102. Home

The two of them waited silently next to Sam who was lying down. The sound of heavy rain outside was crackling, and the rain and fog gradually thickened, surrounding the entire car.

From time to time, the forest outside could hear the rustling sounds of animals passing through the plants. This sound was mixed with the downpour, and it fit perfectly with the entire environment.

After waiting for about half an hour, Sam seemed to gradually start to move. His breathing became obvious, and his chest rose and fell slowly.

"Sam!"

Gu Zhuo saw that Sam seemed to have recovered a little, and then he shouted in surprise.

Hearing Gu Zhuo call his name, Sam opened his eyes through a slit and looked at Gu Zhuo through the slit. When he saw Gu Zhuo, Sam let out a weak "woof", seemingly in response to Gu Zhuo's call.

.

"Sam, it's okay, it's okay."

When Gu Zhuo heard Sam's response to him, he seemed to have recovered a little. He hurriedly stroked Sam's head with his hand, comforting him over and over again:

"Everything is fine. You are fine. I promised that nothing would happen to you."

Seeing that Sam was fine, Gu Zhuo quickly picked him up from the ground.

After all, Sam was a big dog and weighed a lot. Gu Zhuo was mentally prepared before picking him up from the ground. After picking him up, Gu Zhuo put him in his own nest.

Sam, who was lying in the nest, let out another "bark", and this time he seemed to be in a better state than before.

After pouring some water for Sam and placing it next to him where he could lick it with his tongue, Gu Zhuo felt relieved.

The two sat down next to Sam. Gu Zhuo's eyes never left Sam, staring at it closely, afraid of what might happen to it.

Fortunately, there have been no other abnormalities since Sam woke up, but he has been acting very weak.

Chaoying patted the back of his hand a few times and comforted him:

"It's okay. Isn't Sam fine now?"

Gu Zhuo nodded and breathed a sigh of relief:

"Fortunately, nothing happened to Sam. What if something happened to him? He would be riding a horse..."

Thinking of this, Gu Zhuo still had lingering fears.

He guessed that animals may be undergoing a new round of mutation like humans. But judging from Sam's situation, like humans, not all animals are mutating, and it seems to be selective.

But what is the source of all this?

No one told Gu Zhuo the answer, and no one seemed to know the answer.

The two of them sat there, the sound of the rainstorm outside still roaring, and the whole world seemed to become empty at this time.

The rust-colored dark red sky, the sound of crackling rain, and the howling wind blowing against the car body made the car window glass rattling. It was like countless evil spirits howling in the wind, violently beating the car window.

And the fortress of doomsday stands erect in the torrential rain, regardless of the wind and rain.

Sam licked some water from the bowl next to him, gasped for air, pushed himself up, and then changed his position and lay down in the nest again. He turned his head to Gu Zhuo's position and cried out "Woo".

Gu Zhuo understood what it meant, and stretched out his hand to put it on top of its head, stroking it gently.

The temperature of Sam's body has returned to normal, unlike just now, which was shockingly hot.

Seeing this scene and listening to the pounding rain outside, the entire Doomsday Fortress gives people a safe and secure feeling. It seems that no matter what kind of disaster is outside, the inside is the warmest haven.

Chaoying couldn't help but said to Gu Zhuo:

"Gu Zhuo, it really feels like home here."

Hearing this, Gu Zhuo looked at her and couldn't help laughing:

"Really, that's great. It would be better if there weren't those damn monsters and the capricious weather."

Chao Ying lowered his head and stopped talking. There was a moment of silence between the two.

Gu Zhuo touched Sam's head silently, and couldn't help but sigh in his heart:

There is indeed a feeling of home here, which is warmer than the empty house where I lived alone before the end of the world.

"Gu Zhuo, what if one day, I mean if, I do something to hurt you, what will you do?"

Chaoying asked him suddenly and abruptly.

Hearing Chaoying's strange question, Gu Zhuo wondered:

"You would hurt me? How is that possible? I know who you are and there is no way you could hurt me. If you could hurt me, we would have been plotted by you long ago after we have lived together for so long."

Hearing that Gu Zhuo believed in him so much, Chaoying felt warm in his heart.

When they first met, she was worried about Gu Zhuo's personality, thinking that he only saved her because he wanted to occupy her. But after getting along for such a long time, she could see that Gu Zhuo was a very good person and worthy of relying on.

"Why would you ask such a strange question?"

Gu Zhuo asked her.

Chaoying shook his head:

"It's nothing. It's just that when we entered Yangzhong, I suddenly became so uncomfortable and painful. I always felt that this matter was not that simple."

"What's the meaning?"

"I have never been in this situation before, let alone suddenly fell into a sense of suffocation. And I was the only one affected. I feel that there must be something fishy behind this, and there is some big conspiracy that we don't know about.

indefinite."

Seeing Chaoying's serious and heavy expression when she said this, Gu Zhuo knew that she was not joking and was really worried about this matter.

He sighed, tried to appear relaxed, patted Chaoying on the shoulder like a brother, and said:

"Young man, don't worry. No matter what conspiracy is behind it, I will definitely not let anyone hurt you. Again, I believe you will not hurt me!"

Hearing this, Chao Ying nodded heavily.

Fortunately, the person he met in the apocalypse was Gu Zhuo and not someone else. If he had met someone like Liu Yihu or Zhao Shifang, he would have died long ago.

Gu Zhuo saw that Sam's condition was much better and Chaoying looked a little tired, so he continued:

"You stay here and take care of Sam. I'll go to the cab to guard him so that if anything unexpected happens, I can respond as soon as possible."

Gu Zhuo gave Sam a final pat on the head and walked towards the cab.

Walking to the cab, he sat down on his seat and looked at the images from various surveillance cameras on the screen. The surroundings were pitch black, trees and grass were swaying in the wind and rain, and many shrubs were wilted.

Gu Zhuo took a sip of water and saw nothing unusual around him.

The place where the group of mutant wolves just left was now dark and there were no signs of any living creatures, but it was not ruled out that there was something hiding inside.

Gu Zhuo turned on the thermal imaging display. The thermal imaging display was quiet and there was nothing.

"This rain will probably last for seventeen hours. If it rains for seventeen hours, there will be floods!"

Gu Zhuo couldn't help complaining in his heart.

Fortunately, his doomsday fortress is amphibious, so even if there is a flood, he won't be afraid, but it will be a bit troublesome.

Just as he was sitting on the backrest of the driver's seat, thinking about his plan after the rain stopped, he suddenly heard the shrill wails of wolves not far away.

The wailing was very loud, and amid the sound of rain, it seemed so sad and desolate.

Along with the shrill wails of the wolves, he also heard some different sounds.

This sound mixed with the howls of the wolves, Gu Zhuo's body jerked:

It's a bear!
