Chapter 15 The Gathering

Eve stepped out of the carriage and raised her head. Under the dim sky, there were all drifting snowflakes. The snow was not very heavy, but it was enough to bring extreme cold to Old Dunling, plunging this restless city into an iron-gray desolation.

middle.

Among the monotonous colors, bunches of firelight rose up, like blooming and swaying flowers. It was a temporary bonfire built by people using oil drums and some discarded wood. Everyone gathered around to keep warm. After a short pause, they waved again.

Pick up a shovel and work hard to clear the snow before the road is covered by heavy snow.

The clanging sound continued, playing a metallic symphony on the lonely street.

Eveha let out a breath of white air, and the gusts of cold wind made her wrap up her coat tightly. This was the first time in her memory that she had seen such an old Dunling. She looked forward, and the Stuart family's mansion was in front of her.

Different from the previous silence, this time it seemed much livelier.

You could see many people walking around in a hurry in the courtyard, and firelight flickered behind every window.

This place became the temporary office of the purification agency, and Eve was invited to attend a banquet here... In fact, even now, she doesn't know what kind of banquet it is.

No, I don’t even know if it’s a banquet. After all, Oscar is involved in this matter. No matter what this weird old guy does, Eve will not be surprised.

Eve paused on the street for a few seconds, not walking in immediately, and stepped into a small snow pit under her body.

"Ah... the one who built the country?"

Eve muttered quietly.

It was probably some kind of strange competitiveness or some kind of fighting idea. At first, she didn't feel much about it. After all, she and Seleu would both inherit the title of Duke, but the time was different.

But now Seleu has become a nation-builder, and in a sense has become Eve's boss. This feeling is quite subtle, and she can't tell what's wrong.

Eve did not worry about this for too long. She had always been cheerful. She stamped her feet and shook off the snow on her body. She was about to walk across the street and knocked on the door of the mansion, but she saw a pale white man on the other side of the street.

The figure has been waiting for a long time.

"Why are you waiting here?"

Eve walked over quickly and patted the snow on Seliu's body. This girl had always had a thin sense of existence. In such a snowy day, if you don't pay attention, it is really difficult to detect her existence.

"Pick you up."

Seliu looked like he cherished words like gold.

"you really……"

Eve smiled awkwardly. Although she had known Seleu for a long time, she still felt a little strange every time she looked like this.

She is like an exquisite porcelain doll, with all her emotions and thoughts hidden behind the mask. If you try to peek into her eyes, you might be captured by her, and you will be seen naked under her scrutiny.

Eve knew that Seleu would not do this, but sometimes she also tried her best to avoid looking at Seleu. This was probably how friends were, close but keeping a certain distance, so that those secrets could continue to be hidden in the shadows.

in the corner.

"Is everyone else here?"

Eve and Seliu stood together and neither of them went in.

"Almost...there should be two more people missing."

Seliu stretched out her fingers and pinched them a few times. Probably due to these many days of hard work, she felt that her intelligence was deteriorating, and even basic arithmetic became more difficult.

"Two more to go? Who is it?"

Eve asked curiously. She was delayed by something when she arrived. She thought she was the last to arrive, but it turned out that there were others who were slower than herself.

"yes……"

Seleucus was about to say the names of the two guys, but the sound of horses neighing in the street interrupted everything.

I saw a carriage staggering out of the snow and fog, the horses breathing in bursts of hot white air, and their iron hoofs leaving indentations on the snow.

The coachman kept waving the reins and shouting orders. He looked extremely irritable and in a hurry.

Eve was a little confused, and then a name appeared in her memory. Eve didn't know why she suddenly thought of him. It was probably because every time he appeared, he would do so in such a funny and embarrassing way.

The carriage stopped, and there were sounds of quarrels, and the guys inside might have started fighting, and the carriage was shaking constantly.

"So you never read your mailbox?"

A voice yelled.

"The problem is that the purification agency doesn't need letters to communicate. I put on my clothes and opened the door to my workstation. What do I need this thing for?"

Another voice retorted.

"Then why don't you look at my mailbox? If you're just eating and drinking here, you have to do something, right?"

