Chapter 29 Special Supplement

Before I knew it, the sun was setting outside the window.

Powell was obsessed with Huang Mingzhe's three papers until his assistant reminded him that it was time to get off work, and Powell woke up with a start.

"Oh my god, I almost forgot that Laura's birthday is today." Powell patted his forehead, hurriedly sent three papers to three reviewers, and hurriedly took the car keys and left.

Sometimes the life of a mathematician is really boring to outsiders, especially those top mathematicians who are in high positions, and their lives can only be described as monotonous.

After a meticulous dinner, Edward Witten looked at Princeton University at night like a paradise.

As a big boss across mathematics and physics, Edward Witten's strength is undoubted, especially his serious square face, which makes people think that he is a taciturn person.

Suddenly there was a knock on his door.

Edward Witten walked over steadily and opened the door: "Pierre"

The visitor was a little thinner, with a Mediterranean haircut. He was Viscount Pierre René Deligne, the mathematician at Princeton University.

"Edouard, have you received Powell's manuscript?" Pierre Deligne asked hurriedly.

"Manuscript"

"It seems you didn't receive it."

"What manuscript"

"Huang Mingzhe's new topology paper." Pierre Deligne replied concisely and concisely.

"Oh, that young man has published another paper." Edward Witten frowned.

"Yes, and there are three of them."

Edward Witten quickly opened his laptop, and sure enough, he found three new emails in his email box, namely "Topological Continuity and Uncertainty-Chaos Formula", "Poincaré-Riemann-Loch-

Grothendieck's high-dimensional transformation—topological ensemble group", "Analytical-algebraic-topological superdimensional space model".

After he opened it and decompressed it, he looked at it attentively for more than three hours. He was silent and thinking about the situation.

"Edouard, what do you think?" asked Pierre Deligne.

Edward Witten took off his glasses, rubbed his sore eyes, and then said seriously: "I took a rough look at it, and it's not a big problem."

"So, you already agree with Huang's theory."

"No." Edward Witten shook his head: "I need to check further carefully. After all, this matter cannot be careless."

Pierre Deligne also nodded. Huang Mingzhe's 10 papers exceed 700 pages, which are linked together to form a large and rigorous topology theory, pushing topology to a whole new level.

But as long as there is an error in one of the formulas or derivation, it is very likely to cause the building to collapse.

As reviewers, Edward Witten and Pierre Deligne were very cautious.

The two agreed to communicate once a day and then separated.

Edward Witten also printed out Huang Mingzhe's seven previous papers, and then re-deduce them part by part. It is not that easy for reviewers of top mathematics journals to do.

Since there are so many branches in the field of mathematics, almost no one can be proficient in every branch. Even masters in the field of analytical topology may not understand each other's papers.

If it were a paper on aliens like Mochizuki Shinichi, even Edward Witten would want a Muggle. After all, this big boss likes to create new terms the most, and he creates a new system alone.

The problem is that other than Mochizuki Shinichi himself, no one else can figure this system out for several years, and Mochizuki Shinichi does not explain these new terms in his papers. It is estimated that no one else in the world can understand it except himself.

There is a rhythm of self-admiration.

Fortunately, Huang Mingzhe's topology theory is a new development that connects the past and the future. It reorganizes and derives topology through existing formulas and knowledge, and transforms topology into a more coherent and clear one.

What makes Edward Witten even more exquisite is that the new topology developed by Huang Mingzhe is very easy to verify. Many of its formulas can make topology tributaries such as the Poincaré conjecture easier to understand, because topology

have been unified.

This greatly reduces the difficulty for reviewers.

Although it is very easy to understand, the new topology is still very complicated. There are as many as eighteen newly derived formulas alone.

It took Edward Witten and Pierre Deligne about half a month to completely deduce this new topological edifice.

The two of them were sitting in the dormitory again. Edward Witten was more haggard than he was half a month ago, but his eyes were brighter.

Pour Pierre Deligne a cup of black tea.

"It's hard to imagine that this achievement was accomplished by one person." Edward Witten shook his head with emotion, as if lamenting that time is not forgiving.

"After all, the world needs young people to inherit and develop. We should be lucky to have new generations like Tao Zhexuan, Huang Mingzhe, and Peter Schultz." Pierre Deligne said with a smile.

"There is no problem with the paper. I am thinking that Huang Mingzhe must be a perfectionist." Edward Witten joked.

"Oh why"

"There are not even a few mistakes in the paper. It can be seen that he is a person who pursues perfection."

"Haha, his perfection saved us at least a few months." Pierre Deligne laughed heartily.

Edward Witten certainly knows the reason. If you encounter a paper like Shinichi Mochizuki, it will be the paper that all reviewers dislike the most.

I can't understand it myself, and I can't make any conclusions casually. As a result, it takes a year and a half to review the paper. Who has so much time to waste on it?

The two made the final conclusion and unanimously approved "Topological Continuity and Uncertainty—Chaos Formula", "Poincaré-Riemann-Loch-Grothendieck High-Dimensional Transformation—Topological Ensemble Group", "

Three papers: “Analytical-Algebraic-Topological Hyperdimensional Space Model”.

Edward Witten and Pierre Deligne approved three papers, and the other reviewer was Qiu Chengtong, who obviously had no problems.

Although the three big guys all unanimously passed the paper review, the editorial department of the Annual Journal of Mathematics is in a dilemma. If it is published in March next year, the previously selected papers will have to be readjusted.

But if I don’t publish it, I would be sorry for this exquisite mathematical masterpiece.

"Editor-in-Chief, why not publish a supplement?" an editor suggested.

"There are three papers in the supplement. It's not long enough. Why don't we find some other papers to fill it in?" Another editor asked the question.

Powell thought for a while, and suddenly his eyes lit up: "No, there is no need to find other papers. Each time we publish it, it is divided into two volumes. It is better to directly combine the seven preprints published by Huang Mingzhe with these three papers and compile it.

Published in one volume."

After hearing this and discussing it, other editors agreed with Powell's idea.

Then Powell contacted Huang Mingzhe again. Huang Mingzhe did not expect that the Mathematics Annual would be so bold and dedicated a supplement to his new topology. Naturally, he had no objection to such a good thing.

The Annals of Mathematics obtained Huang Mingzhe's consent and sent the seven papers to Edward Witten, Qiu Chengtong and others for a formal review.
