38. The Fragmented Camp

Gu Zhuo slept all afternoon and all night.

When he woke up, it was already the morning after the Doomsday Fortress was successfully upgraded.

After sleeping for such a long time, he made up for all the pain from the previous few days, and Gu Zhuo felt much better.

He wanted to stretch his body, but when he was halfway through, he saw Chaoying and Sam sitting next to him. The two were waiting beside him and fell asleep unconsciously.

"Chaoying, Chaoying..."

Gu Zhuo put his hand on Chao Ying and gently woke her up.

After waking up Chaoying, the two of them washed up in the car. Chaoying made a sumptuous lunch to reward the two of them for their fatigue in the past few days.

When Gu Zhuo ate these hot meals, it felt like he was living a different life. Thinking about his experiences in the past few days, he now felt that he was living a down-to-earth life.

After finishing the meal, they packed up the dishes and went to load the supplies left down yesterday into the car. The two of them made some preparations and decided to leave for Akashi's camp now.

Gu Zhuo controlled the two mechanical arms of the Doomsday Fortress, moved away the remaining steel at the factory gate, cleared a path, and drove the Doomsday Fortress out of the factory.

Driving from the steel factory to Akashi's base, it took half a day last time because he had to take care of the other four workers who were following him. This time, there was only one car on the road, Gu Zhuo's Doomsday Fortress, so he wanted to take how long it would take to get there.

Akashi's base determines how fast it can be used.

Gu Zhuo speeded up the car. He wanted to arrive at Akashi's base as early as possible. After all, the later he arrived, the more accidents might happen.

The originally half-day drive took only half an hour this time.

Along the way, the closer he got to Akashi's base, Gu Zhuoyue had a bad feeling.

Finally, when he was about to arrive at the gate of the High-tech Industrial Park, what Gu Zhuo didn't want to see happened after all.

At the entrance of the High-tech Industrial Park, in addition to the gap caused by Gu Zhuo's raid that day, there were actually many more corpses lying strewn about.

The first time he saw these corpses, Gu Zhuo was sure that they were not the corpses caused by his attack that day.

These corpses were mutilated and broken into pieces, as if they had been devoured by some wild beast. There were many pieces of meat on them, as if they had been eaten by vultures. It is hard to imagine what kind of attack this would be.

.

In addition to the tragic appearance of these corpses, there is one more thing that makes Gu Zhuo sure that this is what those monsters did:

Next to the body, there was a large area of black, dried, viscous liquid.

If Gu Zhuo and the others had been a little less lucky that day, they might have ended up with the same fate as the corpses on the ground!

"Do you think there will be any survivors here?"

Seeing this scene, Chaoying couldn't help but ask Gu Zhuo in a low voice. It could be heard from her tone that she no longer had any hope for this place.

Slow down the car and slowly drive the Doomsday Fortress into the industrial park. I saw that the industrial park, which was already a dilapidated area, now looked extremely depressed, as if it was a ruin that had not been repaired for a long time after the war.

There are bullet holes everywhere on the wall, as well as various deep claw marks. The claw marks scratched on the wall are shocking. Even a strong tiger beast cannot make such a scratch.

Similarly, in this devastated ruins, there are broken corpses everywhere. The ground is black and red. It is obvious that the black blood of monsters and the red blood of humans are mixed together and have dried up.

Gu Zhuo drove slowly to the building where a large number of survivors had gathered. There were the most corpses in front of that building, and they were all spread out into a carpet of corpses.

"Beep, beep, beep..."

Gu Zhuo pressed the horn.

The sound of the trumpet seemed extremely loud and harsh in the quiet open space.

After several horn blasts, there was no movement. The building was dark and there was no commotion.

The two waited for a while, but received nothing.

"Aren't they all dead?"

Although Gu Zhuo had doubts in his heart, he never asked them out.

"Otherwise, try honking the horn again. Maybe these survivors will hear it and just don't dare to come out."

Chaoying suggested.

Hearing this, Gu Zhuo honked the car horn again. While honking the car horn, he shouted out through the loudspeaker on the Doomsday Fortress:

"Remaining survivors, if you hear sounds, please come out and contact me as soon as possible!"

This time, after the sound came out, there was a real reaction.

From a small closed shed in front of the building in front of the Doomsday Fortress, the door of the shed was pushed open, and then, a man silently walked towards Gu Zhuo's Doomsday Fortress.

Gu Zhuo looked at the approaching man, and it took a few seconds to recognize him. He turned out to be Akashi!

Only a few days had passed, and Akashi felt that he had completely changed. He was unshaven, his face was full of vicissitudes, and his eyes were dim.

His left hand was empty, leaving only an empty sleeve, fluttering in the wind.

Akashi held a gun in his right hand and walked almost limping to Gu Zhuo's Doomsday Fortress.

"Is it Gu Zhuo!?"

Akashi walked to the front of the Doomsday Fortress and looked at the Doomsday Fortress that had changed drastically. He hesitated for a few seconds before asking loudly.

"It's me! Why did the survivor base become like this? Is it because of those monsters?"

Gu Zhuo asked him straight to the point, what happened to the original survivor base and what happened to him just after escaping from Liu Yihu's clutches.

The tragic experience of this group of survivors is something no one can bear to see.

"..."

Akashi was silent for a while, then sighed and replied:

"Yes, you have encountered those monsters too!"

"The four workers you asked to follow have all changed! We fought hard with them before we got rid of them. I don't know what the situation is like on your side!"

Hearing this, Akashi suggested:

"Gu Zhuo, I can't tell you at the moment. Do you want to come down and talk to me in detail?"

Gu Zhuo thought for a while.

He didn't know if Akashi's personality and thoughts had changed along with his appearance. After all, sometimes sudden disasters could completely reshape a person's personality unprepared.

What if Akashi changes his mind and wants the supplies and weapons in his car?

In the end, Gu Zhuo rejected the proposal:

"Let's talk about it like this first. You also know how much damage those monsters have caused to people before. We can't accept any accidents!"

Hearing this, Akashi smiled bitterly, with an ugly expression on his face:

"It seems like you really don't know how heavy our losses have been."

After he finished speaking, he shouted in the direction of the small shed from which he came out:

"The rest of the people, please come out. They have no ill intentions and will not harm us!"

After Akashi shouted, some people came out of the small shed one after another, about a dozen or so.

The dozen or so people were all young people, but like Akashi, they all looked very tired and seemed to have been tortured for a long time.

They walked up to Akashi and looked at Gu Zhuo's Doomsday Fortress with empty eyes. Even though the Doomsday Fortress was so majestic and full of technology at the moment, it could not arouse the slightest emotion in them.

"Do you still think we can pose a threat to you?"

Akashi asked sadly.

"This is all that's left of us. Everyone else is either dead or turned into monsters."
