Chapter 27: Lu Family

Minzhou is mountainous, and the Lu family relies on the continuous mountains in Minzhou to survive from the Qing Dynasty to this day.

As Ender and his party walked on the muddy dirt road, yellow muddy water splashed up, staining Angers' shiny black leather shoes with yellow scars.

The atmosphere in the team was a bit serious. Angers was holding a small box and wearing a very formal suit, as if he was going to a funeral.

Ange didn't know how to speak and announced the bad news to Lu Shanyan's family.

In Ange's imagination, he would appear at Lu's house like a ghost, and then say to Lu Shanyan's widow:

"Your husband was killed while slaying the dragon. This is his relic. Please express your condolences."

Amid the cries of the woman and child, Angers handed over the small box containing Lu Shanyan's clothes and announced the bad news to the poor woman.

It sounds ironic that a hero can only be buried in a foreign country after his death.

Angers had not experienced too many life, separation, and death at this time, so he still felt a little confused when faced with such things.

Ender was obviously more relaxed. He seemed to be walking, but in fact he secretly used a levitation technique to keep his shoes from touching the ground, so that they would not be stained by the mud on the ground.

Since he was walking at the front, the people behind him didn't notice anything strange about Ender.

Although Ender wanted to say a few words aloud, the solemn atmosphere prevented him from speaking.

Lu's house is located on the outskirts of Minzhou City. It is a house with gray tiles and white walls, and it has the charm of ancient southern architecture.

The house didn't look big, but it was obvious that someone had taken good care of it.

He walked forward with dignity and gently clicked the door knocker twice.

Ender was behind, using magic tricks to wipe away the mud and water on Angers body.

After a while the door opened and a young woman poked her head out.

The woman looked to be in her twenties, wearing a simple dress with wide cuffs that covered her slender limbs.

Comb her hair together into a bun and secure it with a simple wooden hairpin.

The woman stared at Angers' unusual face with some vigilance. At this time, foreigners did not have a good reputation.

"Dare to ask..."

Angers interrupted the young woman's inquiry and said in a mechanical tone and not very standard Chinese dialect:

"Is this Mrs. Lu? I am Hilbert Jean Angers. I am here to see Mr. Lu Shanyan home."

Angers thought about this moment many times, but when the moment actually came, he could only pronounce the lines like a robot, without even a trace of expression on his face.

This may seem cold-blooded, but it will make Angers feel more comfortable.

The woman in front of him trembled and stared at the small box in front of Ange for a long time before taking the box and holding it tightly in her hands.

"I am the Lu family, please come in..."

Lu looked expressionless, as if he had no feelings about her husband's death. He led Ander and the others to sit down in the main hall and saluted to several people.

"I have to do some housework, please wait here."

Lu went to the back of the house, and the four of them waited on the seats for a long time, but did not see Lu coming back. Ander was a little anxious.

A faint cry came from behind the house. Lu was not as calm as he seemed, but he just didn't show it in front of outsiders like them.

Ender couldn't help but stand up on the wooden chair and wanted to go to the backyard to find out what was going on, but Angers held on to the dragon with all his strength.

There was another period of unbearable silence. It was naturally impossible for Ander to chat with others in this atmosphere. The Chu family brothers and sisters may have been touched by the scene, and they were all in a low mood.

As for Angers, he was like a sculpture from the moment he sat on the chair, staring motionlessly at the beam above, as if he wanted to see the flowers on the wood.

Mrs. Lu finally came back. She lowered her head and walked a little unsteadily. She sat down shakily on the main seat. After a while, she asked:

"My husband, he was fine before. What happened?"

Ander pushed Angers, who seemed to be in a daze, and asked him to quickly answer Mrs. Lu's question.

Angers finally came to his senses and began to tell the story that he didn't want to remember at all.

The "Lizard Bone" from China, the awakened Dragon King, the bloody Lu Shanyan, and Kassel who used Rhine and died with the Dragon King.

This story is very absurd. The Dragon King was revived due to improper operation by an ordinary doctor.

This story is great. In order to kill the dragon king, the hybrids of the secret party sacrificed their lives like moths to the flame.

Angers had actually been thinking about the scene at that time. Just like Ander said, the secret party was self-inflicted. It was an imperfect system and a group of people who only knew how to fight, which ultimately led to serious consequences.

In Angers' narration, the story ends with Meineke Cassel's voice: Rhine, while Lu on the side raised his own question:

"Then why are you okay?"

Angers' current state is indeed not like that of a person who has been dying. What is more painful than the death of his own relatives is seeing his comrades who fought with him standing in front of you intact. At that time, you will only have one thought:

Why are you alive and not him!

Angers looked at Ander next to him and replied:

"I passed out after the explosion. It was Ander who saved me. He said that he was the overseas branch of the Lu family and was invited by Lu Shanyan to join the secret party. But when he arrived at Cassel Manor, he only saw ruins.

And I am just hanging on."

Mrs. Lu stared at young Ander for a long time before asking:

"May I ask which branch of the Lu family it is? It's in the family tree."

Ender immediately became energetic and replied:

"The one that went to Nanyang a hundred years ago, if we count it in terms of seniority, I am still Lu Boping's uncle."

Mrs. Lu took a deep breath, stood up and saluted Ander.

"Uncle escorted my husband's relics back to his hometown. It should be included in the family tree. Please come with me."

Ender saw something was wrong with Mrs. Lu, but he still followed her and walked toward the back of the house.

The Lu family's ancestral hall is not jointly owned by a village like many places, but a separate cabin filled with tablets of Lu family ancestors.

Mrs. Lu picked up three notes of incense and handed it to Ander, then lit the incense with a fire stick on the side and said:

"When the children of the Lu family return to the clan, they should pay tribute to their ancestors."

Ander didn't worry about this kind of thing. Whether he could obtain the godhead in the future would depend on the Lu family. He immediately bowed three times to the tablet and placed the incense on the incense burner.

Just as Ander was bowing, Mrs. Lu closed the door of the ancestral hall, took out a pistol from her skirt and pointed it at Ander.

"Mrs. Lu, can you still use a gun?"

Ender looked at Mrs. Lu who was pointing a gun at him, but Mrs. Lu obviously had no intention of talking nonsense to him.

"The Lu family has been passed down from generation to generation and has no overseas branches at all."

Ender spread his hands and said:

"Why point a gun at me?"

"Since you are a good person, bad people would not do such a thing."

"Do good people have to be held at gunpoint? Mrs. Lu, let's talk."
