Chapter 215 The First Spiritual Sect

Miaoshan learned that the young military officer had come to the Taoist Temple of Queen Mother Chi. He knew that he had let down his teacher and broke the rules of the Qinglu sect, so he took the initiative to ask his master to be imprisoned in the "wall stone cave" to cultivate himself and repent.

Ciyi had this intention and immediately agreed.

But less than half a month later, Miao Shan could not stop her feelings for the young officer because she had devoted herself to repenting, or she could not bear the gloom and loneliness in the cave, so she left a dictionary to the master and abandoned the Queen Mother of Snow Mountain.

Chi Tao watched and left.

Ciyi felt extremely sad, so she changed the name "Bishi Cave" to "Shan Guoxuan" to commemorate Miao Shan, the disciple who entered the room.

In the following years, Ciyi never entertained the idea of recruiting disciples to pass on his career as a disciple.

In the late 1960s, the Snowy Mountain Queen Mother Pond, which can be called a paradise, was thought to be located in the southern border of Xinjiang, far away from the overwhelming hustle and bustle of the mainland, but in the end it could not escape the impact.

At the Taoist temple in Nuo Da, some Taoist priests returned to their place of origin, and the remaining ones found other careers. During that period, it was sparsely populated, with only Ciyi and a young female Taoist staying at the temple.

Ciyi had not paid much attention to this young woman in the past. Seeing that although she was not outstanding in appearance, she had a deep understanding of Taoism and was capable of enduring hardships. Ciyi relied on her for her food and daily life, treating her like her own parents.

However, the young female Taoist has a strong temperament. If there are outsiders at the bottom of the mountain who come to disturb them, they will move forward and drive them away.

It was not until the Taoist temple resumed its former glory and feast that it was crowded with visitors and many Taoist priests came to pay their respects. After many years of observing the young female Taoist priest, Ciyi saw that she had no evil thoughts and remained as before, so one day she called him to come to the temple.

, asked her if she would like to become a disciple.

The young female Taoist immediately wept and knelt down and worshiped. This was Ciyi's second disciple. She performed a crown-turban apprenticeship ceremony for her and gave her the Taoist name Miaoyu.

Under Ciyi's careful instruction, Miaoyu practiced Yi Gong Taoism, and also learned music, chess, calligraphy, painting, medicine, martial arts, and divination. After she had served her master for several years, a female Taoist priest from Taisu Shangqing Palace in Qiyun Mountain wandered to the snowy mountains.

Queen Muchi was Ciyi's younger junior sister at that time. She was several dozen years older than Ciyi. Her Taoist name was Jingchen.

Jingchendao stayed for several days, with Miaoyu accompanying him every day.

She met Miaoyu, and after some discussion of scriptures and Taoism, she knew that she had obtained the true biography of Ciyi, so she was very reluctant to part with her. She sighed to Ciyi, Taisu Shangqing Palace was missing Xiang Miao

Abbot Yu, who was full of Confucian classics, begged his senior sister to give up her love and sent Miaoyu to Qiyun Mountain to teach and preach.

Ciyi asked Miaoyu for permission and happily agreed with Taoist Master Jingchen.

After Miao Yulin left the Snow Mountain Queen Mother Pond, Ciyi found rare green velvet from the secret room, sewed a Taoist canopy with gold trim and gave it to Miao Yu as a souvenir.

This green velvet and gold-edged dome became a legend after it was made. It can emit colorful colors when exposed to different lights. When it is draped on the body, it is radiant, just like an immortal descending to earth. The wonderful jade has been regarded as a treasure since then.

Miaoyu became the abbot of the Taisu Shangqing Palace. She often traveled to Jiuhua Mountain, a Buddhist holy land a hundred miles away, to polish scriptures with eminent monks and discuss the skills of self-cultivation and rebirth. They often had a lot of fun. But later, she met

A great monk named Huiyun often got into quarrels over the competition between Buddhism and Taoism.