"Who knew someone would actually send you a letter? And isn't it usually a death email? Besides, when it comes to doing things, I've chopped all the wood these days!"

As the quarrel continued, the old butler loosened the reins and stepped out of the carriage. He said to Seliu with a gloomy face.

"Something happened and these two guys completely forgot about this."

Seliu nodded and said.

“Expected.”

In her eyes, Lorenzo is a very reliable person. Of course, this reliability is only limited to things related to monsters. If he does other things, this person will be like entering an energy-saving mode, no matter what he does,

With a bit of stupidity.

The old housekeeper opened the car door, and the two figures fell out fighting each other, rolling together with the snow on the ground. A few seconds later, two miserable screams sounded.

"ah!!!"

"Ah...wait, what are you shouting!"

Lorenzo rolled on the ground, stretched out one foot from the blanket, and kicked Kestrel hard in the face.

"chilly!"

Kestrel no longer cares about fighting with Lorenzo. He is wrapped in a blanket, stepping on the snow with his bare feet, running and jumping, as if he is stepping on lava under his feet.

"damn thing!"

Lorenzo completely ignored Eve and Seleu who were standing aside. The blanket swayed, and a naked figure immediately rushed out and knocked down the kestrel who was trying to escape.

"Lorenzo!"

Kestrel screamed, but was unable to resist Lorenzo's brutality. The witcher's physique was extraordinary. He stepped on the fallen Kestrel and then pulled the blanket off him.

"Ah...this..."

Eve's expression was completely frozen. She wanted to say something, but couldn't. She raised and put her hands up and down, looking hesitant.

Seliu's cold face became a little looser. No matter how cold-blooded the person is, it would be difficult for them to maintain their inner peace when they see this funny scene, let alone that they are still wearing colorful pants.

"Open the door!"

Lorenzo beat Kestrel before him. He banged on the door hard, but the door of the mansion was closed tightly, as if Lorenzo's arrival was not welcome.

The kestrel behind him also got up at this time. It had to be said that it was cold in the old Dunling. Now this guy had a runny nose and snowflakes on his hair. He reached out and grabbed the blanket that Lorenzo had left behind and shook it.

I shook off the snowflakes above. Although it was cold, it could be used to cover my body to some extent.

In order to rush for time, the old butler did not give the two of them time to change clothes. They were dragged into the carriage in full "vacation" mode. Fortunately, Lorenzo emphasized a few days ago that they should wear some clothes at home no matter what, otherwise

Both of them don't even have underwear now.

"Lorenzo! You piece of shit!"

The kestrel was like a corpse crawling out of the snow, and it pounced on Lorenzo with its teeth and claws bared. It was also at this moment that Seleu had had enough of this farce. She coughed a few times, finally drawing attention to this thing hidden in the wind.

Girl in the snow.

"Hey, good morning!"

Lorenzo was holding the door with one hand, looking elegant under the dim sky. A cold wind blew up, making the blanket on his body rustle, and his feet in the snow began to turn red from the cold.

Kestrel's eyes were a little dull. He glanced at Seliu and then at Eve next to him. He wrapped the blanket around him a little shyly, and then his throat began to tremble and he made some whimpering sound.

"Lorenzo! I'll kill you!"

Kestrel's sanity collapsed.

"So these two guys just came here?"

"It's not surprising that Lorenzo can do this, why Kestrel is also going crazy with him."

"Have you lived with Lorenzo for too long? It's only been a few days, and you've been assimilated like this..."

Waves of whispers sounded after themselves, echoing back and forth in this small space.

"It's just like being at home."

Lorenzo was wrapped in a blanket, which outlined the curvature of his body, and then he sank deeply into the sofa, with the burning fireplace in front of him, and the same was true for the kestrel, right next to Lorenzo.

All these are so similar, if the room was darker and those strange guests were driven away, Lorenzo would even feel that this was his office and he would not leave at all.

"Hey! Kestrel, are you dead?"

Just like at home, Lorenzo skillfully raised his feet and kicked the sofa next to him, but this time there was only silence. The kestrel was like an autistic child, burying itself in the fur, like a big ball of hair.

