Chapter 389 Float Parade

Farm work like planting or grazing is pretty much the same everywhere. You can't make much money doing the same work back home, so many people make a desperate move and sneak to the United States to work.

Especially those couples who came here together have worked hard for several years to build a good relationship with their employer, hide from the immigration bureau, and try to save some money.

Once they give birth to a child in the United States, and when the child turns 18 and chooses American citizenship, the parents can obtain a green card based on the dependency clause of humanitarian immigration, and all the hard work will be worth it.

Illegal immigrants in the United States mainly come from Asia, Africa and Central America, with India and Mexico having the largest numbers.

Montana here is relatively far north, and its economy is mainly based on mining and animal husbandry, so the majority of illegal immigrants are Mexicans.

There are a lot of illegal immigrants in the more than thirty ranches in Celias Town. According to Jessica, there must be at least three to four hundred people, and they are not included in government statistics.

Even the perfunctory Garrison Ranch has seven or eight foreigners working there without legal status.

Cheap wages are part of the reason, but the most important thing is that there are few people here, so it’s good if there are people working, but there aren’t so many legal laborers.

The float parade has begun.

Americans are really good at playing. The designs of each float are unique, have stories, performances, and are pure exhibitions.

The sources of the floats are also diverse, including self-propelled vehicles such as trucks and pickups, as well as towed RVs and trailers, as well as horse-drawn carriages, bullock carts, and deer carts, which are driven by their owners through the central square.

Jessica basically knew the owners of these floats. She introduced them one by one to Sun Dahai and others, and briefly explained what the decorations and performances on the floats represented.

Speaking of which, the cultural gap between the United States and China is really huge!

Sun Dahai watched for a long time, but he still couldn't figure out what a man dressed as a priest was performing on that float. Looking at the movements, it looked like a famous folk dance in China. Could it be that priests occasionally guest-starred as wizards?

What's more, the American flag is printed everywhere. Even on a float, several beautiful young girls who are performing wear bikinis with the American flag pattern.

Tom Battelle and Chen Feng both felt embarrassed for wearing such unrestrained outfits. Fang Ying even blushed for a long time and did not dare to look up.

Sun Dahai didn't have anything to do with it, but he complained in his mind: If this were the case in China in the 1980s, anyone who dared to print the national flag on their underwear would probably be arrested.

Amid constant applause and cheers from the audience, the floats participating in the parade were displayed one after another. When the last float left, it was already past 11 noon.

The town of Celias arranges activities throughout the day on Independence Day, and lunch is also one of the activities, which is subsidized. After the parade, there are several stalls making lunch on site around the square.

Of course, the American dishes here are mainly American. To be honest, there is really nothing special about the American dishes. I can barely find some special features, that is, they focus on nutrition, simplicity and quickness.

Jessica said that these lunch stalls require special application, and the cooking level and ingredients must be reviewed. Because the town has given subsidies, the prices of today's dishes are quite cheap.

Audiences in the square had already lined up in front of different stalls according to their preferences. People participating in the float parade and performances also took off their makeup and rushed over.

The dishes at several stalls are different, and they are basically set meals. A set meal consisting of a double-decker steak and chicken steak, French fries, salad and a large Coke only costs $2.99, which is higher than the price of the same set meal at McDonald's during this period.

It's more than half cheaper.

In addition, there are stalls specializing in barbecue, steak, lamb chops, chicken wings, pork, and some vegetables.

It is understandable that American catering actually consists of these things. In addition to fast food such as hamburgers and sandwiches, the only remaining food is barbecue.

In addition to American catering stalls, there are also specialty foods from other countries. German bratwurst, Japanese sushi and ramen, and even Mexican-style stalls.

Chili chicken TACO (Mexican burrito), Mexican cheese grilled corn tortillas, etc. are all classic Mexican flavors.

However, Sun Dahai and the others were tired of eating these flavors in the past few days, so today I would like to thank you.

"Uncle Chen, starting from next year, our Chinese food stall must appear. It doesn't have to be too complicated, just steamed buns or dumplings, but it must be there."

Sun Dahai couldn't stand it, so he quietly gave Chen Feng instructions. He had been wandering around the American continent for more than half a month and missed authentic Chinese food.

"What are you talking about?" Jessica asked

Sun Dahai said what he just said to Chen Feng in Chinese. Although Jessica was right next to him, she still didn't understand.

Sun Dahai repeated what he just said in English, and Jessica clapped her hands and applauded.

She has never eaten Chinese food, because Chinese people are mainly concentrated in big cities in the western and eastern United States. In the central and western regions of the United States and the Rocky Mountains, Chinese people and Chinese food are relatively rare.

There were crowds of people in the east and west of the central square, and many of them had already begun to eat. Sun Dahai and the others divided their work, each one lined up in a queue, and bought a lot of food from several stalls.

Then they found a place with little shade, and everyone gathered in a circle, sat on the ground, put the various foods they bought in the middle, and ate together.

Eating in this way was very fast, and everyone finished eating in a short while. Joseph had not arrived yet, so everyone drank drinks and chatted while waiting for him.

After a while, Joseph walked over with several people. When they arrived, he introduced everyone to Sun Dahai one by one.

It turns out that these are all powerful figures in the town. They are the mayor of the town, Capbinson, the police chief, Rolandella, the tax collector, Senna, the principal of the school, Van Dilinal, and the director of the town clinic, Mrs. Joseph.

Among them, Mrs. Joseph is Joseph's wife and the most experienced doctor in the town.

They all now knew about Sun Dahai taking over the Garrison Ranch. They all said some kind words to each other, and they were considered to have gotten to know each other.

After Joseph had a quick lunch, he asked Jessica to find the Ents and his son, and they took their car to the Garrison Ranch.

Garrison Ranch is northwest of Celias Town, more than 30 kilometers away from the town. From the town, you can drive along the road for half an hour to reach it. Ent Airport is right in the middle of the town and the ranch.

Joseph, Sun Dahai, Chen Feng and Linkwood were all sitting in Ent's car, traveling all the way, introducing the situation of the ranch to Sun Dahai and others.
