'Young Giant'

Once upon a time, a farmer gave birth to a son who was no longer as tall as his thumb. Many years passed, but his son did not grow up at all.

One day, his father was going to plow the fields, and the little guy said, "Dad, let me go too!"

His father said: "No, you should stay at home. It will not do you any good to go out. If you go, maybe I will lose you."

When Thumbs heard this, he immediately started crying. In order to calm him down, his father agreed to take him with him. He put the little guy in his pocket and went out.

When he arrived at the field, the farmer took his son out of his pocket and placed him on the new soil so that he could look around. After sitting with his thumb in the ground for a while, a giant crossed the hill and walked towards the field.

When the father saw it, he wanted to scare his son and tell him not to be naughty, so he said: "Have you seen that huge monster? Don't be naughty, he will take you away."

The giant had long legs and only took two or three steps to reach the end of the field. He reached out, picked up his thumb, put it on his palm, looked at him, and then took him away as if he were an old friend. The farmer stood beside him and was frightened.

Unable to say a word, he watched helplessly as the giant took his son away.

He thought his son was lost and he would never see him again.

The giant took Thumbs back to his own house in the forest, put him in his arms, and gave him whatever he ate. As a result, Thumbs was no longer a dwarf. He grew into a dwarf.

He became a strong and strong giant. Two years later, the old giant wanted to test his strength. He came to the woods with his thumb, pointed at a tree and said, "Pull out that birch tree and make it your own."

Use a walking stick."

The young man was very strong and he uprooted the tree. But the giant thought that the young man should be much stronger than this, so he fed him for more than two years before letting him go to the woods to try again.

This time he hugged the thickest oak tree and pulled it up. The situation was like playing a game to him.

The old giant said: "Yes! My little guy, you can do it now." So he took him back to the field where he was taken away.

When the young giant appeared in front of his father, who was plowing the fields, he said to his father: "Dad, come and see! See who I am! Do you see that I am your son?"

Looking at the tall giant, the farmer shouted in fright: "No, no! You are not my son, go away!"

"I am indeed your son. Let me help you plow for a while. I can plow as well as you."

"No, you go!" The farmer was really a little scared when he faced the tall giant. In the end, he had to let him plow the field and sat on the edge of the field.

The giant grabbed the plowshare with one hand and just pushed it into the ground. The plowshare drilled deeply into the soil.

The farmer shouted: "If you must plow, please don't use so much force. There is no benefit in plowing like this."

The son unloaded the horse that was pulling the plow and said, "Dad, go home and tell mom to prepare a good meal for me. I will plow all the land now." After saying that, he continued to pull the plow.

He didn't even want a horse, he just pushed the plowshare with his hands and continued plowing. After plowing the ground, he rake the ground loose again, finishing the work alone that would take others two mornings to finish.

Then, he carried all the farm tools such as the plowshare and rake, including the horse, and returned home like a bundle of wheat straw. After returning home, he sat on the bench and said, "Mom, is the food ready?"

Mom replied: "It's done."

She did not dare to neglect at all, and immediately brought two large bowls of food, enough to feed herself and her husband for eight days. But the giant son finished it quickly.

After finishing it, he said that he had only tasted it and asked if there was any more. My parents shook their heads helplessly.

Seeing that it was difficult for the family to provide food for a giant like him, he said: "Dad, let's see, if I don't have enough food to eat at home, you can find me an iron crutch that I can't break on my knees.

I want to go out and explore again."

The father was very happy after hearing this. He went to the stable and fetched two horses. He went to the blacksmith shop and bought an iron rod that was long and thick and required two horses to drag it. But the boy picked up the iron rod and put it on his knees.

With a knock, there was a "pop!" sound, and it broke immediately. The iron rod was like a bean pole in his hand.

"Dad, I know you can't find a cane that suits me," he said, "I'd better try my luck myself."

The young giant went out to make a living. He pretended to be a blacksmith and came to a village to find work. There was a blacksmith in this village who was a miser. He made a lot of money, and he kept all the money for himself.

The men who worked for him received almost no wages.

When the giant came to the village, he first walked into the blacksmith shop. He asked the blacksmith if he wanted a man who could forge iron. The cunning guy looked at him and thought how strong this man was. In order to earn a living, he had to work hard.

He must have worked very hard. So he replied: "Yes, but how much do you want?"

"I don't want wages, but every half month, when you pay wages to other workers, just let me pat you on the back twice and be happy."

The old blacksmith thought that he could not care less about the two blows he suffered and could save a lot of expenses, so he agreed wholeheartedly.

The next morning, the new boy started working. When the blacksmith gave him a red-hot iron billet, he smashed the iron billet into pieces in one blow, and even the anvil was deeply sunken.

It went underground and the blacksmith could not take it out anymore. This made the old blacksmith very angry and shouted: "Hey! I can't have you as a man. You are too clumsy. Our contract must be cancelled."

The giant replied: "Okay, but you have to give me some compensation. As long as I pat you gently, our agreement is over." After that, he gave the blacksmith a slap in the face, which hit him hard.

He flew up and flew over a pile of hay next to him. After beating him, he took the thickest iron bar in the iron shop as a cane, and left with a thump on the ground.

After walking for a while, he arrived at a farm. He went in and asked the farmer if he wanted a foreman. The owner and his wife were both misers. The owner said, "Yes." Then they agreed on the wages, which were with him.

The conditions mentioned in the blacksmith shop are exactly the same, and the time is once a year.

The next morning, all the workers were going to the woods to cut down trees. When they got up and prepared to set off, the giant was still sleeping on the bed. A worker shouted: "Get up quickly! When the time comes, you must come with us

Let’s set off together.”

