486 The meaning of war

The same thing that seemed to have entered a dead zone was the 201st Armored Division heading south. When Tony looked at Boyost from his tank, he even missed the days when the refugees blocked the road a few days ago.

Now, he could no longer see any living humans. After advancing 30 kilometers, apart from numerous bones, there were only demon dog troops that appeared occasionally and tried to sneak attack them.

Because the reconnaissance troops are very far forward, it is impossible for a sneak attack to happen. Most of the demon dogs will be directly eliminated by the air force of Airan Hill, and the remaining few will come into contact with the army troops. How big can they set off?

You can imagine the waves.

As the vanguard of the flank attack on Barmesil, Tony's 201st Armored Division had already crossed the Franno River using a pontoon bridge. They tried to surround Bjorst from the flanks, but they could not reach the outskirts of Bjorst.

Encountered any decent resistance.

The demonic forces seemed to have retreated south after attacking the humans. They left behind a mess, swept away almost all the food and supplies, and burned down most of the town buildings.

The Puppet Empire was set on fire by Elanthil. Here, the devil himself set a fire and burned down all the once brilliant and glorious civilizations.

The Boyost in front of you is a ruined place, and it is so quiet that it makes people feel frightened. It is just waiting here quietly, as if waiting for someone to wake it up and save it again.

"I'm really fed up with this kind of silence..." Tony looked at the city not far away where the burning had passed and no black smoke was even coming out, and he complained: "It's been three days and I haven't seen a single person.

Living Barmeshir people."

"At least we don't have to worry about people jamming the road...but the roads here are really bad." The gunner also leaned half of his body on the turret, looking at the quiet town in the distance, and said to Tony.

Since the loaders and electromechanical personnel were removed from their tanks, chatting could only be limited to three people.

Tony was the commander, so he was pretty good. He could use the radio to joke with other commanders. The remaining gunners and drivers had no choice but to seize every opportunity to chat.

Looking at the tragic scenes along the way, Tony was actually in no mood to joke. He hoped that he could liberate these places occupied by demons and save the remaining civilians of Balmesil.

It's just that he is used to seeing life and death, and is used to the damn war before him. Now he is no longer the salesman selling TV sets, he is a second lieutenant of Alan Hill, and a real tank commander.

.

"Forget it, let's wait for the feedback from the reconnaissance team." No matter how accustomed he was, he was unwilling to continue looking at the lifeless city in front of him, especially after he took a vacation and returned to Naru.

Nowadays, Naru is so prosperous that it is unrecognizable. However, he has not been back in just two years. Tony, who was born and raised in Naru, cannot even recognize his hometown.

There are so many people there that it’s crowded, the streets there are flat and straight, cars parked next to each other on the roadside, the streets and alleys are lined with tall buildings, and the neon lights at night make it hard to tell whether it’s day or night.

When Tony walked on such streets, he realized that the war he was participating in was different from previous wars.

The past wars were despairing, with no future consumption visible. They were simply battles between lords and lords, emperors and emperors.

But the war he is participating in is a war to defend the freedom of human civilization. It is a meaningful war, and it is a war that must be carried out to the end.

Tony had not yet understood the meaning of what the preachers said on weekdays. But after comparing it with his own eyes, Tony understood: his fight was not meaningless, he was doing something right, and he was doing something right.

What a man must do!

An A-130 air gunboat was hovering in the distance, seemingly looking for a target to attack. Just because there were no living people in the city, it did not mean that there were no demonic troops stationed there.

In order to cover the retreat of its main force to the south, the devil still left some cannon fodder to guard the city and the roads that must pass through, to block the troops of Alan Hill.

The city in front of them was not completely burned down. The reason was that the devil hoped to use the ruins and street fighting to delay the march of Elanthir's army south.

After all, if the two sides really competed in terms of marching speed, the devil would have no chance of winning.

"Whoosh!" A roar passed overhead, and Tony shrank his neck subconsciously. The gunner's reaction was exactly the same, and then both of them involuntarily looked at the sky in the distance.

That's a 155mm caliber howitzer shell! Two experienced people can identify this classic weapon by listening to the sound.

The m109 self-propelled howitzer is the backbone of firepower that accompanies tank operations. It is also the self-propelled howitzer model with the most equipment in Ireland.

The shell roared past the armored troops, passed over the open space, and then crashed into the silent city.

Then, the next second, a huge explosion echoed in the empty city. Within the dilapidated city wall, a black smoke rushed into the sky, expanded and spread in all directions.

"I feel much better now." Finally hearing the familiar sound of explosions, the gunner's mood seemed to improve a lot.

Tony also felt that the battlefield he was familiar with had returned, and he picked up his binoculars to look at the location where the shell fell.

This shelling was simply a warning, an aimless attack without correction or guidance.

Simply tell the enemy that we are already here, get out and surrender, or continue to cower and wait to die!

So after this lonely cannonball fell, no subsequent bombardment followed.

"I didn't see the devil's army stationed on the city wall... It's the same as the previous city! They have learned wisely and know that standing on the city wall is no different from committing suicide." Tony held the telescope and complained while observing.

While he was complaining, the A-130 gunboat hovering in the sky like a vulture opened fire, and dense ammunition poured down. For a while, Boyost became lively again, no longer dead.

A few minutes later, an order from the battalion commander sounded in Tony's headset: "Stand where you are! Rest for two hours! Let the infantry go up... Demonic troops were found in the city, and there are quite a few of them!"