, if it weren’t for the fact that the fur ball still had some ups and downs, people would mistakenly think that he was dead.

In fact, in a sense, the kestrel is indeed dead.

"You should be more open-minded about this kind of thing. We are all friends anyway, right? Friends should be honest with each other."

Lorenzo stretched out his arm, stuck it into the ball of hair, and tried to fish the kestrel out.

"So what if there are passers-by? If you think about it this way, maybe this is the first and last time these passers-by see you, right, rounding off, they have never seen you at all, you are just a rush in their lives.

Just a passerby."

Lorenzo enlightens Kestrel with his strange outlook on life.

"Look, if you think about it this way, it's a lot easier."

"So you usually have this mentality and do these damn things?"

The shrike came over and he was invited.

"What is a strange mentality? Isn't this reasonable enough?"

Lorenzo retorted.

"Passers are just passers-by after all, why should I care what they think of me? As for friends, they are all friends, and they must be familiar with me. No matter how weird things I do, you can understand, right?"

Shrike's expression twitched slightly, and it sounded like Lorenzo had explained a lot, but also seemed to have explained nothing.

"You just want to use these fallacies to rationalize your behavior, right?"

Another voice sounded, Hercule came over, and Seleu invited many people, most of whom were familiar to Lorenzo.

"Where's Poirot?"

Lorenzo deliberately changed the subject, looked at Hercule, and asked the furry little creature.

Under Hercule's coat, a squirming movement was seen. The shrike's head poked out from between the collar, glanced at Lorenzo, and then retracted.

"Is it warm?"

Lorenzo rubbed his hands, looking eager to try.

"It's very warm. This small animal was originally used to make fur. Their fur is dense and thick." Hercule explained.

Lorenzo turned around, lay on the back of the chair, and looked at the people in the room. Unlike the expected banquet, due to venue restrictions, there was only such a large place left for them in Stuart's mansion.

There was no food or wine, everyone just sat in the corner, talking to each other, waiting for the host to appear.

Lorenzo waved to them. He also saw Sa Liang Xi and Shao Liangye, while Rhodes stood cautiously not far away. As Sa Liang Xi's silver bell-like laughter rang, Rhodes' face turned red and he became even more at a loss.

Got up.

"Where's Seleu?"

Lan Jade asked, she summoned these people, but the master disappeared after sending Lorenzo in.

In fact, this is nothing. Everyone is familiar with it. It is like an intimate gathering. If you add a long table and delicious food, it will be like the birthday of God.

"have no idea."

Lorenzo shook his head, he didn't know where Seleu went.

He wanted to ask the old butler standing in the corner, but seeing his expression of trying to suppress his anger, Lorenzo thought about it and decided not to.

These people suddenly broke into his home and were holding strange parties. For this grumpy old housekeeper, this was really unbearable.

"Want a drink? Lorenzo!"

The attendant pushed the dining cart, and Eve took out a bottle of ancient fine wine from it. This was the private collection of the Stuart family. It was a rare treasure when supplies were in short supply.

"No, no, no, I want an expensive drink."

Lorenzo wrapped his blanket around his head and walked over quickly. He glanced at the old butler and stretched out his hand to shake the wine bottles arranged in the dining room. He saw the old butler's face getting worse and worse, and the joy on Lorenzo's face.

It is also getting more and more serious.

Just when Lorenzo suspected that the old butler was about to draw a gun and shoot, he finally stopped and took out a bottle of slightly cold wine.

"That's it!"

The old butler had a gloomy face. He really couldn't stand Lorenzo anymore, so he opened the door and left, leaving only the people who didn't know what was going on, and Lorenzo with a smirk on his face.

Eve on the side sighed. She probably understood what Lorenzo meant. She couldn't help but feel that this guy was very sick. But thinking about it, this was not bad. Compared to the cold, bloody and cruel, this kind of Lorenzo made people feel.

Much better.

"So why do we have this 'party'?"

Lorenzo muttered, it was more of a party than a banquet... It might not even be considered a party, but here, Lorenzo saw these familiar faces for the first time in a long time, and everyone appeared here at the same time.