Originally, Miaoyu was indoctrinated by Master Ciyi and believed that Buddhism and Taoism have many similarities. Buddhism talks about "emptiness" and Taoism talks about "nothing". They both seek purification beyond the world, salvation of the soul, and the ultimate return to destiny.

There is no contradiction, it's just that each has its own magical powers.

However, Monk Huiyun repeatedly refuted Miaoyu, saying that "emptiness" and "nothingness" are actually intrinsically different. Buddhism has never disdained the existence of spirits and souls in the world, and only believes that there are causes and effects.

"Master, don't you know that Zhuangzi said that people in the world are born with vitality, innately enlightened, and have no coming and going. After death, there is a breeze, only the soul remains!" Miaoyu's temper became fierce, and she angrily and unceremoniously said to Monk Huiyun.

question.

"The poor monk only knows that there is Zen enlightenment in the Lotus Sutra. People in the world go through life and death, like a wheel spinning, and the cycle is endless. Therefore, it is said that 'reincarnation' has cause and effect. Don't the Taoist priests not know that cause and effect can be seen everywhere, and spring planting and autumn harvest are cause and effect.

So all the monks in the world eat vegetarian food because they believe in cause and effect!" Huiyun retorted and did not give in.

"So it turns out that Master's daily vegetarian diet is due to the cycle of cause and effect of spring planting and autumn harvest? What nonsense!" Miaoyu sneered.

"The Taoist priest is also a vegetarian, why do you just accept the poor monk with a smile?" Huiyun was angry.

"We Quanzhen Taoists are vegetarians because we have always valued the art of breathing and exhalation. We are worried that eating meat will produce turbid qi in the body and affect the Qi meridians, so we only eat vegetarian food." Miaoyu said with a smile, "But Buddhism is because we cannot kill animals, so

The great monk has no meat to eat, so he has to eat vegetarian food."

"Since everyone is vegetarian, I persuade the Taoist Priest to shave off three thousand hairs on his head and become a hairless Taoist nun!" Huiyun also smiled and said sarcastically, "Isn't this what the Taoist Priest said before?

There are many similar theories in Buddhism and Taoism.”

Miaoyu was so angry that she was speechless. She shook off a whisk and walked away without eating the lunch meal she had prepared.

In Huiyun's temple, a long time ago there was a monk named Jijie, whose common name was Huichangyuan, who was a native of Linhuai County, Huaishang City.

Because Huichang Yuan had stains before his ordination, he first seduced a girl when he was a Chinese teacher in a primary school. Fortunately, a relative named Qiu who was an important official in the county dealt with it, so there was no problem.

condemn.

Huichang Yuan's relative was Qiu Mingqing, who was the main leader of Linhuai County at the time and was later transferred to Enyuan Group as the leader of the disciplinary supervision team.

But later on, Huichang's poor quality of aid was hard to change, but because his affair with the dean's wife was exposed, he was afraid of being retaliated by his family, so he simply went to Jiuhua Mountain to become a monk to avoid trouble.

Huichang Yuan had a distant aunt who was cultivating Taoism in Taisu Shangqing Palace in Qiyun Mountain. She was Ciyi's junior sister, Taoist Master Jingchen, and it was through her connections that she entered Buddhism.

Jingchen once heard what some villagers from Huaishang City said during a visit that Huichang Yuanduo had bad conduct and was constantly criticized from all quarters. However, he could not bear his pleading and insisted on becoming a monk, so he had to go to Huiyun in person.

I prayed to the temple where I was located to find a place for my distant nephew to stay and take refuge.

The quarrel between Huiyun and Miaoyu happened later. Before, the relationship between him and Jingchen was considered friendly.

Unable to stand up to Jingchen, and seeing Huichang Yuan's thick eyebrows and clear teeth, he expected that he would do something great in the future, so the great monk Huiyun accepted Huichang Yuan and stayed in the temple.

After listening to Jingchen's sincere introduction to Huichang Yuan's past, Huiyun only hoped that he would change his ways, become enlightened, and remember the monastery's clear rules and precepts, so he gave Huichang Yuan the monk title "Jie Jie".

