Chapter 004, Younger Sister

During the Qin and Han Dynasties, children were educated and first learned calligraphy.

Only after you have mastered the interpretation of Chinese characters can you study "The Classic of Filial Piety" and "The Analects of Confucius" and prepare to interpret the meaning of the scriptures.

In the past, Zheng Du used the Jijiupian (also known as the Jijiuzhang) compiled by Huangmenling Shiyou during the reign of Emperor Yuan of the Han Dynasty to enlighten the Qiang Yi children in Xianglu and Wenshan.

After Zheng Pu's observance of filial piety ended, he continued to open an elementary school, using the "Thousand Character Classic" that only appeared in the Southern and Northern Dynasties.

The reason why I initially chose to be unconventional was not to gain fame, but simply to make my younger sister Zheng Yan more interested in literacy.

The three children of the Zheng family have a rather wide age range.

The eldest brother Zheng Yan is nearly thirty years old, Zheng Pu is nineteen years old, but the younger sister Zheng Yan is only seven years old.

When Zheng Du passed away, Zheng Yan was still a child. Her family pity her for being an orphan, so they pampered her and doted on her. No matter what happened, they were reluctant to force her with harsh words.

The same is true for calligraphy books.

When Zheng Pu first started to teach Zheng Yan last year, he found that she was having difficulty learning "Jijiupian". Out of doting, he searched his memory and wrote "The Thousand Character Classic" to teach. He used "The Thousand Character Classic" to teach her.

"Enlightenment" has the advantage of neat dialogues, and it contains many character stories or allusions.

Zheng Pu taught Zheng Yan how to read by telling stories, and the effect was obviously improved a lot.

Therefore, I was inspired to use the "Thousand Character Classic" when teaching elementary school children in other villages. It was also shameless to make up some allusions that did not appear, such as "Ji Qin Ruan Xiao" and so on.

For example, in ancient legends, there was a person named Ji who was very good at playing the piano. Every time he played, even a phoenix from nine days away would fly to listen; for example, in ancient times, there was a person named Ruan who was very good at playing the piano.

He is good at ventriloquism, and when he roars, he can shake a mountain into pieces.

The nonsense was so ridiculous that he almost started telling stories from the Classic of Mountains and Seas.

Of course, most of the allusions are meant to persuade people to be good and enterprising or to conform to the moral character of the world.

For example, the sentence "The sword is called the giant tower, and the pearl is called the night light".

Zheng Pu used the Giant Que Sword to explain how Yue Wang Yun Chang ordered Ou Yezi to forge five swords, and explained to Yue King Gou Jian who finally defeated Wu Wang Fu Cha by lying down on firewood and tasting gallbladder;

Pearl, has been explaining the life character of "just do good things and don't worry about the future".

This kind of teaching is very time-consuming.

Sometimes, my mouth is dry and I talk for an hour or two, just for the children to learn four words.

However, the effect is very good.

In the minds of children aged seven or eight, it is the time when they are full of curiosity about the world.

Zheng Pu's use of education and entertainment greatly increased the children's interest in learning and greatly improved their literacy efficiency, which also led to a beautiful story.

Children have a good temperament and especially like to show off to the elders in the family.

The same is true for these children who were enlightened by Zheng Pu.

After listening to Zheng Pu's narration in the Zheng family mulberry garden, after returning home, when my parents asked about their studies that day, they would also have a model of what they learned.

The common people in Guizhou live from sunrise to sunset, and rarely have entertainment. The stories that teach young children about learning have become one of the few pastimes and interesting conversations in the countryside.

Many young men who had already begun to study "The Classic of Filial Piety" or "The Analects of Confucius" were fascinated by it.

Some people who found it strange actually followed the children to the mulberry garden to listen to the lecture.

Therefore, word of mouth has made Zheng Pu's "Thousand Character Essay" and novel teachings based on historical allusions become a good talk in Shifang County. Many powerful families or scholars came here to copy it.

Xin Zi Shu went back to enlighten his nephew.

Qin Mi, who was the captain of the Shui Xiaowei in Chengdu, didn't know how to get the news. He had always been fond of literature, so he sent a nephew to the Zheng family mulberry garden to ask for a copy.

The relationship between the Zheng family and Qin Mi has always been friendly.

When Zheng Du was still alive, he had asked his eldest son Zheng Yan to study under Qin Mi, thinking that such a small thing as copying documents would be a beautiful thing to enhance the friendship between the two families.

When Zheng Pu learned about it, he was naturally overjoyed.

He was planning to use Qin Mi's mouth to get into Zhuge Liang's eyes!

Immediately, he politely rejected Qin Mi's nephew, saying that many parts of his "Thousand Character Essay" were compiled randomly. Without annotations, it would be difficult to unfold the allusions in it.

