Chapter 8 Final Score

The professors’ applause finally brought the audience back to their senses, and thunderous applause and cheers erupted from the auditorium.

Especially the music majors at the back.

Their palms were red from clapping, and their voices were hoarse from shouting.

Several girls completely ignored the image of elegant ladies and stood up, using their hands as "trumpets" and shouted loudly towards the stage.

"Caron!"

"Caroline Van Nin!!!"

"Awesome!~~~~~"

“Great job!!”

Calvin was the most exaggerated person. He directly stepped on the armrest of the seat, climbed up, sat on the backrest, and waved the black silk top hat he just bought so hard that his voice broke.

Music majoring is usually really frustrating.

Many people hold a biased view that musicology has lowered the admission threshold for music majors.

For many outstanding performance majors, their families have provided them with good art education since childhood and ensured the purchase of top-notch musical instruments, laying a solid foundation.

As for those talented composers or conductors? They have a small band or even a whole symphony orchestra at home, so that they can practice their creations at any time and get immediate feedback.

These all cost money!

As for musicology majors, other people's impression of them is that they are a group of guys who are engaged in the so-called "theoretical research on music itself". They are independent of the mainstream performances and competitions in the college. They can only read it in defense occasions.

My own incomprehensible thesis.

Their presence is extremely low at the annual graduation concert.

It happened that it was placed in the third group of the grade together with the composition department and the conducting department. I was taught by the "best ones" for all four years of college.

But this time, Fan Ning's performance on stage made them completely proud!

There is also a more realistic point: if Fan Ning's symphony is finally selected, the author will have considerable say in the choice of musicians for the premiere of his work!

They were excited for Fan Ning and themselves from the bottom of their hearts.

The applause still hasn't stopped.

Fan Ning, who had finished bowing at the front of the stage, raised his head and glanced out of the corner of his eye at Team Leader Ram Cecil, who was sitting in the first row at the side with a look as if he had eaten rat shit.

He thought of the time in the early morning when he was in danger and had important things to do, but his request for leave was rejected, and he thought to himself:

"Team Leader Cecil, I am forced to open my business. You can give me a hard blow. Are you comfortable now?"

"Carolne Van Ning, thank you for bringing us this auditory feast." Dean Gould said, "What I want to ask is, is it really what you just created?"

Fan Ning smiled and was about to speak.

"I want to interrupt. I'm sorry, Dean. I held it in for several minutes. I was so excited." Vice Dean Xu Ci stood up and said, "Fan Ning, whether this piece comes from your live inspiration or from a previous

As long as you organize it and submit it to the small works selection, I will definitely let it appear in the graduation concert."

"Because it is a well-deserved masterpiece of romantic music."

"Okay, I'm done." Professor Xu Ci immediately sat down.

Dean Gould smiled when he heard this: "Although according to convention, each student can perform at most one work, there seems to be no explicit rule that multiple works cannot be accepted at the same time." Then he asked the other judges, "What do you think?"

Professor Lorraine Browne, the first deputy dean and Cecil’s composition teacher, had an old voice and an indifferent tone: “It depends on the comprehensive opinions of each judge and the actual performance in the subsequent rounds.”

"Dear professors, just as I chose the black envelope, what I hope to bring to you at the graduation concert is a symphony." Fan Ning finally took the opportunity to speak.

"Fan Ning, we respect your choice, but please at least give a name to today's piano piece." The dean said, "We don't want to hear it just this time. It should be played and appreciated often.

Right everyone?"

Almost all the judges agreed, and even the people in the audience nodded along.

"It comes from some fantasies and inspirations in today's improvisational test, let's call it 'Fantasy Improvisation'," Fan Ning said.

"Fantasia Impromptu is a great name. By the way, we forgot to publish the scores." Gould smiled, "Caroline Van Ning, your final average score is-"

"8 points!"

"It's too high. It's nearly a full point higher than Merich from the piano department!"

