Chapter 22 Wolf Hunting III

Whether werewolves are human beings or not is a question.

It is both a general question and a scientific question.

As for the latter, werewolves have the characteristics of humans and wolves. Although academically speaking, werewolves clearly belong to the order of primates and are a subject alongside humans, but naturalists have collectively forgotten the existence of this species.

Because from a human perspective, this species should not exist in the world.

vice versa.

Just because werewolves are different from humans, does the experiment on werewolves mean that the exact same results can be obtained on humans?

Sean believes that werewolves are at least more reliable than guinea pigs.

On August 10, 1831, Putnam Castle welcomed a group of well-dressed guests, mainly professors from the University of Poitou, as well as some well-known doctors from the province of Genoa.

On this day, Professor Nolan will conduct a great experiment destined to go down in history under the witness of guests.

After being tortured and extracting all the information, the two werewolves will serve as Professor Nolan's free experiments.

After sighing at the strange and ferocious appearance of the werewolf and commenting on it, no guest would initiate a discussion about whether this was inhumane or not.

In their eyes, using werewolves for experiments is just right.

Surrounded by so many humans wearing white coats, gloves, special masks and glasses, the werewolves were horrified. This serious and "evil" scene they had never seen before frightened them more than torture.

One of the werewolves was injected with the smallpox virus, which was taken from the abscesses of a smallpox patient. Three days later, the werewolf began to have fever, chills, and lethargy. A few days later, spots appeared on his mouth, face, and arms.

Papules then rapidly spread to the trunk and legs. The papules develop into blisters and then into pustules.

It was already August 20, 1831, and the werewolf, who was proven to be susceptible to smallpox just like humans, was secretly sent away by Sean.

He is free.

If all goes well, this werewolf will bring the smallpox virus to his own group.

Lieutenant Frank watched the entire implementation of Sean's plan and couldn't help but sigh that he had really encountered an evil wizard who could even come up with such vicious methods, which made him shudder.

This suddenly reminded Lieutenant Frank that this young commander was actually a scholar and was known as a wizard. At this time, in his opinion, the name wizard was very appropriate.

He secretly decided not to offend scholars easily in the future, especially those engaged in research in the fields of medicine and chemistry, and it was best to stay away from them.

At the same time, another werewolf had his skin pricked and was inoculated with cowpox. This was pimples obtained from farm cattle. To be on the safe side, the first inoculation was relatively small. This werewolf had no adverse reactions.

, another large dose was administered two days later, and this time the werewolf developed a slight fever.

When all the symptoms of the werewolf disappeared, Dr. Nolan injected him with the smallpox virus. While the other werewolf was suffering from smallpox, this werewolf was still in normal condition and he gained the ability to be "immune" to the smallpox virus.

All the guests witnessed this amazing discovery with their own eyes. In addition to being amazed, they were very jealous of Professor Nolan's discovery. This is a great discovery that can be recorded in the annals of human history and will bring high honors to the discoverer. Although this vaccination

The process is very simple.

Soon, an 8-year-old farmer's son became the first person to be vaccinated with cowpox, and the experiment was a great success.

Sean established a hospital in the name of the University of Poitou and the Governor's Palace of Genoa to vaccinate against cowpox.

Sean was the first person to be officially vaccinated with cowpox after the hospital was established, and his godson, the future Earl Robinson, became the second person.

The hospital charges 2 silver coins for each vaccination, and the revenue is divided into three parts. After deducting costs, one part goes to the Governor's Palace, one part goes to Professor Nolan personally, and the other part goes to the University of Poitou.

After this project was warmed up, even though it only cost 2 silver coins, it immediately became an extremely profitable business, and many people from out of town came all the way to get vaccinated.

Sean's reputation as a wizard is once again well-established - when he expresses his opinion on a certain natural science, no matter how whimsical it is, the most prestigious scholars do not dare to look down upon it, secretly reminding themselves that what comes from Sean's mouth may not be the same.

Another genius inspiration.

After Professor Nolan made a lot of money, at the end of 1831, he and his colleague Lavardi were absorbed as members of the Royal Scientific Society at the same time.

When someone calls Professor Nolan the founder of "immunology", while his vanity is greatly satisfied, he modestly says that he is just a promoter.

The University of Poitou, which also has three members of the Imperial Scientific Society, seems to be on the right track.

Although Sean later became farther and farther away from the university and rarely interfered with the internal affairs of the university, no one took the initiative to suggest that the university should be replaced by a president, because this president not only controls more and more funds, but also has a lot of influence on the university.

Their great future.

This is of course a later story.

After seeing off Professor Nolan and a group of guests, Sean began to concentrate on implementing his wolf hunting plan.

There was no movement from the werewolf "released" by Sean. If there was any movement, Sean would not know about it immediately.

He broke off the limbs of another experimental subject, the werewolf who had successfully gained immunity to smallpox, cut a series of cuts on his body, then poured honey on it, and finally tied it to the pass that must pass through Otter Mountain leading to Genoa.