It would be better to wait for him to annotate it sentence by sentence, and then personally send it to Chengdu for Qin Mi to review.

He also claimed that "it is better to travel thousands of miles than to read thousands of books." He happened to be determined to travel to the Bashu land after the spring plowing, and he would bring him to Chengdu to Qin Mi at that time.

Such kindness and dedication made Qin Mi's nephew feel disrespectful. He thanked her profusely before saying goodbye and going back.

Seeing that things were going well, Zheng Pu quickly went to the back house to inform his mother, Lu, and asked for instructions on his upcoming travel plans.

Lu had no objection to this.

It is very common for a scholar to go on a study tour without his official title, and Zheng Pu had a good reason for it.

He just carefully warned him to be careful when going out, and then called the housekeeper at home to prepare Zheng Pu's carriage, horse and luggage, arrange his entourage and other trivial matters.

Zheng Pu also returned to his home, bowed his head at the desk, and wrote annotations for the "Thousand-Character Essay".

Only half an hour later, there was a burst of jumping footsteps, accompanied by a clear child's voice calling, "Brother Zhong! Brother Zhong!"

Zheng Pu didn't need to turn his head to look, just raised the corners of his mouth.

That's his little sister Xiao Zheng Yan.

Due to the death of her late father Zheng Du, Zheng Pu has always played the role of brother, father and childhood playmate to her young sister.

From flying kites in the spring, fluttering with cicadas in the summer, trying new things in the autumn and building snowmen in the winter, to enlightening literacy and teaching ethics. It can be said that Zheng Pu held her hand all the way through little Zheng Yan's childhood.

Therefore, little Zheng Yan always likes to stick to him.

It's the same now. Little Zheng Yan ran over and before she could sit down, her two little hands had already grabbed Zheng Pu's sleeves. She raised her little head and let her two big eyes shine with joy, "Hehe

Hee! Brother Zhong, when are we going to Chengdu?"

Um?

When Zheng Pu heard this, his smile stopped.

She was stunned for a moment, then raised her eyebrows slightly, and said in a very kind tone, "My mother told you, right? But Xiao Yan'er, Brother Zhong has something to do when he goes to Chengdu, so I can't take you with me."

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw that the originally cheerful little Zheng Yan's face was filled with grievances visible to the naked eye.

The two big eyes were quickly covered with a layer of mist, which was slowly gathering into water droplets. The two small hands holding the sleeves kept pulling slightly, and the voice was full of prayers, "Brother Zhong, take me

Can you go? I will be obedient!"

"Xiao Yan'er, be obedient, you are still young, you can't go there..."

However, before Zheng Pu finished speaking, little Zheng Yan's little mouth flattened and she spoke...

"Wow~~~~~"

Suddenly, Zheng Pu was in a panic.

He hurriedly comforted and explained, "Xiao Yan'er, don't cry, don't cry. It's not that Brother Zhong doesn't want to take you, but it's a long way to go to Chengdu, and you will be exposed to the sun and rain on the way...

"

"Wow~~~~~Brother Zhong doesn't love me anymore!"

"Xiao Yan'er, be good. Stay at home with your mother. When Brother Zhong comes back, can I bring you a lot of delicious food?"

"Brother Zhong doesn't love me anymore! Wow~~~~~"

"How about Brother Zhong promises Xiao Yan'er to come back soon, and then I can accompany you to capture Xia Chan?"

"Wow~~~~~Wow~~~~~"

Zheng Pu:..........

Immediately, I couldn't help but put my hand on my forehead and let out a deep sigh.

After a while, Zheng Pucai stroked the little man's back, spoke as slowly as possible, and said softly: "Let's do this, Xiao Yan'er. If my mother agrees, Brother Zhong will take you with him, okay?"

"

"real?"

Little Zheng Yan was sniffling, her little shoulders were shrugging, and her two big eyes, which were still full of grievance, stared at Zheng Pu for a while before she murmured, "Brother Zhong, don't lie to others!"

Without waiting for Zheng Pu to answer, he pouted again and added, "My mother said that if you lie to others, you will be captured by the ghosts in the mountains!"

"Well, Brother Zhong doesn't lie."

Zheng Pu nodded with a smile, stretched out his hand to rub her little head, and gently wiped away the tears on her face, "Brother Zhong has not deceived Xiao Yan'er, right?"

"Um!"

After receiving the affirmation, little Zheng Yan immediately nodded heavily and burst into tears.

Immediately, he wiped his face with two small hands, broke away from Zheng Pu's arms, got up and ran outside the house.

While running, I was very excited and shouted loudly.

"Mom! Mom! Brother Zhong also agreed! I can go to Chengdu!"

It also made Zheng Pu, who was just about to open his mouth and say something to remind him not to run away, face full of astonishment.

This little girl!

You actually got your mother’s permission a long time ago!?
