219 [Admission candidates are all based on preference]

When the sun goes down, two candles are given. When the candles are burned out, people leave.

There were probably more than 2,000 Shuntian Prefecture candidates who were forked out by the sergeants. The people inside and outside the Gongyuan were crying and screaming, as if countless people had collectively died.

"Brother Kehong, you have always been very knowledgeable, but do you know the origin of that embarrassing question?" asked a candidate.

Zhuozhou candidate Shi Dao said with a smile: "It comes from Mencius."

As soon as he said this, the candidates around him gathered around him and asked Shi Dao for advice.

Shi Dao explained: "The word '蛬' is inherently unfamiliar. As long as you are familiar with Mencius, how can you forget it? The original text is "Mencius·Teng Wengong": More than half of the people eat real food!"

Everyone suddenly realized it and recalled it one after another. Then they beat their hands and stamped their feet, only hating themselves for forgetting.

The original text is a conversation between Mencius and Kuang Zhang, saying that Chen Zhongzi was an honest man. He came from a noble family in the state of Qi, and his brother's salary was worth a million yuan. However, he thought that his brother's salary was ill-gotten wealth, so he moved to another place.

I lived there. Once I didn't eat or drink for three days. When I saw a plum that was half eaten by scarab beetle larvae, I crawled over and swallowed the plum.

This relates to the history of the Warring States Period. Qi State bullied weak princes everywhere, so Chen Zhongzi believed that his brother's salary was ill-gotten gains.

The whole passage has two meanings: one is to discuss integrity, and the other is to discuss human ethics.

Zhu Xi's annotation started from human relations and believed that Chen Zhongzi had no king and no father. Mencius also had this idea, and the core was to attack Mohism. As long as the examinee uses human relations to answer the question, it can be regarded as the standard answer, and the score depends on how well he performs.

As the examiner, Wang Yuan hopes that candidates will discuss integrity.

Some candidates are already yelling at each other, because whether they are cut-and-answer questions or so-called embarrassing questions, they all fall into the category of "small questions." These are irregular questions that usually only appear in the Taoist and annual exams, and are not included in the provincial and national examinations at all.

Impossible to use.

But what's the use of scolding?

The court doesn’t have strict regulations!

And when it was time to hand in the paper, 60% of the candidates answered it correctly, and the remaining 40% were simply not good at reading.

Just like what Shi Dao said, "诬" is a rare word. As long as you are familiar with "Mencius", you will be deeply impressed. Those who cannot remember it probably have not really mastered "Mencius". When Zhu Xi made annotations, he specifically gave

You don’t even read Zhu Xi’s annotations carefully about the phonetic notation and explanation of the word “诬”?

It’s really not a matter of picking out words or studying hard, it’s purely a test of the mastery of “Mencius”. This story is quite interesting. Even if you read “Mencius” as a story book, you can still write it down very clearly.

The more than 2,000 candidates who are unable to write probably only read the reference materials and scanned the original texts of the Four Books!

"Scholar Wang, these are the answer sheets recommended by each room today." Wu Yipeng came over with a stack of test papers.

You can think of the provincial examination as an essay contest, with the same examiner as the primary selection, Wu Yipeng as the secondary selection, and Wang Yuan ultimately judging the ranking.

There were about thirty answer sheets, and Wang Yuan paid more attention to what he said. Those articles with gorgeous rhetoric but no own thoughts were directly thrown to the end by Wang Yuan, who made him the examiner!

It is a pity that even the mature and unpretentious articles mostly just write Zhu Xi's arguments, and it is difficult to see any novel development. Even if innovation is difficult, it should at least be spread out, and it cannot be limited to the chapter where the title is located.

I need you to do "Chinese to Chinese" translation?

Wang Yuan is worthy of being a student of Wang Yangming. The grading comments he gave were exactly the same as those of his teacher.

"This article is not very brilliant, but it is plain and detailed."

"This article is mature and simple, with a thorough understanding of benevolence and righteousness, and it is hit the mark."

"This article is mediocre and rarely has clear explanations. It's average."

Wang Yuan also discovered that his student came from the school of physics from the question "Studying things to achieve knowledge"!

