Chapter 6 Charming Night

Under the open trap door is a hardcover book that is not too thick.

Facing Karl is the front of the book, which depicts a man wearing a black hooded robe standing among tombstones. His body is completely hidden under the dark robe, and his face is also completely blocked by the hood.

As for the names of the books, although Karl could recognize that the letters clearly looked like Latin, he actually couldn't read them at all.

For example, the word 'fder' obviously has the shadow of Latin letters, but asking Karl to translate its meaning in English would be a blind man trying to figure out the elephant.

After picking up the book, a fishy smell wafted out from below. At the same time, Carl felt a chill on his back, as if something started to stare at him after picking up the book.

Then before he could understand it carefully, he was surprised to find that there were secrets hidden under the books.

A square grid is directly below the location of the books. It was previously obscured by the books above, so it was not discovered. Only by removing the books can you see what is underneath.

There is a dark red colloid in the grid, and the fishy smell is obviously emitted from it. There is also a stone slab placed in this colloid.

To be on the safe side, Karl tried to cut open the dark red colloid with a dagger. After the colloid was cut, a stronger fishy smell came out, which could almost make people sick to the point of vomiting. He endured the discomfort and pulled out the stone slab.

After taking it out, I discovered that the material of this stone slab was very strange. The greenish material had the texture of a gem. This was completely invisible because it was covered with dark red colloid and inserted vertically into the colloid.

This stone slab was engraved with both patterns and text. With Karl's knowledge, the previous book could still be recognized as Latin letters, but this one was completely unrecognizable.

But fortunately, it is backed by knowledge from the 21st century. Judging from the pattern above, it should be something related to ancient Egypt.

Why is there something that looks like it was used by the ancient Egyptians?

Without thinking much, after completely taking out the slate and books, Karl chose to leave here immediately and return to his room.

After blocking the door to his room again, Karl sat on a chair and placed two things on the desk. When the books left his hands, the chilling feeling of being watched by something also disappeared.

"It seems that this book is not a good thing..."

The cold stare that makes one's skin crawl when one picks up a book makes one not think of any friendly presence.

But before he could study these two things carefully, he heard a rhythmic knocking at the door.

"哐...哐哐..."

"哐...哐哐..."

Karl didn't dare to answer the question at all, who knew what was knocking on the door outside now.

The knocking on the door continued for a while and stopped after about a minute. The thing outside seemed to think that no one was in the house and gave up.

A normal person would not just knock on the door and not say anything. What on earth was outside just now? What would happen if he opened the door by himself?

Thinking about these questions, Karl straightened up from his chair, only to find that his back was already wet with his own cold sweat.

I forced myself to calm down. Now I couldn't even go in the corridor. The reason why there was such a change outside was definitely related to the fact that I had taken away these two things.

I hope I can find a solution to the current predicament. Karl thought like this and opened the books in front of him, hoping to gain something from it.

Although Karl could not understand the content written in the book at all, under the influence of a mysterious force, he was reading the book with gusto, flipping through page after page, as if he had seen something special.

The same thing that attracts people.

In fact, when Karl opened the book and took a first look, his brain had already begun to enter a trance state, and he had no idea what he was doing or how much time had passed.

Just like this, the sun outside the window had completely set, and people in the town began to light up the light bulbs one after another.

Late at night, an uninvited guest came to Karl's door. He was still confused by the evil book in front of him, and he read it tirelessly.

There was no knocking or opening, and Marianne just appeared in Karl's room.

At the same time as Marianne appeared, the slate on Karl's desk reacted. Without anyone noticing, a touch of green flashed across the slate.

At the same time, Carl miraculously woke up from his trance.

Raising his head, he immediately saw Marianne appearing in his room.

"Good evening...good evening."

Karl forced a smile with difficulty, and the dim room gave him a reminder. He knew that it was already very late, and he might have wasted a lot of time. Now something was really going wrong.

"No...I wonder if Miss Marianne is satisfied with the changes in the script?"

Thinking of the previous performance of the person in front of him, Karl felt frightened.

"The changes to the script are pretty good."

The right corner of Marianne's mouth slightly raised, and a contemptuous smile appeared on her beautiful face.

"But why didn't Mr. Carl go to Lounge 4 for his appointment?"

As she spoke, Marian crossed her arms and looked aggrieved.

"Is it because Marianne doesn't like you?"

The emotion she expressed at this time was so real, and the tears faintly flashing around her eyes were even more endearing.

At the same time, Marianne began to walk towards Karl, acting like an aggrieved girl seeking answers.

"Stop right there!"

Facing her embrace, Karl remained unmoved and instead yelled loudly.

At the same time, he picked up the dagger and pressed it against the book in his hand.

"If you take another step forward, I can't guarantee that this book will be returned to you!"

Sure enough, when Karl did this, Marianne immediately stopped moving forward obediently, and the emotion she had just shown on her face was no longer there.

She stared at Karl with vicious eyes, and her delicate face became distorted with resentment.

"Boy, you better pay attention."

The tone was completely different from just now, Marianne said fiercely.

"If you hurt my magic book, you will definitely die!"

"Just stand there and don't move. You are not allowed to retreat or move forward, and you are not allowed to turn around! Raise your hands and don't let me see any little moves on your part."

Karl was unmoved by Marianne's threat, and nervously issued a barrage of warnings.

"Listen, I don't want to be hostile to you. As long as you let me leave here well, it won't be a problem for me to return your book to you."

Karl put the knife against the book and walked towards the door while bypassing Marianne.

After listening to Karl's warning, Marianne raised her hands obediently, as if she was really obedient.

"As long as you return the book to me obediently, it's not impossible to let you go."

Just when Karl was thankful to be able to communicate with Marianne, her next words made him feel cold and he completely lost his intention to continue to be insincere with her.

"You think I would say that?"

Marianne spoke in a mocking tone.

"No matter what, you will die here. I have plenty of time to spend with you. You can't escape, mortal!"

Karl immediately understood that Marianne was not planning to negotiate with him at all, but was teasing him. Although he now had a 'hostage' in his hand, he had no way to escape from the theater. No matter what, his final result in the command room was that he was mortal.

Being eaten alive here.

But at this moment, a bold idea suddenly came to his mind.

To survive in death, he gambled!

So Karl walked around to the door and placed the magic book on Marianne's back.

"I really don't mean any harm. I can return the book to you now, as long as you are willing to let me go."

"Fan...ah!"

Marianne felt a pain in her chest before the 'mortal' came out of her mouth twice.

As soon as she lowered her head, a dagger had penetrated the magic book, and then pierced her body, revealing the tip of the knife from her chest.

"Which one of us is following which one?"

Karl behind her smiled coldly.

"I don't want to let you go either."
