908. The first meeting with Langton is hard to say
In the evening, Qin Jian, accompanied by Duan Ran, listened to Norman's student quartet concert.
The works in the first half consisted of two Beethoven works, while the second half included some works from the Romantic period and a new work performed by Yunoma himself and his students in the encore.
Compared to the Gamma Piano Ensemble, the number of people who came to see this concert can be described as very few.
So after the whole concert, the response from the audience was just a few occasional applause.
However, this also allowed Qin Jian to enjoy a concert in a quiet and comfortable environment.
Putting aside the second half, I will only talk about Beethoven's works in the first half.
Fortunately, he did some research on tonight's concert before the concert.
As a listener who is not expert enough in string music.
Judging from the pitch and timbre played by each part and the physical training of the performers, these are undoubtedly two Beethoven works that meet the needs of the modern stage.
Especially in the first movement of Op. 135 F major quartet, the fragmented melody line is played by four student musicians with flowing serial bowing techniques, giving people an extremely cheerful feeling.
At the end, after the most exquisite golden and silver filigree sound, a frighteningly strong ending sound penetrates the entire work.
Listening to the whole piece, no phrase in the entire work shows what it should have looked like before 1800.
This is also in line with the characteristics of Beethoven's late writing quartets.
Therefore, without Langton's previous personal remarks, Qin Jian would have labeled this piece "This is what Beethoven's works should be like."
But now he is hesitant.
But that's fine, at least it gave him a starting point to continue exploring.
He could try to analyze it from Langton's point of view - why the performance of this piece cannot be performed in pure Beethoven's coat.
After returning home after the concert, while Duan Ran continued to help him pack his luggage, he sat alone on the balcony wearing headphones and continued to study.
His approach is very simple, that is, listen to the world-recognized version and then look for differences.
So he listened to three versions of the first movement of op.135.
They come from the Bartok Quartet, the Weig Quartet, and a relatively old Bush Quartet.
But after listening to the three versions of the recording, he could only say that his previous judgment in the concert hall was indeed a bit arbitrary.
Just the tacit understanding shown by the three ensembles in the music in the recording is enough to make people forget about the scene played by the Norman students tonight.
This is not to say that the professional level of the four students is not up to par, or their ability to fight alone. He believes that these four alumni are all good players.
It's just that a quartet doesn't just involve bringing four people together.
Take the performance of the Weig Quartet as an example.
As soon as the music started, when the first theme suddenly popped up in the headphones, Qin Jian felt as if the whole world had returned to the lightness and clarity of the Viennese style of the 18th century.
He does not need to carefully distinguish whether each phrase is in line with the spirit of the times.
The four of them are integrated into one.
All his attention was attracted by the continuous progress of the music. He did not think about whether this was Beethoven. He felt that he was listening to Beethoven.
This is somewhat similar to the feeling of Czerny playing in the sonata collection. As soon as the music comes out, the auditory nerve is completely stimulated.
Qin Jian also made a hypothesis.
If Norman's four musicians were replaced by four real master-level professional musicians, and they still rehearsed according to their musical ideas, would the result be any different?
This is just an unattainable hypothesis, and he doesn't know the result.
But one thing he was sure of was that the search for Beethoven and his party in Vienna would not go smoothly.
Of course, he doesn't expect everything to go smoothly.
Things that are readily available will never give people much sense of security.,
Just like he chose Langton instead of those students and grandchildren of Beethoven.
Looking across Europe, he can find disciples of Schnabel, "the legendary pianist known as the one who reshaped Beethoven's piano music," or descendants of Czerny's group.
It is conceivable that if Qin Jian communicates with these people about Beethoven, at least judging from the other person's name, he can get more "dry information" content
But the reason why Schnabel is Schnabel and not someone’s disciple is because the 32 sets of Beethoven’s piano sonatas he played are unique.
Qin Jian believed that no one had taught Schnabel how to play this unique set of music.
Because there is no other Schnabel in the world.
At the same time, Schnabel could no longer teach another "little Schnabel."
In the same way, there is no second Czerny.
Rather than saying that Beethoven created Czerny, it would be better to say that Czerny blazed a path of his own.
After Czerny wrote a large number of etudes that promoted the development of the piano career, when he went back and picked up Beethoven's scores again and re-edited the 32 piano sonatas -
Qin Jian can be sure that at that time Czerny was studying Beethoven as Czerny, rather than inheriting the teacher's mantle as a disciple.
In Qin Jian's view, Schnabel and Czerny have more in common than just being peerless experts in Beethoven's peerless piano works.
Two more important points are: first, they are all Austrians, born in the place where Beethoven made his fortune.
Secondly, they all relied on themselves to find an unusual path.
Therefore, Qin Jian came to Vienna alone, with the name of Chopin Champion, and planned to start from scratch, but unexpectedly he got a little fat man to accompany him at the beginning.
In this fantasy-filled journey, he chose another fat man.
Langton.
A bald, slovenly king who is not even an apprentice in the world of piano playing.
But who can predict whether Langton will become another milestone in the history of Vienna music a few years from now.
Just like when Wagner was young, everyone laughed at his music and no one was willing to rehearse and perform his works.
However, when Nietzsche also became a believer in Wagner's music, who can say that Wagner did not inherit the will of German music?
"Sooner or later time will give the answer."
A crisp "Husband" came from the living room, and Qin Jian recovered his thoughts, "What's wrong?"
"I finished cleaning up, it was very hard!"
"Thanks for your hard work!"
"Then are you hungry!?"
"I'm not hungry!"
"No, you are hungry! You want to eat rice noodles!"
So Qin Jian took off his headphones and consciously went to the kitchen.
...
Early the next morning.
The Vienna Steinway Company personally delivered the b211 that Qin Jian ordered yesterday to his door.
After all installation and debugging were completed, there were finally two pianos in the living room.
With the staff present, Qin Jian adjusted the positions of the two pianos.
The re-adjusted position allows for two people to play back to back.