"Just go ahead!" He said vaguely and sullenly, "I have to come back before you after finishing my work." After that, he lay on the bed and slept for another two hours before getting up.

After breakfast, he slowly harnessed his horse and went to the woods. There was a depression in front of the woods. He had to pass through this depression when entering and exiting the woods. After driving the car through it, he turned around and used branches and thorns there.

He made a big pile of firewood so that the horses could not pass through it. After finishing it, he was driving his carriage into the woods when he met the workers driving the carriage back. He shouted: "Go! I still know how to do it."

I went home before you."

After walking for a while, he turned around the carriage, pulled up the largest tree in the woods and put it on the carriage, turned around and hurried back to the road. When he came to the firewood pile, he found that all the workers were standing there.

After being able to get over, he said: "Look, if you stay with me, you can go back soon, and you can sleep an extra hour or two." As he said, he lifted the tree on one shoulder,

The other shoulder carried the carriage as if it were a feather, and he stepped over it easily.

Returning to the farmyard, he showed the tree to the owner and asked him if it was a good walking stick. The owner of the farm said to his wife with satisfaction: "Madam, this man is very capable, even though he sleeps

It took a long time, but he still did better than those people."

Time passed quickly, and the giant worked for the village owner for a whole year. When his companions got their wages, he said that he should also be paid. Only then did the village owner feel scared, and he thought

He came up with an idea and begged the giant to cancel the old covenant. He was willing to give him the entire farm and livestock.

But the giant said: "I don't want to do it. I won't be a farmer. I am a man. I want you to fulfill our contract."

Knowing that he would not agree to his conditions, the farmer begged him for two weeks' grace. He summoned all his friends and asked them how to deal with the matter. These friends discussed for a long time and finally thought that the simplest solution was

The method was to kill this annoying guy. Then they made a plan and agreed to let the giant move some large millstones into the yard and place them next to the wellhead in the yard. Then they asked him to go down into the well to clean it, and waited until he went down to the bottom.

Then he pushed the millstone down and hit him on the head.

Everything was arranged, and when the giant went down into the well, they rolled the stone down. The stone fell to the bottom of the well, and the water was splashed up high. They thought that the giant's head must also be smashed open, but unexpectedly, the giant's head must have been smashed open.

But his cry came out: "Drive away the chickens by the well, they dropped some sand on my head, and it almost fell into my eyes. I can hardly see clearly."

After scouring the well, he jumped out of the well and said, "Look here, what a beautiful scarf I have!" As he said this, he pointed to a millstone around his neck. It turned out that this

A millstone fell on his head and happened to be wrapped around his neck.

When the plan failed, the farmer begged the giant to give him another two weeks to think about it. He called his friends again to discuss, and finally they gave him an idea, asking him to send the giant to a night where ghosts often haunted him.

The mill was used to grind wheat. Because no one who spent the night in the mill survived until the next morning.

That day, it was already very late. The farmer asked the giant to take eight bushels of wheat to the mill and grind them into flour at night. He went to the attic and put two bushels of wheat into his right pocket, two bushels into his left pocket, and four bushels.

He put it in a long backpack and hung it on his shoulder, and then came to the mill. The miller told him to grind wheat during the day, not at night, because the mill was haunted, and anyone who went to the mill at night would be dead the next morning.

The giant said: "It doesn't matter, mill owner! I'll be fine. Just finish the work quickly. You can go and have a rest and come back to me tomorrow morning."

He walked into the mill, poured the wheat into the hopper and started grinding it. When it was close to twelve o'clock, he sat on a bench in the miller's house and wanted to rest. After sitting for a while, the door suddenly opened by itself, and a large

The table automatically moved into the house. The table was filled with wine, barbecue and many other delicious things. They seemed to have come there by themselves. Then the chairs automatically moved in and surrounded the table, but they were still nowhere to be seen.

When he saw a guest, he didn't see the servant come in. As if suddenly, he saw fingers holding a knife and fork and putting food on the plate, but he still couldn't see the person.

When the giant friend saw these things, he felt a little hungry. No matter whose food they belonged to, he sat on the stool and picked his favorite things to eat. When he was full,

Everything on the plate was empty. At this moment, he suddenly heard a sound of blowing out the light, and the house suddenly became dark. He felt a heavy blow on his head, and immediately said: "If the other side of me

If I get punched in the ear again, I'm going to start punching back."

When he received the second blow, he really started to fight back. This quarrel lasted all night. He was not afraid at all and kept fighting back in all directions, and even gained the upper hand in the fight.

At dawn, everything became quiet. The miller came to see him when he got up in the morning and found that he was still alive. He was very surprised. He said to the miller: "Good morning, miller! I had a very satisfying midnight snack in the evening."

, I received some slaps on the face, but I also slapped a lot in return.”

The miller was very happy that the giant helped him drive away the ghost and wanted to give him a lot of money, but he refused: "I don't want money, I am very satisfied now." After breakfast, he went back to his master to ask for wages.

Already.

This made the farm owner worried. He was as anxious as an ant on a hot pot, and no matter what strategy he knew, it was useless to him. He kept walking around the room, sweat rolling from his forehead.

After falling down, he walked over and opened the window and took in some fresh air. Before he could wake up, the giant came in and kicked him first. The kick sent him flying out of the window, all the way over the hills, and far away.

He went to a very far away place. Then he saw off the owner's wife in the same way. Maybe the two of them are still flying in the sky now.

After receiving his reward, the young giant took his iron crutch and left the farm.