The werewolf carries a letter from Sean to the werewolf leader: This is a gift from the Genoese.

According to reports from the secretly observing soldiers, the werewolf met a terrible end. His body was covered with ants and insects, and he looked like a black bear from a distance. He howled in pain for a day and a night before he was discovered by the werewolf deep in the mountains.

After learning about Sean's terrifying methods, Lieutenant Frank concluded that Sean's "conspiracy" would successfully arouse the anger of the werewolves.

Just as Frank expected, Wolf, the king of werewolves, was furious at this time.

Percy's escape caused him to lose an important bargaining chip. Mr. Snake made an extremely angry speech in front of him. In fact, there was nothing he could do about it, but the series of conditions that the other party had promised were dropped.

The disappearance of two werewolves did not attract Wolf's attention at first.

Because such things will always happen continuously. Werewolves are born wild and difficult to restrain. They surrender to force rather than obey order. There are always werewolves who will go down the mountain privately to have fun, especially human women.

When one of the werewolves came back with a disease, Wolf just locked him in a wolf den. However, the werewolf died quickly, and the werewolves who came into contact with him also fell ill one after another. Only then did Wolf realize that his people were infected with the disease.

Got a terrible disease.

He is one of the few literate werewolves among the werewolves. They also have their own cultural heritage and are proud of it.

As the leader, Wolf knew that this terrible disease also appeared in the history and legends of werewolves, so he asked the wizards of the tribe to perform rituals to sacrifice to the wolf god, and then burn all infected werewolves to death.

This is also the most direct and brutal way for werewolves to deal with infectious diseases, and it is also the most effective way.

In the raging fire, Wolf lost thirty tribesmen at once. This was not a lack of decisiveness.

At this time, he still didn't know where this disease came from, but of course he already guessed that it was transmitted from humans until he found the second missing werewolf.

The miserable situation of this werewolf made Wolf furious.

"Genoa! I will make all Genoese people pay with their blood."

To express his anger, Wolf had all the Genoese slaves in his hands executed.

If Sean knew that he had such a revenge move, I'm afraid he would just frown and say to himself, a gentleman's revenge is never too late in ten years.

That's all.

The wronged souls of those murdered Genoese people will never find a way to appeal.

But who cares? Most Poitou people are still living their seemingly peaceful days, and only those in Northern Genoa feel the smell of tension in the air.

Sean was actively preparing for war. While he was stepping up training of the army, he sent out all the scouts to keep an eye on any living creature coming down from the Otter Mountains. At the same time, he planned to move the residents close to the Otter Mountains to

Move south.

It was already September 1831, and the autumn in Genoa was not as obvious as in the north, but after all, the hottest season was over.

In the hilly areas of Northern Genoa, unknown white wildflowers are growing quietly. When the breeze blows, white waves appear on the green grass.

A hare was running desperately on the field, surrounded by several knights in a fan shape, startling a group of starlings.

The hare kept changing directions and still couldn't escape the trap of the predator.

There was a gunshot, and the hare somersaulted on the ground, motionless.

"Commander, you shot it in the head."

Daniel Davis, riding his horse at a gallop, bent down and picked up the rabbit with his bayonet.

"Okay, let's have extra lunch today." Sean smiled.

The bonfire was quickly lit, and in the autumn wilderness, Sean took it upon himself to put the prepared hare on the fire, and soon the air was filled with the aroma of barbecue.

In addition, the soldiers bought two chickens from the herdsmen, paired them with mushrooms and wild vegetables picked from the fields, and brought potatoes and bread as staple food. It was a very good meal.

Sean was checking the preparations for war. With the defense line of more than 100 kilometers in Northern Genoa, he could not set up heavy troops everywhere, and he did not have that many troops. He could only move the residents south in advance. Some moved to Fort Putnam.

Some moved into larger villages and towns, leaving depth.

It was not easy to persuade these residents to stand firm and clear the country. Sean was very doubtful about the execution ability of local officials, so he had to take action himself.

Those officials were suspicious of the werewolf's possible move south. After all, any further trouble would directly affect this year's harvests of farmers and herdsmen everywhere.

"I have to say that your commander is very good at cooking. Is it so complicated to roast a hare? Are all your nobles in the south like this?" Lieutenant Frank admired sincerely, while he was still chewing on the chicken legs.

Sean had finished his meal quickly and was sleeping with his head on the saddle.

"No, no, Lieutenant." Daniel smiled, "Our commander is different. Have you ever seen a noble who likes to think about food and drink? Also, do you know what 'slow fire' is?"

"What do you mean?" Frank really didn't know.

Ta, tap, a cavalryman galloped over quickly, attracting everyone's attention:

"Report to Commander, Deputy Commander Wells, please return to the headquarters immediately! The werewolf is coming down the mountain!"