In the early years, Huichang Yuan was relatively well-behaved and honest.

He has a very strong memory and almost has a photographic memory. He often comes first in monk chanting competitions held on Jiuhua Mountain. He has also represented many monasteries in Jiuhua Mountain and went to Henan Shaolin Temple to participate in a series of Buddhist culture competitions, and has won many prizes.

And was left to practice martial arts for one year.

He is good-looking, capable of literature and martial arts, smart and eloquent, and is well-read in hundreds of schools of thought. This is what Huiyun said about Monk Ji Jie. He feels that his image as a monk is even more glorious because he has accepted this outstanding disciple, Ji Jie.

However, as time went by, Huichangyuan thought he was doing good work in the temple and became less and less responsible. First, he was found to often spend time among the nuns, constantly doing frivolous things, and then he was seen sneaking around in the tourist area.

In restaurants, people who drink meat or wine often have red faces and are drunk.

Huiyun saw Ji Dejie relying on his own cleverness to act recklessly day by day, and gradually grew disgusted with him.

That day, Huiyun and Miaoyu had a dispute and returned to the temple in a irritable mood. Passing by the kitchen, they smelled an evil smell and there was noise inside. When they went into the kitchen, they found out that it was Ji Jie who had brought a group of young monks.

, thinking that he must be eating somewhere else at noon that day, so he cooked a pot of dog meat.

Huiyun became furious and hit anyone with his rolling stick, frightening all the monks and fleeing in all directions.

Thinking about why he can only eat vegetarian food and not meat because he is a monk? I was humiliated by Miaoyu just now, and now there are monks in my temple who eat meat. I feel that it is because of observing the precepts that I have led a group of disciples to evil.

.

In his heart, he was also resentful towards the female Taoist Priest Jingchen who introduced Ji Jie to the temple. He thought that Taoist Priest Jingchen was not a good person at first and had deliberately played a trick on Hui Changyuan.

Lai's disciples came to make him angry.

However, this matter is not over yet.

Soon after, a mountain goods merchant came to the temple to question him. It turned out that the monk Ji Jie had been having a long-term relationship with his boss's wife, so he came to complain to Huiyun.

Huiyun saw that Ji Ji was a vicious monk who refused to change his precepts and repeatedly seduced married women. He was a completely filthy monk, so he resolutely refused to tolerate him. He immediately expelled Huichang Yuan from the temple and kicked him out of the temple.

Huichangyuan worked as a woodcutter and bamboo craftsman in the Jiuhua Mountain area, and also planted tea trees for mountain farmers. After wandering for many days, he went to find his distant aunt, Taoist Priest Jingchen of Taisu Shangqing Palace in Qiyun Mountain.

Jingchen had already heard the news from Jiuhua Mountain, and had heard about Huichang Yuan's various irregularities. Therefore, his distant nephew was quite hesitant, so he went to Miaoyu to discuss what to do.

Firstly, Miaoyu was grateful to Jingchen for recommending her to her master, so she came to Qiyun Mountain to become the abbot of Taisu Shangqing Palace. Secondly, because she and Huiyun had a long-standing grudge, she felt dissatisfied, and concluded that the monk had always been trying to gain fame, and she was unwilling to accept it.

If you have a narrow mind, you will definitely be an incompetent disciple.

So she knew that Hui Changyuan had violated the rules and was expelled from Huiyun, but she still wanted to take him in to show him.

However, Miaoyu was still wary of Huichang Yuan after all, so she only allowed him to be the gatekeeper of the palace for the time being, and was not allowed to enter the main hall or the backyard. She also did not enroll him in Taoism, and waited to see what the consequences would be.

Qiyun Mountain is one of the four famous mountains along with Qingcheng Mountain in Sichuan, Wudang Mountain in Hubei, and Longhu Mountain in Jiangxi. It is also adjacent to the surrounding Huangshan Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain, and the other three mountains. It is known as being deep, dangerous, and unfathomable.

, was praised by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty as "an unparalleled scenic spot in the world and the first mountain in the south of the Yangtze River".
