Chapter 3 The Temple of the Earth

Five miles away in Xiaoshan Village, there is a Tutu Temple built of bluestone.

However, the sculpture of the Earth God in the middle of the temple has been moved to a dark corner.

In the middle of the temple stands a newly built stone statue.

The new stone statue is about one person tall and is placed in the place of the original earth god.

In front of the new stone statue is an incense table with three pillars of incense, some wild fruits picked from the mountains, and a large bowl of white tofu.

A nightingale was looking for food in the mountains and forests. It flew into the Earth Temple and made a soft chirp.

It fell on the incense table and pecked at the wild fruits on the table.

The new stone statue that was originally standing quietly opened its eyes slowly, grinned its lips, and showed a warm and healing smile.

Then, the nightingale became more and more hungry. After pecking at the wild fruits, it started pecking at the tofu. It flapped its wings and its two jewel-like eyes were as clear as ink, looking very happy.

At the same time, tiny footsteps sounded outside the Tutu Temple.

"Swiss, swiss, swish!"

The way the little widow was eating tofu was so hungry, and the healing smile on the little widow's face were all telling Jiang Chaoge something.

There is really a problem in Xiaoshan Village!

No barking dogs, no lights, no overnight stay, no respect for the scholar at all?

This is obviously not a normal village!

"Liang Pingan has been gone for a while. In a place like this, something could happen to him at any time. I must find him before something happens to him and complete the seizure."

Without thinking about the missing Jiang Erlang and the strange little widow, Jiang Chaoge left through the wall.

Soon, he came to the door of another room.

If he remembered correctly, there was an old man with a kind and innocent face living in this room? Moreover, this old man also sent greetings to Liang Ping'an's family.

"Time is very tight. If you want to catch up with Liang Ping'an, you can only go in a straight line. There is indeed a problem in Xiaoshan Village, but the ghost here seems to be unconscious, so there should be no danger."

He strode into the yard.

In the small courtyard, he saw a wooden chicken house covered with a thick rain sheet. Unfortunately, there were no chickens!

Not only are there no dogs, there are no chickens either?

Just as I was thinking about it, I heard two old voices coming from the house.

"Looks like we need another pair of dishes and chopsticks."

"Don't say it, old man. I just added a pair of dishes and chopsticks. Compared with the frightened days before, it's much better."

Not surprisingly, there should be a loving old couple living in the house.

Jiang Chaoge walked in.

As soon as I entered the house, I saw the kind-hearted old man and an old woman with thinning hair and sunken eyes.

The two of them were really in love. The old man was lying on the bed and the old woman was lying on the floor.

In addition, there is a dilapidated wooden square table in the narrow room, with a small bowl of leftover white tofu and three pairs of bowls and chopsticks placed on it.

"White tofu again?"

Jiang Chaoge is now a little sensitive to tofu.

However, what made him even more confused at this time was... there were only two people in the room, so why were there three sets of bowls and chopsticks?

While feeling startled in vain, he suddenly thought of something, raised his head decisively, and looked at the beams on the roof.

Sure enough, there was a person hanging upside down.

Not a human, but a ghost!

He was a young scholar with handsome appearance and picturesque eyebrows. He was wearing a dark green Confucian shirt and holding a paper fan in his hand.

His two feet stepped on the beams as if they were stepping on the ground, his eyes were full of intoxication, and his face was filled with a happy and healing smile.

However, the scholar's body has tended to be 'transparent' and seemed to disappear at any time. This is why Jiang Chaoge did not see the scholar immediately after entering the room.

"Second Hanged Ghost?!"

If one ghost hangs upside down, then there may be something wrong with that ghost. But if all the ghosts hang upside down, then the problem is definitely not the ghost, but the village.

"What secrets are hidden in Xiaoshan Village?"

"Could it be that there is something in Xiaoshan Village... that feeds on ghosts?"

"Before entering the house just now, grandpa seemed to have said that he wanted to add a pair of bowls and chopsticks. Does this mean... grandpa and grandma knew about the existence of the scholar on the roof?!"

Jiang Chaoge once again sorted out the clues and found that the problem seemed to be more serious than he imagined.

Because, according to his guess, there is probably something in Xiaoshan Village that can control ghosts, and he is also a ghost now, and he is in Xiaoshan Village.

"If I can't find out what is controlling these ghosts, will I still be in danger even if I take away Liang Ping'an?"

Only by finding the murderer can we avoid the murderer!

Jiang Chaoge looked at the scholar on the beam and the self-healing smile on the scholar's face.

He doesn't want to end up like this!

"The scholar should be the missing scholar Jiang Erlang is looking for. Judging from the time, he entered the village earlier than Jiang Erlang. Perhaps there will be new clues in his memory?"

Although the process of reading the memory was a bit painful, Jiang Chaoge decided to try again!

He first bowed to the scholar on the roof beam and expressed a little respect. Then he jumped up, grabbed the scholar's neck with both hands, and hung himself up.

After hanging it up, he began to twist the waist and swing it.

Showing it up...

The scene in front of me changed.

Perhaps because the scholar's body was almost transparent, the memories Jiang Chaoge read were somewhat scattered.

The first memory is like a "edited blockbuster", sometimes it is the scene of studying in the school, and sometimes it is the scene of reciting poems at the poetry meeting.

What's more, it's very embarrassing that every time when the critical moment comes, the bottom is gone!

Fortunately, there were not many scattered memory fragments. Soon, he appeared at the entrance of Xiaoshan Village.

"I am Jiang Yu'er, a scholar from a poor family!"

Jiang Chaoge's eyebrows became swollen and painful again, but it was much more comfortable than the first time. The incomplete memory was a disadvantage, but the advantage was that it was not as fierce and huge as Jiang Erlang.

"Dong dong dong!"

After he entered the village, he also knocked on the little widow's door.

The little widow opened the door and revealed her lower body again.

"Hey, where did this handsome young man come from? I'm afraid he's hungry on the way? My sister-in-law has some white and tender tofu at home. Do you want to take a bite before you go on your way?"

"Okay...ok, thank you sister-in-law!"

As soon as Jiang Yuer heard that there was tofu to eat, he immediately nodded in agreement.

After all, he had been living in the open all this way.

My sister-in-law is such a good person!

He secretly decided in his heart that after he passed the examination, he would visit his sister-in-law again to thank her.

The little widow did not deceive him. After working in the kitchen for a while, she brought out a large pot of white and tender tofu.

Through the faint moonlight, Jiang Yu'er saw hot steam floating on the pot.

“It smells so good!”

Jiang Yuer was so hungry that he started to eat big mouthfuls.

The tofu tastes very smooth, tender and delicate.

An indescribable deliciousness stimulated his taste buds, making him unable to stop eating. He finished a large pot of white tofu in just a short time.

“Sister-in-law’s tofu is so delicious!”

Jiang Yu'er felt warm in her heart and in her stomach, as if a fire was burning in her chest, and a satisfied smile appeared on her face unconsciously.

Then the little widow came over.

"Brother, is the tofu made by sister-in-law delicious?"

"tasty!"

"Then how can my brother repay his sister-in-law?" the little widow pressed her step by step.

"This...sister-in-law...sister-in-law, don't do this, we can't...can't..." Jiang Yu'er stepped back and put both hands on the waistband of his pants.
