Chapter 855 The Shining Movie

October 1st is also the day when "The Shining" is released.

Although there were some twists and turns, the movie was successfully released in China.

Xu Zi held a bucket of popcorn in one hand and a Zibo pole in the other. He smiled at the camera and said, "The movie will start soon, and the live broadcast needs to be temporarily closed. If you want to hear my thoughts after watching it,

You can open my live broadcast room again in an hour and a half."

After finishing speaking, Xu Zizai closed the live broadcast room, put away his mobile phone, and ran to the entrance to queue up.

Standing in the queue, Xu Zizai felt a little awkward, because everyone else came to watch the movie in pairs, and he was the only one alone.

"Is this movie really good?"

Xu Zizai heard a girl's voice coming from behind, probably asking about her boyfriend.

"Of course it's good. I've read the original work."

"The original work is good, but the movie may not be good either, right?"

"The director is Kulikli. How can it not look good if they join forces?"

"I hope, the promotional poster doesn't look very scary, isn't it just two little girls?"

"Well, it's not that scary. Don't be afraid."

Listening to the words of the couple behind, Xu Zizai secretly cursed, I believe you are a ghost!

This guy definitely has bad intentions when he brings his girlfriend to see "The Shining."

Isn’t this the case for all routines?

In the cinema, as soon as the scary scene appeared, the girls screamed and got into the boys' arms...

If Xu Zizai was asked to choose someone to watch "The Shining" with him, he would probably choose his fourth brother Fang Ya.

It wasn't because he wanted Fang Ya to get into his arms, or for him to get into Fang Ya's arms, he was just curious about how a scholar like Fang Ya would behave when watching a horror movie.

The fourth brother should also watch this movie. After all, it is Zhang Zhong’s work. Hasn’t the fourth brother been studying Zhang Zhong? This is a very important material.

While thinking wildly, it was his turn to check the ticket.

After entering the cinema, after enduring eight minutes of commercials, the movie started.

The movie begins with a long overhead shot, showing the emptiness of the environment. Then the male protagonist appears, and he is going to interview for a job as a hotel guard.

This historic Overlook Hotel will be closed for several months at this time of year due to the upcoming heavy snow. In order to prevent major problems when the hotel is closed, they need to hire a caretaker.

If the male protagonist is successful in applying, he will live with his family in the Yuanwang Hotel for several months.

In the previous part, there is not much difference between the movie and the novel, the story direction is exactly the same.

Whether in the novel or the movie, what happens to the hero's son Daniel at the beginning indicates that this trip is not simple.

Tony, Daniel's Shining, dissuaded him before they entered the hotel and showed him a scary picture, namely the two little girls on the poster.

This echoes what the manager said when the male protagonist was applying for a job. The manager Ullman told the male protagonist that a guard before him had a mental problem and killed his entire family, including his two daughters.

However, the plot of the movie in the middle and later stages is quite different from the novel. For example, room 237 is not given a specific explanation in the movie, but the origin of this room is explained at the beginning in the book.

The female zombie in the room was an old lady. She took her young lover to the hotel for vacation, but she died in the bathtub due to drinking and taking drugs.

There are more suspense left in the film, including some terrifying ghosts and monsters that did not appear, but more use of the pictures to give people a psychological hint.

This made Xu Zizai a little disappointed. He thought he could take pictures of other evil spirits in the Yuanwang Hotel, such as the three gangsters who were shot dead, the people at the masquerade who died in the fire, etc.

Especially the gay couple, the man in the dog suit is named Roger, and his boyfriend is Harry.

The two were together before, but then Harry got tired of Roger.

Roger wanted to please Harry, so he turned into a dog as Harry said, "If you can pretend to be a puppy, I can stay."

This point in the book left a deep impression on Xu Zizai, making him feel pitiful and desperate.

And this was originally a meme. Readers said that this is the highest level of dog licking, and Roger has really become a dog.

But there are also many places in the movie that are eye-catching, such as the photo hanging in the lobby and the frequent hints of typewriters.

Moreover, movies have advantages that text does not have, such as the very depressing sound effects that echo in the ears and some dark pictures.

It lacks the large number of detailed descriptions in the novel, but it also creates a space that attracts people's imagination.

Zhang Zhong saw the movie on the second day. The first day he was busy entertaining Zhuang Yu and others.

The next day, Zhang Zhong took Xu Yuhan and two people to see "The Shining", while Pengpeng stayed with her grandparents.

Considering that "The Shining" was not suitable for Peng Peng, Zhang Zhong did not take her with him.

While watching the movie, Zhang Zhong was relatively calm, while Xu Yuhan was startled but did not hide in Zhang Zhong's arms.

She covered her eyes in fear, but left a slit in her hands curious.

The movie has been changed a lot, and it is very different from the novel version of "The Shining" and also different from Kubrick's movie "The Shining" on Earth.

On Earth, Kubrick's adaptation of "The Shining" reached a point where Stephen King couldn't stand it. It basically only borrowed a framework from "The Shining" and Kubrick played the rest by himself.

For example, the evil spirits that appeared in the novel were not released in the two versions of the movie. On this point, the two directors reached a consensus remotely.

But the difference is that there are very few supernatural descriptions in Kubrick's "The Shining". After watching it, many viewers even feel that the whole thing is the fantasy of the male protagonist Jack.

Kulikli's "The Shining" did a very good job in rendering this aspect.

And because of the times, today's film technology is much more mature, including lenses, lighting, and sound effects, than Kubrick's era.

At least in terms of sound effects, Zhang Zhong believes that Kulikley's "The Shining" is definitely several levels higher than Kubrick's version of "The Shining".

Stephen King once criticized Kubrick because he adapted too many "The Shining" and the adaptations were not satisfactory to him: Kubrick did not understand what horror is at all.

Even Stephen King later made a TV series version of his own, trying to restore the novel, but the response was mediocre.

After watching this version of "The Shining," Zhang Zhong also wondered if Stephen King would still have such big complaints if he had watched Kulikley's "The Shining."