"That's all?" Wang Yuan said disappointedly.

Wu Yipeng said: "There are still some papers that are still being reviewed."

After more than half a day, Wang Yuan got Shi Dao's paper. When he got to the embarrassing question, he immediately slapped the desk and said with a smile: "This should be the first in this provincial examination!"

Although Shi Dao also starts with the theme "No king, no father", it focuses on the way of "incorruption".

Moreover, it uses the words of Mencius to discuss Boyi, Yi Yin, Liu Xiahui and Confucius, and then compares the integrity of Boyi and Chen Zhongzi. This leads to the conclusion that although Boyi's nobility is narrow, it can inspire cowards to aspire; Chen Zhongzi is more narrow-minded than Boyi

, is of no use at all! Only taking responsibility like Yi Yin and advancing with the times like Confucius is the correct way to open up purity and integrity.

Since Chen Zhongzi feels that his brother's salary is ill-gotten gains, he should take responsibility and use his own efforts to change the status quo and make Qi a country of benevolence and righteousness. Even if it is impossible to do it, he should work hard to do it instead of

Run away from home and starve yourself to death.

Shi Dao concluded his topic by saying that a gentleman should pursue integrity when standing in the world. But he should not forget his responsibilities for the sake of integrity and become a person who is only incorruptible but useless. Such integrity is of no use to the country.

Being unfaithful and not repaying one's relatives is considered unfilial (this paragraph is meant to round out the meaning of "no king, no father", otherwise it would fall outside the scope of Zhu Xi's annotation).

What kind of talents does Wang Yuan want to choose?

Of course he is someone who knows how to do things and is willing to do them!

Now I finally found one, and I have to make it into a solution.

It's a pity that there is only one exam so far.

After Wang Yuan finished marking all the test papers, he still felt unsatisfied, so he personally went to each room to look for the failed test papers.

This procedure is called "paper searching", and its purpose is to prevent brain drain. In fact, it is to restrict the power of the deputy chief examiner and fellow examiners. Otherwise, the deputy chief examiner and fellow examiners will arbitrarily change the papers, and the chief examiner will only see them handing them over.

Coming up.

By the middle of the Ming Dynasty, some deputy examiners and co-examiners also broke the rules and went to "search papers". They claimed to be helping the court discover legacy talents, but they actually wanted to cheat the candidates by looking for papers with agreed keywords to admit them.

Wang Yuan flipped through more than a thousand failed test papers, passing most of them, and only read carefully when he came across the ones he liked.

As he looked at it, Wang Yuan had a strange expression, and he found a strange paper.

The owner of this paper must be Wang Yuan's student, because many of the contents are Wang Yuan's theories. Moreover, this person is not as euphemistic as another disciple Wang Xuan, who directly explains Wang Yuan's theories and also puts them into words.

Such fallacies and heresies are written with great literary talent.

Recorded!

Wang Yuan searched the papers and found a total of four papers, not all of which were from his own students. Three of them answered the questions seriously, but it was a pity that they were not liked by the examiners.

Wang Yuan didn't know yet, but the student he found was actually Zhao Jin, Prince Shaobao and Minister of War of the Jiajing Dynasty in history.

This guy started his career as a troll, and helped Jiajing to bully many important officials. His true ability and character are still questionable. But after being slapped by Wang Yuan's butterfly wings, Zhao Jin has now become Wang Yuan's student, and he is very interested in physics.

If you believe it deeply, it is possible to transform from a troll into a doer.

Wang Yuan admitted a lot of trolls this time, one of them was Zheng Zibi, and he wrote impassioned articles. This guy had a history of following Yang Shen, and was spanked during the ceremony. Later, he trolled whoever he caught after being promoted. His trolls were infuriated by both humans and gods.

, he himself was in the military department and was one of the big guys in Yanguan, but he was collectively impeached by the Yanguan of the military department and was thrown to Jiangyin to be the county magistrate.

Wang Yuan admitted Zheng Zibi for no other reason than that he thought his articles were passionate.

There are quite a lot of monsters and ghosts out there, so take your time to train them.
