Grimm's Fairy Tales - The Brave Little Tailor

On a sunny morning in summer, a little tailor was sitting at the table by the window, doing her best to do her job. At this time, a peasant woman walked up the street and shouted as she walked: "Buy jam! Good quality and low price."

Yeah!" The little tailor thought the sound was pleasant, so he stuck his curly head out of the window and shouted:

"Come up here, dear madam, your goods are wanted!"

The peasant woman carried a heavy basket, climbed up the steps, came to the little tailor, and opened one jar after another according to his instructions. The little tailor looked carefully at each one, and also raised the jars to her nose and smelled again and again, and finally said

: "Four ounces, dear madam, or half a pound."

The peasant woman thought she had found a good buyer, so she weighed the little tailor's jam and left, mumbling angrily.

"By God," cried the little tailor, "these jams will give me a good appetite."

He took out the bread from the cabinet, cut a piece off, and spread jam on it. "I know it won't be delicious," he said, "but I have to finish making this vest first before eating it."

So, he put the jam-smeared bread next to him and continued to sew. He felt happy in his heart, and the stitches became larger and larger. At this time, the sweet smell of jam attracted a group of people gathered on the wall.

Flies, they all landed on the bread, wanting to taste this delicious food.

"What's your share?" the little tailor said and drove the flies away. The flies ignored what he said and refused to leave, so more and more flies landed on the bread. Now,

The little tailor was so angry that he grabbed a towel and hit the flies hard. He killed seven flies, and some of them even had their legs blown away.

"You are amazing!" he said, and couldn't help but praise his bravery. "Everyone in the city should know about your feat." After that, the little tailor cut a belt for himself in a hurry, and after sewing it,

Several eye-catching characters were embroidered on it: "Kill seven at once!" "Not just the whole city," he suddenly shouted, "but also let the whole world know!" At this point, he

My heart was jumping with excitement, just like a little lamb's tail.

The little tailor tied his belt around his waist and planned to go out into the world, because in his opinion, with his brave and fearless spirit, he would be overqualified for use in a small workshop. Before leaving, he searched around.

He looked to see if there was anything worth bringing, but he only found a piece of aged cheese, which he put in his pocket. In front of the door, he found a small bird caught in the bushes, so he caught it and put it in the cheese bag.

in pocket.

Then, he walked on the road triumphantly. Because of his short stature, he was as light as a swallow and did not feel tired at all when walking. As he walked, he came to a big mountain. When he reached the top of the mountain, he saw a man of great strength.

The giant was sitting there, looking around leisurely. The little tailor bravely walked up to the giant and said hello to him:

"Hello, buddy. You're sitting here looking out at the big world, right? I'm about to go out into the world. What do you think? Do you want to come with me?"

The giant glanced at him contemptuously and said to him in a loud voice: "You little wretch! You are so weak and weak!"

"Ah ha, you underestimate me, don't you? Look here again!" the little tailor replied. He unbuttoned his shirt and showed his belt to the giant. "You will know what kind of person I am if you think about it.

.”

The giant began to read: "Kill seven people at once." He thought that the tailor had killed seven people at once, and he couldn't help but respect the little tailor. However, he was determined to try his skills with the little tailor first.

So, he picked up a stone and squeezed it hard with his hands until water dripped from the stone.

"If you are really strong," said the giant, "do this too."

"That's it?" the little tailor said. "To me, it's just a toy." As he said that, he put his hand into his pocket and took out the soft cheese. He squeezed it gently and the cheese came out.

come out.

The giant looked at it and didn't know what to say, but he doubted whether such a little man was really that strong. Then he picked up a bunch of stones and threw them into the air. The stones flew so high that with the naked eye,

Almost invisible.

"Here," said the giant, "poor little dwarf, you come too."

"Indeed, you threw it quite high," the little tailor retorted, "but the stone still fell back to the ground as fast as you threw it. I will show you how to throw it out and it will not fall back again."

After that, he took the little bird out of his pocket and threw it into the air. The freed bird flew away happily and disappeared without a trace without looking back. "Hey, man.

"Is this hand okay?" the little tailor asked.

"I don't deny that you can throw things." The giant replied, "Now let me see if you can carry heavy things."

He led the little tailor to a large oak tree that had been chopped down. "If you are really strong, help me carry this tree away from the forest."

"Okay," said the little tailor, "you carry the trunk and I carry the branches. These branches are the most difficult to get."

The giant carried the tree trunk, but the little tailor sat on a branch. The giant could not look back, so he had to carry the whole tree and the little tailor sitting on the branch.

The little tailor sat in the back, feeling relaxed and happy, whistling happily and singing a few lines of the song "Three tailors rode out of the city". Carrying the tree seemed like a game to him.

