Chapter 29 Corridor Ghost

In a hidden alley a street away.

Bai Shi stopped in a spherical space. Through the curved wall, he could see the dark soil outside and the huge grass roots interspersed in the soil.

The system-modified Poke Ball is very livable, has a suitable temperature, has a ventilation device, and can see outside in one direction.

Shiraishi lay on the inner wall of the ball and listened. There was no movement around him. Then he raised his hand and poked the button on the top of the elf ball.

The elf ball popped open, and Shiraishi's eyes blurred. When he came to his senses again, he was already sitting on the ground.

He lowered his head, shook his head, and patted his clothes to let the soil fall off his body.

After putting away the Poke Ball, he was torn for a while between exploring the haunted house and going home to sleep. In the end, Shiraishi decided not to waste the remaining nearly ten minutes of Mask time.

He took a bus and arrived near the haunted house. It was dark at night, and Baishi passed by a creaking old telephone pole and came to the ancient bungalow he was looking for.

——The bungalow has its own courtyard, with a Gothic-style iron fence in front of the courtyard gate. The overall look is sinister, and it lives up to its reputation as a "haunted house."

Shiraishi stared at the fence, a little confused.

This kind of design with spikes on the top is not impossible to climb, but when you think about the consequences of your feet slipping when crossing the top...

He turned around and looked for other entrances.

With such a big yard and such a long wall, Bai Shi couldn't believe that there was no place for people to walk.

What's more, in his impression, this haunted house is actually inhabited by people.

Shiraishi came to the gap between the haunted house and the neighbor's yard and activated the [[Special] Tracking Hound].

Soon, the grass beside my feet moved.

The fox first poked out the tip of its nose, and then arched it out. It looked up at Bai Shi, shook its tail and said hello: "Hey."

Bai Shi looked down at it: "Look for a way into the courtyard."

The fox nodded, turned around and lay close to the ground, and began to sniff around in the grass.

After more than ten seconds, Shiraishi saw it stop in front of a particularly lush weed growing against the wall.

Shiraishi walked there and knelt down to take a closer look.

The side courtyard wall is different from the main entrance. It is a cement wall with barbed wire on the top.

Bai Shi approached the base of the wall and pushed aside the grass. Hidden behind the grass was an inconspicuous little door of the same color as the wall.

The small door is about half a meter high, with a bearing installed on the top. When Shiraishi raises his hand and pushes it, the door panel opens upward with a creak, revealing the passage to the courtyard.

It would be easier if there was a door.

Shiraishi asked the fox to wait here, and he walked outside a street, activated the mask, hid the main body and the poke ball, and ran back quickly.

Shiraishi entered the haunted house through the small door, stood up and looked around, and found a door on the side wall of the bungalow four or five meters in front.

I walked over and gave it a test push, but found that the door was unlocked.

Shiraishi walked into the house unceremoniously and closed the door behind his back.

There was a statue of a monster with teeth and claws lying across the door. Shiraishi bypassed it and stepped into the corridor, and soon entered a place similar to a hall.

The fox at his feet has been following him quietly, occasionally looking up at him, as if urging him to give instructions.

Shiraishi asked it to remind him when someone was approaching, and planned to search the house first to see if he could trigger a hidden mission.

If not, let the fox find the person hiding in the house, and he will go directly to the police.

When the police catch the person, Shiraishi can directly ask the police about the "truth about the haunted house" and complete the task, which is very labor-saving.

Except for some large pieces of furniture that had not been moved away, all the rooms in this home were empty. Shiraishi's search was very fast.

When he checked the second floor, the fox suddenly bumped his calf.

Soon, Shiraishi heard footsteps approaching from around the corner.

Seeing the fox hiding in the study next to him, Shiraishi walked in quietly, closed the study door until there was only a crack left, and peeked out.

A few seconds later, an unusually thin woman holding a candlestick and pushing a dining cart passed by the door as if floating.

The man was wearing an old-style black sarong, with withered white hair that reached his waist. The bangs in the front were messy and covered his face, revealing only a thin and gaunt chin.

This should be the true form of the "ghost".

I don't know where she plans to go.

Shiraishi was just about to follow him and take a look. But at this moment, there was a soft "pop" and "pop" sound coming from the side.

When I turned around, I saw the fox squatting next to a wardrobe, tapping the bottom drawer with his paws.

...is there something inside?

Bai Shi gently closed the door and walked to the fox.

He carefully lifted up the drawer and pulled it out very slowly, almost without making a sound.

The drawer was as empty as the bookshelf. Shiraishi almost took it out completely, and finally saw a picture frame in the innermost corner. The glass frame was covered with dust.