"No one should be able to surpass it."

The audience burst into exclamation again.

Obviously, most of the judges gave full marks or nearly full marks, except for the first deputy dean, Professor Lorraine Browne, who responded indifferently.

But he couldn't lower his score below the passing line against his will, so he achieved this final average result.

Among the 20 points in the preliminary test, Fan Ning already had a certain advantage.

According to the college's practice, the annual graduation concert will be held a few weeks earlier than the graduation ceremony in June, around late May. In the afternoon there is a chamber music venue, and in the evening there is a more important symphony venue, both of which are in the first half.

Perform student works, and in the second half perform master works.

Due to the length of the concert, there are about 5 small-scale works selected and about 15 nominated works; while there are only 1 large-scale works selected and 3 nominated.

Fan Ning put on her gloves and walked off the stage.

"Classmate Carolen, do you have the score of "Fantasia Impromptu"? I want to practice it." A girl with a shy voice and wearing a blue dress came closer and asked.

"I also want."

"I want too."

"I'll practice as soon as I get back."

"What are you waiting for? I'll use it next time I show off at a family gathering."

"I'm going to use it to chase the school girl I like." The boys and girls around me were chirping, including some performance majors who usually looked down on music studies.

This fully demonstrates that good music is the key to moving people.

"Don't worry, everyone, I will sort it out when I get home and share it with everyone." Fan Ning responded politely.

"Carolone, will you include Fantasia Impromptu in your official work number and publish it?"

"Classmate Fan Ning, who would you dedicate this to?"

More and more people are crowding around in the auditorium corridor on this side.

"Ahem." Fan Ning cleared his throat awkwardly, "Everyone, we will communicate later. There are still students who need to be tested later."

"That's right, I'm really sorry." Everyone just woke up from a dream.

In the next test, perhaps due to the excessive shock and psychological pressure caused by Fan Ning's previous performance, everyone's performance was mediocre, and not even a few scored higher than No. 1 Maugham.

Cecil, the leader of the composition department, whose number is 17, is relatively behind him. After taking the stage, he drew a set of bass strings composed of 8 notes and improvised a variation that included the theme and three fixed bass variations, and won the award.

The score of 7 is 2 lower than that of Professor Murrich of the Piano Department.

If his number could be drawn before Fanning's, or if he maintained a good attitude and didn't make any mistakes during his performance, he should have been able to get second place.

Cecil came down from the stage and sat in the audience. His chest rose and fell for a long time before he calmed down.

Flashing before his eyes was Vincent Van Nin's always constipated face, as well as the Turner Museum of Art in East Mecklon, which had been on display for more than ten years.

In terms of popularity, reputation from art critics, and quality of events, it ranks second to the Mecklon Free Museum.

Fortunately, three years ago, this annoying guy disappeared while attending the 39th Harvest Art Festival! It was probably because he encountered some accidental traffic accident, security incident in a foreign country, or contracted some serious infectious disease during the period.

Kill and die!

Cecil's family has several councilors in the local councils of Lenia District, East Mecklen District and South Quay District. The Mecklen Free Museum is one of his family's cultural industries. After Fanning's father disappeared, the museum

By ostracizing exhibition artists, blocking visitors, making malicious comments and complaints, interfering with collection auctions, etc., it successfully accelerated the closure of the Turner Museum of Art.

He recalled this and finally showed a sneer.

"Unsurprisingly, the re-examination is chamber music writing, which needs to be evaluated by the entire Ufranser music community in the new works exhibition hall of the City Concert Hall."

Although he thinks very highly of himself, he knows that the fact that he ranked third in the first test, more than 1 point behind, has been confirmed. Negative emotions are useless. The next thing that needs to be carefully prepared is the subsequent test.

"I am bound to get the premiere opportunity of "Symphony No. 1". Works...? Connections?...Influence?...I really want to see what you can compare with me in the re-examination?"