The giant carried the heavy tree for a distance and was out of breath from exhaustion. He shouted that he could no longer walk and the tree must be put down.

The little tailor jumped down, hugged the tree with both arms, and pretended to be carrying the tree along the way. Then he said to the giant, "You are such a big man, you can't even carry a tree!"

They walked forward quickly and came to a cherry tree. The crown of the tree was covered with ripe cherries. The giant grabbed the crown of the tree, pulled it down and handed it to the little tailor so that he could eat as much as he wanted. But where was the little tailor?

He had so much strength to hold on to the cherry tree. As soon as the giant let go, the tree suddenly straightened up, and the little tailor was also launched into the air.

The little tailor landed safely, and the giant shouted: "Ahem! You don't even have the strength to grab such a small branch?"

"What does this have to do with strength!" replied the little tailor. "I can kill seven at once. Do you think I can't even grab a twig? There is a hunter in the woods who wants to shoot me, so I just

Run across the top of the tree in a hurry. If you have the ability, jump and show me."

The giant tried, but failed to jump over, and was hung on a branch. In this way, the little tailor gained the upper hand again.

So, the giant said: "You are a great little warrior, please come to my cave to spend the night."

The little tailor was very willing and followed him. When they came to the cave, they saw some giants sitting around the fire, each holding a roast lamb in his hand and eating it like bread.

The little tailor thought to himself: "This is much better than my workshop." The giant pointed him to a bed and told him to lie down and rest. But the bed was too big for the little tailor, so he did not lie down on it.

In the middle of the bed, he crawled into a corner. In the middle of the night, the giant thought that the little tailor was asleep, so he grabbed a big iron nail, aimed it at the bed, and drove it into the bed, thinking that he had killed the little grasshopper.

At dawn the next day, the giants set out for the woods, forgetting all about the little tailor. The little tailor was still lively and carefree as usual, walking towards them. When the giants saw him, they thought the little tailor was going to fight.

They were so frightened that they all ran away. As for the little tailor, he continued on his way and kept walking forward.

After walking for a long time, the little tailor came to the courtyard of a palace. At this time, he was exhausted, so he fell on the ground and fell asleep. While he was lying there sleeping, many people came over and saw him.

The words embroidered on his belt read: "Seven killed at once!" "Oh!" they thought to themselves, "this must be a great hero. What is he doing here in peacetime?" They immediately went to report to the king, saying

Once a war breaks out, this person will be of great use, so you must not let him go.

The king liked the idea very much and sent a minister to find the little tailor and ask him to serve in the army as soon as he woke up. The envoy stood aside and watched the sleeping little tailor until he waited.

The little tailor stretched and slowly opened his eyes before making a request to him.

"That's why I'm here," replied the little tailor, "and I'm happy to serve the king."

So he received a grand reception and got a unique residence. But the other officers were very jealous and wished that he would leave here early and far away. "If we fight with him," they talked, "he will

He can kill seven of us, so how can this be a good thing? We are completely defeated." Later, they decided to go to see the king as soon as possible and submit a collective resignation. "What kind of people are we," they explained to the king.

, "I can't work with a great hero who killed seven people at once."

The king felt very sad that he had to lose all his loyal officers because of one person. He wished he had never seen the little tailor at all and wished he could send him away early. However, the king did not have the guts to send him away. He was worried that the little tailor would be sent away early.

The tailor beat him and his subjects to death and ascended to the throne. He racked his brains and thought hard, and finally came up with an idea. He sent someone to tell the little tailor that he was an outstanding, brave and fearless hero.

Therefore, I would like to make the following proposals to him:

On his territory, there is a big forest, and there are two giants living in the forest. They burn, kill, and rob, doing all kinds of evil and causing great harm. But so far, no one dares to risk their lives to compete with them. If the little tailor can subdue and

After killing these two giants, the king promised to betroth his only daughter to him, gave him half of his kingdom, and was also going to send him a hundred knights to help him.

"What a great encouragement for a person like you," the little tailor thought to himself, "a beautiful princess and half a kingdom, what a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

So, he replied: "Of course, I will subdue those two giants. As for the hundred knights, I don't need them. A hero like me can kill seven at once, how could those two

He is my opponent."

The little tailor set off, followed by a hundred knights. When they came to the forest, he said to the knights: "You stay here, and I will deal with those two guys alone." After that, he ran in alone.

In the forest, while walking, I looked around. Not long after, I found the two giants. They were lying under a big tree and sleeping, snoring so loudly that the branches were almost shaken off. The little tailor

He was busy filling his two pockets with stones, and then climbed up the tree. Halfway through the climb, he quietly climbed up a branch, and under the branch were the heads of the two sleeping giants. Then he dropped the stones one after another.

