Chapter 4 The Encounter in the Staircase

It's getting late.

The teaching buildings on campus are brightly lit.

Outside the school gate, one after another vendors have set up stalls and are waiting for the hungry students.

Standing at the gate of No. 1 Middle School, Liu Weicheng stood next to a vendor selling fried skewers. From time to time he looked at the campus gate that had not yet opened, acting like a hungry parent waiting to pick up students from school.

No different from other waiting parents, except younger.

As the bell rang for evening self-study in the school, the originally silent campus suddenly became noisy. Many students rushed out of the school gate after coming out of their respective classes.

Various vendors who noticed this news had already prepared the snacks for sale, and the school gate that was just scattered suddenly became crowded and lively.

The noise reached my ears.

"Hmm... The business of selling pancakes is not very good. There are quite a lot of people around the fried skewers."

When he opened his mouth to talk to himself, he muttered in a low voice.

Liu Weicheng observed the surrounding situation with his eyes, and he secretly classified the customer flow in front of each stall into different grades. After more than ten minutes of observation, he found that the customer flow for ordinary snacks was obviously much less.

Many students stayed and waited for stalls such as fried rice and fried noodles. Other than that, the stall selling fried skewers was the most popular.

Eyes scan.

The fried skewers stall near the school gate was overcrowded, and there were two stalls selling fried skewers near the end, but the customer flow was obviously much lower than the stall at the front.

Geographical location is also important.

Liu Weicheng now has a deposit, but he can't invest it all. If he wants to make good profits in the short term, setting up a stall seems to be a good choice.

After there were fewer students, Liu Weicheng did not stay where he was, but instead went to a stall selling fried skewers and ordered a few skewers.

Fried gluten, greens, baby cabbage and vegetables are all 50 cents per skewer, meat skewers are relatively more expensive, and starch sausage is 50 cents per skewer.

Judging from the price of goods in this era, the profits cannot be underestimated. Putting aside meat, vegetable fried skewers can bring the most considerable profits. The extremely low purchase price can be sold at a very high price.

After a rough estimate in his mind, Liu Weicheng found that if the items in front of the stall were sold out, the profit could reach a few hundred.

Not to mention that the vendors only sell once a day, so if they open the stalls at noon, they can still make a lot of profits.

In today's era when most people's monthly salary is only a few hundred yuan, it is indeed a huge profit industry to have such profits, and apart from the cost of starting a stall, there is almost no subsequent investment.

While he was thinking, the owner of the fried skewers stall had fried the food Liu Weicheng had just ordered, brushed it with sauce and sprinkled some chili powder on it.

After paying the money and holding the fried skewers in his hand, Liu Weicheng took the opportunity to pick up the fried vegetables and put them into his mouth.

The taste in the mouth is not very good.

Maybe it's because it's a bit old when fried, or maybe the sauce has an average taste, but in short, it only tastes edible to Liu Weicheng.

If this flavor can sell well among students, he is absolutely confident that he can surpass them.

Chewing with his mouth, Liu Weicheng stood in front of the stall and watched.

And his gaze was caught by the stall owner. This honest stall owner didn't know that the young man in front of him wanted to replace him, so he asked with a smile.

“It tastes good!”

"Yeah, it's quite delicious."

Hearing the other party talking to him, Liu Weicheng responded with the same smile, and then asked casually while eating the fried skewers in his hand.

"I think your business is pretty good. You can make a lot of money in a day, right?"

"Business is just like that, you can't make much money."

Ambiguous answer.

The stall owner put the fried skewers ordered by the students into the oil pan and closed the lid. A sizzling sound rang in his ears. He took the time to look up at Liu Weicheng and continued.

"Those who wake up early every day and work hard at night will barely earn enough to spend."

"That's quite hard work."

"Anyway, I just can't take any time off, so I can't just do nothing. Hehe... life is so busy, so I have to be busy."

"That makes sense."

The two of them chatted with each other, and it wasn't until Liu Weicheng finished the fried skewers in his hands that he chose to say goodbye to each other.

The students at the school gate have almost left, and Liu Weicheng has also completed surveying the surrounding situation.

After a conversation with the fried skewers boss just now, he has already made up his mind to join them. The cost is not high, and even if it fails, there won't be much loss.

And cooking ingredients is not too difficult for him. He will buy a second-hand refrigerator and go to the vegetable market early tomorrow morning...

Along the way, he was planning the stall in his mind.

The school is not far from where I live, and it didn't take long for me to arrive downstairs.

Walking on the dark corridor, the light bulb that was still on yesterday seemed to have malfunctioned. In the dim environment, I could only concentrate on not missing the stairs. In the silent environment, the only sound was his footsteps slowly going up the stairs...

"Pa bang bang~"

The sound of running in slippers on the corridor rang out, and before Liu Weicheng could react, a flashlight shined directly in front of his face. After his vision got used to the dim environment, he was suddenly illuminated by the light, causing him to subconsciously open his palms to block his eyes.

Tilting his head and squinting his eyes.

A pleasant voice sounded in his ears.

"Grandma? You go..."

Halfway through his words, he stopped like an old Walkman cassette. After a few seconds, the light of the flashlight tilted to the side, allowing Liu Weicheng to lower his arm that was blocking his eyes.

Her forehead was exposed with a single ponytail, and because of the backlight, she could only take a rough look at her.

He was wearing the summer short-sleeved school uniform of No. 1 Middle School. It looked like he had just gotten home and hadn't had time to change out of it.

The two looked at each other in confusion. After seeing Liu Weicheng, she fell into a brief daze. After a while, she finally spoke in a low voice and whispered, "I got the wrong person."

The sentences are short.

Then he turned around and jogged back the way he came, holding a flashlight.

"..."

Liu Weicheng walked up the stairs and followed the girl's back with his eyes... watching her open the door and enter the room at the end of the corridor.

There was no image of the other party in his memory. It would be better to say that he had no communication with most of the residents on this floor.

After all, I just became an apprentice in a hardware store more than a year ago, and I have often left early and come back late over the past year. It is fair to say that I have not interacted with the surrounding neighbors.

Without further thinking, Liu Weicheng returned to his room.

Turning on the light, taking off his shoes and lying on the bed, he turned over and prepared to stretch. The sound of dull footsteps came from outside the poorly soundproofed room, along with the sound of plastic bottles colliding.

Then I heard the sound of the girl holding a flashlight opening the door and her voice.

"Grandma, where have you been?"

"Why did you go out to pick up bottles again? It's so dark outside..."

"boom!"

With the sound of the door closing, the unclear conversation completely disappeared.

Turning over again, Liu Weicheng stared directly at the ceiling above his head.

It is easy to tell from the conversation just now that the girl probably found that the light in the stairwell was broken when she came back from school. She was afraid that her elderly grandma would not be able to see clearly when she went upstairs, so she hurried over with a flashlight.

What a filial and good boy...

With a sigh from the bottom of his heart, Liu Weicheng's mind flashed to the figure under the backlight.

I don’t know what she looks like, but her face shape should be pretty good. Her oval face can be considered a standard beauty face, but it’s too dark and I can’t see her figure clearly...

"..."

Raising his hand to look at his face, Liu Weicheng realized that his thoughts had gone astray.

Nowadays, he has no intention of caring about the shape of the other person's face.

He exhaled a breath and put his hands behind his head.

Because it was too quiet, I was humming an unknown ditty, and in my mind I was planning what I was going to do tomorrow.
