(111) Expectations (Anja, II)

The journey only took a short moment, no more than ten seconds at most.

This is the escape technique that Elder Xi is proud of - even if it is not as fast as the real light, it is not far behind. Feeling her feet fall on the ground again, Anya opened her eyes and experienced something completely different from the southern part of the alliance.

A soft breeze with a bit of freshness and coolness.

The locust trees that have been growing for hundreds of years are almost integrated into one. The soft sunlight shines from the sky and passes through the layers of oval leaves. It does not bring any heat in this early summer. Gray squirrels jump around among the branches.

, poked his head out from behind the tree trunk from time to time, took a look at the "uninvited guest" that suddenly appeared, and then chased the tail of his companion into the canopy.

The surrounding area is not as noisy as the market in Xiyang, nor is it as quiet as the inner city. The chirping of birds, the whispers of beasts, and the faint laughter blend into one, unrelated yet unusually harmonious. Underfoot is the soft black soil, year after year.

The fallen leaves and fruits of the year become part of the soil, allowing the trees in front of you to flourish as usual.

Anya looked away, made sure her clothes were still neat, and then walked along the path trodden by the villagers to the fence dozens of feet away. The eagle-headed monster followed slowly behind her, holding its head high.

Yuffie and Lin had already told her the story of the small village called 'Suzuland'. Villages of this size were not uncommon in the Alliance, but perhaps with special emotions in her heart, the girl always felt that what she saw in front of her

Everything is covered with a special layer of brilliance.

Several petite monsters saw them and gathered around them chattering. They didn't think Elder Xi was scary at all. She tried hard to find gaps in the other party's words, revealed her identity, and proposed to meet the village's 'Asang'.

The monsters looked at each other, one of them turned around and disappeared in the blink of an eye. The others continued to surround her, asking various normal or strange questions.

"You are the king of the alliance! But... what is that?"

"You just said you knew Lin! And, um... her name is Yuffie, right? Why didn't they come back together?"

"There are many monsters in Xiyang City, right? Are there any monsters like me? Are there any monsters smaller than me?"

"Yuffie had a fight with Ulla. She was amazing! You must be amazing too, right? Ulla wants to fight you -"

The gentle clapping stopped the noise of the monsters. The girl raised her eyes and saw a female monster in a blue robe approaching her with a python-like tail.

"Sister Qingluo." She bowed slightly and greeted the 'acting village chief' of Suzulan Village, "Is your 'A-Sang' here? I want to meet him."

The woman lowered her head and looked at the girl with a look of understanding.

"He is not in the village now." She swung her snake tail and swam past Anya, looking to the other side of the village. "I'm not sure where he went, but... You'er might know. She's not far to the north.

Deep in the cave.”

"I understand, thank you." The girl nodded and followed the other person's gaze into the distance. The layers of trees blocked her sight, but she believed that Elder Xi had the ability to find the young "Dream Spirit".

Even 'Asan', who doesn't even know where he is - no one can escape from the hawk-headed monster's gaze.

But she wanted to know more about him. The reason why he established the alliance, the reason why he resigned from the throne, and... the reason why he paid attention to himself and every 'demon king'.

"Asang...what does it look like to you?"

This question seemed a bit confusing. Qingluo tilted her head and thought for a while, then smiled happily.

"He is a very gentle person." She lowered part of her snake tail to make her height similar to Anya's. "At the same time, he is also a very sad person."

"Sad...?" Anya opened her mouth slightly, vaguely understanding something, "Is it because... of his past?"

"That's right." Qingluo sighed softly, feeling a little depressed, "Before he came to this village... or even this continent, there was a past that I couldn't know."

The woman with the snake tail suddenly turned her head and looked directly into her eyes, with clear expectations in her eyes.

"Yuffie and Lin... I once expected those two girls to be able to melt his heart. Now it seems that maybe you can do the same, Anya."

The girl's eyes widened, a little unbelievable - but also a little natural, when she heard Qing Luo's next words.

"In a sense, I can feel that you are the one he really cares about."

The cool north wind blew through the treetops, raising the girl's long hair back. The sunshine just after noon fell on her back, without the obstruction of the tree crown, bringing just the right amount of warmth. A few birds tried to follow

He fell in love with her, but was left behind in an instant.

The eagle-headed monster transformed into its original form - a golden-black bird of prey with a wingspan of more than ten feet, flying with her over the jungle. Anya squinted her eyes, trying hard to see the scene below clearly, but all she could see was a continuous line of sight.

Endless greenery.

"Elder Xi." She put her hand in front of her mouth to avoid getting too much cold air when she spoke, "What do you think... what Sister Qingluo said... means?"

The monster didn't answer immediately. It flapped its huge wings, raised its altitude slightly, and then glided quickly with the help of the wind.

This elder has always been taciturn. Unlike Lian, Lan and others, he never expressed any opinions on the clues that Anya collected that were of unknown authenticity. The girl thought it would be the same this time, but after nearly a minute of silence

, a familiar high-pitched voice suddenly reached her ears.

"What she said is the truth. However, how you face it is up to you, Anya."

Elder Xi is indeed very familiar with that 'Asan', Anya thought to herself. She tried to ask for more details, but the monster stopped talking. She could only give up trying and began to think about the meaning of the original sentence.

Time always passed quickly when thinking. The sudden drop in height made the girl wake up, and she realized that the two of them had left the forest at some point. In front of them were low but lush shrubs and rock peaks rising from the ground.

, and the deep cave entrance opened in the mountain wall - exactly consistent with Qing Luo's description.

The hawk-headed monster landed on the ground, waiting for Anya to jump off its back and then transform back into human form. He stared at the hole for a moment, then turned to the girl who was arranging her clothes.

"There is no danger inside, and the dream spirit has no malicious intent." He held his head high and said firmly, "My power will hurt her. Go ahead, Anya. I'm right here."

Anya nodded. Elder Xi may have other considerations, but there is no need to continue to ask... and even if he asked, he would not get an answer. She tied her hair back and recited a spell in a low voice that she was not yet familiar with.

A ball of soft light ignited out of thin air and floated above the palm of her hand - it was one of several simple secrets that Yuffie taught her.

"Please don't worry, Elder Xi. I'll be back as soon as possible."

She raised her head, glanced at the direction of the sun, and carefully stepped into the slightly slippery cave.
