Chapter 1929 This is just the rules of the Buddhist temple
Xuanzang.
During the prosperous period of the Tang Dynasty, when the country was prosperous and the people were strong, it was a rare dynasty in history.
But in history, later generations did not know that under the prosperous age of the Tang Dynasty, there were countless demons hidden, causing chaos for all demons.
Jinshan Temple was extremely prosperous in history and had many Buddhist disciples.
In the temple, there was a child picked up from the river by the abbot, whose Buddhist name was Xuanzang.
Speaking of which, Xuanzang was quite different from the other disciples in the temple. The other disciples studied Buddhism seriously and liked to read scriptures. Every day, they read the Dharma and read the Buddhist scriptures, which looked like they would be feared by future generations.
You know, it was not easy to become a monk in ancient times, because monks were exempted from military service and taxes, so it was very difficult to become a monk with strict ultimatums.
Therefore, all children who become monks should study Buddhism seriously and cherish this opportunity.
But Xuanzang was an anomaly. He didn't like Buddhism. He played around with the children in nearby villages every day, sometimes going up to the mountains to hunt, sometimes going down to the sea to fish.
He looks like a hunter's child or a fisherman's child, but he doesn't look like he grew up in a temple.
Although all the monks were extremely dissatisfied with what Xuanzang said, why should they study Buddhism diligently while Xuanzang could play around?
This is quite unfair to them.
Many people have also reported this to the abbot, who always smiles and doesn't explain anything.
It was hard for the others to say anything more, after all, Xuanzang was the child picked up by the abbot.
Day by day, very quickly, it has been eighteen years since Xuanzang arrived at Jinshan Temple.
Xuanzang is extremely good-looking, and he has become another attraction of Jinshan Temple. After many people come to Jinshan Temple, they will admire this good-looking monk who does not do his job properly.
In the morning class that day, many young monks were sitting on futons. When the master who taught the lesson came, one of the more than thirty monks sitting on futons said: "Master, Xuanzang doesn't do it every day."
You come here to do your homework, but you don’t worship the Buddha in Jinshan Temple, you don’t read the scriptures, and you don’t understand the meaning of the scriptures. How can you be so virtuous?”
For other monks, daily morning homework is necessary, but Xuanzang never came. Every morning, he would run out of Jinshan Temple to play.
In the past, when Xuanzang was young, some monks could tolerate him, thinking that the child was playful, but now he is eighteen years old, and according to the secular world, children of this age are quite old.
The master who taught the class understood the dissatisfaction of these disciples and said, "What does it have to do with you if others don't study the scriptures? Just study hard."
Some disciples couldn't help muttering, and one of them stood up: "Master, I don't accept it, why Xuanzang plays every day, but we have to study so hard."
The master frowned and scolded: "You are jealous, this is a taboo!"
All the disciples immediately dared not answer.
At this moment, the abbot passed by. He had a white beard, was slightly fat, and had a kind face. He also heard the movement inside and walked in.
"Why are you making so much noise if you don't do morning service?" the abbot asked.
The monk who taught the lesson told what happened.
When the abbot heard this, he laughed and said to the following monks: "In that case, let Xuanzang come over and give me an explanation."
"Of course it's good."
"The abbot is just."
The other disciples were overjoyed and secretly thought that Xuanzang would be in bad luck now and might even be expelled from Jinshan Temple.
You must know that the rules in Jinshan Temple are extremely strict and cannot be avoided casually.
Not long after, Xuanzang came to the place where he was doing his morning lessons, barefoot and wearing a thin monk suit, holding some live fish in his hand.
"Good morning, everyone." Xuanzang smiled and said, "I was just fishing when I heard that the abbot was looking for me?"
When the monks saw the fish in Xuanzang's hand, they exploded one by one.
"Xuan Zang really didn't know that the sky was high and the earth was high. He just didn't do morning lessons, but he actually went fishing."
"Xuan Zang, don't tell me that you catch fish to release them."
When Xuanzang heard this, he smiled and touched his bald head and said, "I bought these fish from the fishermen and I'm just about to release them."
"Of course, I have to save one for eating."
This time, the monks were angered: "Xuan Zang, is it possible that you don't know the precepts in our Buddhist temple, and you actually buy fish to eat? This is killing."
Xuanzang looked at everyone with a strange look on his face: "I won't buy these fish. They will be eaten by others eventually. I only keep one to eat and put the others away, which shows that I have a kind heart."
One disciple scolded: "Why don't you release all the fish?"
Xuanzang replied: "I bought it with money, why don't I eat one? Is there a rule that says you can't eat the things you buy?"
The master who taught the class couldn't stand it and said, "Xuan Zang, there are regulations in the Buddhist temple that prohibit killing and eating meat. Have you forgotten it?"
Xuanzang said: "This is just the rule of the Buddhist temple."
The master who taught the class said: "This is true in all temples in the world. We Buddhists cannot eat meat."
Xuanzang murmured in a low voice: "No wonder no one in the world can become a Buddha."
The instructor was a little angry: "What did you say?"
Xuanzang said: "I have never heard the Buddha tell me not to eat meat."
"You are using strong words to make excuses." The instructor was very angry. He used to think that this kid was just playful, but he didn't expect that he could use such strong words to make excuses.
The abbot raised his hand, and the scene became quite quiet. Then the abbot said: "Xuan Zang, you have been in Jinshan Temple for so many years, but you refuse to chant sutras and do morning prayers every day. Why is this?"
Xuanzang said: "I have never heard that the Buddha had to do morning prayers, nor have I heard that anyone can become a Buddha by chanting sutras and chanting the Buddha's name every day."
The abbot said with a smile: "Then you are saying that chanting sutras and chanting Buddha's name is useless?"
Xuanzang said: "Disciples don't dare."
A disciple stood up and said: "You just don't dare, and you still think that chanting sutras and reciting Buddha's name is useless, right?"
Xuanzang nodded and said: "The purpose of chanting sutras and chanting Buddha's teachings is to allow people to study the Dharma, not to gather people in a room and show off."
All the disciples were in an uproar. This guy dared to say that they were all just showing off.
Xuanzang touched his bald head: "Isn't it true? Are you really immersed in Buddhism every day here? Are you willing to come here every day? I'm afraid it's too much to deal with."
These disciples were about to refute.
Xuanzang pointed to the Buddha statue of Sakyamuni: "Buddha is here, don't talk nonsense."
The faces of these disciples turned red. Xuanzang was right. Most of them were indeed here to complete their missions.
I wonder who can study Buddhism with such concentration every day.
Seeing that the disciples did not dare to speak, the teacher did not know their thoughts, so he said, "But you are just playing around like this every day, and why do you think that Jinshan Temple is my place?"