He hit a giant on the chest hard. The big guy didn't move for a while. Then he finally woke up, pushed his companion next to him, and asked, "Why did you hit me?"

"Are you dreaming," replied the other, "who hit you?"

After saying this, they both lay down to sleep again. This time, the little tailor threw a stone at the second giant.

"What are you doing?" cried the second one, "Why are you hitting me with stones?"

"I didn't," growled the first.

They quarreled for a while, but because they felt sleepy, they closed their eyes and fell asleep again. The little tailor repeated his old trick and chose the biggest stone and threw it at the first giant.

"This is outrageous!" the first giant roared. He jumped up from the ground like crazy and pushed his companion towards the tree, causing the tree to shake. Chapter 1

The two men refused to give in, fighting tooth for tooth. The two guys were so angry that they uprooted the big trees and threw them towards each other. In the end, they were both injured and fell to the ground dead.

The little tailor immediately jumped down from the tree. "It's a blessing," he said, "that they didn't pull up the tree I just climbed on."

After that, he pulled out his sword and stabbed each giant in the chest. Then he walked up to the knights and said, "It's done. I have killed those two giants. It was really a thrilling scene."

What happened to them. Seeing that the situation was not going well, they uprooted the big trees and resisted. Of course, it was in vain when faced with a hero like me who could kill seven people at once."

The knights rode into the forest and saw two giants lying in a pool of blood, surrounded by uprooted trees. Then they believed the little tailor's words.

After returning, the little tailor asked the king to give him the reward he had promised, but the king regretted it and thought about how to send the little tailor away.

"Before you can get my daughter and half the kingdom," he said, "you must accomplish one more feat. In that forest there is a dangerous unicorn, and you must capture it."

"I'm not afraid of two giants. What's so scary about a unicorn?" the little tailor boasted.

The little tailor took a rope and an ax and set out for the forest, telling his followers to wait outside the forest. Without much searching, he found the unicorn right in front of him and heading straight towards him.

Rush over.

He stood there motionless, waiting for the unicorn to approach, and quickly jumped behind the tree. The unicorn ran towards the tree like crazy, and stuck its horn firmly into the trunk, trying to pull it out.

If you don't come out, you will be caught.

"Man, I'll catch you this time," the little tailor said after turning out from behind the tree. He tied the unicorn's neck with the rope, then split the trunk with an ax and loosened the horns.

Take the unicorn back to see the king.

Unexpectedly, the king still refused to give him the reward he had promised to the little tailor, and put forward a third condition. He must go back to the forest to catch a wild boar that was very harmful, and then the wedding could be held.

"I'll be happy to go," replied the little tailor, "and catching a wild boar wouldn't be a joke."

As soon as the wild boar saw the little tailor, it foamed at the mouth, gritted its teeth, and rushed towards him, trying to knock him to the ground. Unexpectedly, the brave little tailor quickly jumped into a small church nearby.

In the blink of an eye, he jumped out of the window again. The wild boar chased him into the church. The little tailor ran over from the back of the church and closed the door. The menacing wild boar was heavy and clumsy, and could not jump out of the window, so he was trapped.

Caught.

Then the brave little tailor went to the king and told him that, willingly or unwillingly, he must keep his promise this time and give him his daughter and half the kingdom.

Their wedding was held with great ceremony, but there was little laughter. However, the little tailor became the king.

Soon, the young queen heard her husband talking in his sleep one night. The little tailor shouted loudly in his dream: "Apprentice, hurry up and sew this vest and mend these trousers, otherwise I will let you

Let her head taste the power of a ruler." In this way, she found out the origins of her monarch and her husband. She complained to her father early the next morning, complaining that the husband the king chose for her was just a despicable man.

tailor.

The king comforted her and said: "Tonight, you open the door of the dressing room, and I will send my attendants to guard outside. When he falls asleep, my attendants will quietly go in and tie him up, and then put him on a ship.

Sent to the ends of the earth."

The little tailor who became the king had a manservant. Hearing what the old king said, he reported the conspiracy to his master.

At night, the little tailor went to bed on time as usual and lay next to his wife. She thought he had fallen asleep, so she got up from the bed, opened the door to the dressing room, and then lay on the bed again. The little tailor was just pretending to sleep.

Then he started shouting in a high voice: "Apprentice, sew this vest and mend these trousers, otherwise I will let your head taste the power of a ruler. I killed seven of them at once,

Having killed two giants, captured a unicorn, and a big wild boar, am I still afraid of one of the people in the dressing room?" After hearing what the little tailor said, I planned to tie him up.

The few people who got up were all frightened to death and ran away. From then on, no one dared to touch his hair. In this way, the brave little tailor continued to be his king until he died.
