, the interior upstairs is still clean and tidy. It is obvious that although there are no guests, this old gentleman cleans the place every day.

After finding a double room, Karl walked in and sat beside the bed, opening the window.

The wind blowing in from the window had a hint of country life, which gave Karl a leisurely atmosphere.

In the past few days, he has been involved in various things, and his spirit has not relaxed. Such a relaxing breeze is really a nostalgic feeling.

"Celiel?"

Karl suddenly spoke, and Ceryl, who was making the bed beside her, immediately turned around.

"What's wrong?"

"Did you feel anything when you devoured those innocent people before?"

It was as if the words came out of my mouth without even thinking about it.

Seriel did not answer this question directly.

"Do you know how many people sacrificed their lives a long time ago in order for me to become a god, and what I paid for myself?"

"You weren't originally a god?"

Karl frowned.

"A long time ago, I was also a mortal."

There was no excitement, sadness or nostalgia in Seliel's tone.

It's like telling someone else's story.

"Generally speaking, a talisman has three stages. If you are capable enough to make it break through to the fourth stage, you may also have a chance to become a god."

"What does it cost to be a god?"

"..."

"You don't want to know."

"..."

For a while, silence returned to the room.

It took a long time for Karl to speak again.

"I know I can't do it now, but if I am strong enough one day, I will never become like you."

"Well, I'll wait and see."

Seri paused.

"Time will tell you what is right."

At this time, the two guys, each talking harshly, were lying on the bed looking at the ceiling, not knowing what they were thinking.

That's how it went for a while.

The boss downstairs came up.

He put two bowls of soup and a large bowl of mashed potatoes on a tray and served them to them.

"Here, here's your dinner."

After putting down his things, the old man planned to leave, but Karl stopped him.

"Boss, are you running this hotel alone?"

"Ha ha."

The boss smiled before answering his question.

"I also have two sons. Neither of them liked life in the country, so they volunteered to join the army and fight for Her Majesty the Queen. If I remember correctly, they were in India. They wrote to me last time to tell me that they would take me

Then go to live in a big city."

"Then good luck to you."

"Thank you, little sir."

"I also wish you and this lady a good sleep tonight."

After saying that, the boss closed the door and left.

Only Karl and Ceryl were left in the room again.

Reaching the window, Karl picked up vegetable soup mixed with mashed potatoes and ate it.

"Aren't you going to eat?"

"I don't need to eat."

"Many of the guys you devoured before are just like the boss, looking forward to the future and living hard."

"I know."

"I know everything."

Ceryl turned around from the bed, facing away from Karl.

"But I have to do it."

Nothing was said after that.

The two spent the night in silence.
