Xuanzang opened his mouth and said: "Karma will repay you and reincarnation will continue."
The banshee sneered and said: "Monk, I see you look like a fledgling, but you don't know that the world is dangerous. We monsters do kill a lot of people, but how about humans, have we ever stopped killing each other?"
"Even without us monsters, humans are still killing each other. I think this world is like purgatory, unbearable suffering."
Xuanzang said: "When you look at the world with ordinary eyes, there is suffering everywhere. When I look at the world with Buddha eyes, there is joy everywhere."
Banshee: "According to what you said, you have become a Buddha?"
Xuanzang shook his head: "Of course it hasn't happened yet."
Banshee: "Then why do you have Buddha eyes?"
Xuanzang: "Sooner or later."
The banshee's eyes showed a strange look: "This is the first time I have seen such an arrogant monk. I'm afraid no monk dares to say that he will definitely become a Buddha."
Xuanzang replied: "I am not sure that I can become a Buddha, but I am not as hypocritical as others."
"There are other people who, although they are monks, do not have a Buddha in their hearts, let alone want to become a Buddha."
"Some people want to become Buddhas, but in their hearts they deceive others and themselves, pretending to be hypocritical."
"Let me ask you, if you don't even have the courage to become a Buddha, how can you become a Buddha?"
This passage was quite mysterious, and the banshee opened her mouth slightly. She did not expect that the monk in front of her could actually speak such Zen-like words.
The succubus asked: "What would you do if you could become a Buddha?"
"What if I could become a Buddha?" Xuanzang closed his eyes slightly: "Yes, I was born in a Zen monastery. I only knew that everyone around me wanted to become a Buddha, so I wanted to become a Buddha."
"But I don't know why I want to become a Buddha. Maybe time will give me some answers and I will know in the future."
The banshee sighed: "I didn't expect to meet a true master like you here."
The banshee frowned tightly and asked: "Master, I would like to take refuge under your disciples. If you can become a Buddha, are you willing to save me?"
Xuanzang's face showed a smile as bright as the spring breeze: "If I can become a Buddha, I will save you."
"The disciple has met the master."
The banshee believed in Buddha, or in other words, believed in Xuanzang.
Xuanzang's words convinced the banshee that the monk in front of her was different from those wild monks.
Perhaps, this is really a big opportunity for her.
Early the next morning, the town was littered with corpses.
The banshee did not come alone, but a group of monsters came together to kill people.
Xuanzang walked out of the inn with the banshee early the next morning. When he saw the blood stains and corpses outside, he clasped his hands together.
Xuanzang was born in a temple. When had he ever seen such a scene? In other words, such a scene made him feel a little unbearable.
The succubus followed Xuanzang, but Xuanzang visited every family he passed along the way. Whenever a family member died, Xuanzang would stay and help him to be saved.
The banshee was quite puzzled: "This is no good. Why should Master waste time here? In the wilderness, monsters are noisy. Even though a little girl has become a disciple of Master, she may not be able to protect Master."
"It is better to rush to Kyoto as soon as possible and use the master's Buddhist attainments to make a living there so that more people can benefit."
Xuanzang didn't reply. After he saved the dead in the town one by one and continued on the road with the banshee, he gave the banshee an answer.
"If you can't even save these people, how can you talk about saving the world?"
Xuanzang continued on the road and came to the prosperous city of Chang'an with the Banshee.
Chang'an City is extremely prosperous, and the various buildings are enough to dazzle people.
Even after Xuanzang came out of a large temple like Jinhua City and saw the prosperity of Chang'an City, he was still shocked.
Chang'an City has a large population and is the capital city, but it is not as peaceful as imagined.
Chang'an City has a mixed population and is probably the place with the most monsters in the world.
A large number of monsters gathered in Chang'an City.
After Xuanzang came to the capital, he let some high-ranking people in the capital know about it.
After all, he is an eminent monk from Jinshan Temple. He came to the capital and was admired by many people.
Buddhism was popular in the Tang Dynasty, and everyone wanted to listen to Master Xuanzang's lectures.
That day, at the restaurant where Xuanzang was staying, a group of servants came to the door.
But he claims to be a domestic slave of a certain prince.
A few years ago, this prince suffered from a chronic illness and almost died. Later, someone suggested that he try to worship Buddha at Jinshan Temple.
Finally, the prince's wife went to Jinshan Temple. As a result, the Buddha appeared and the prince's illness was really cured.
Afterwards, the prince went to Jinshan Temple in person.
This time, the prince actually received a message from the abbot of Jinshan Temple, asking him to help Xuanzang in Beijing.
Xuanzang was obviously a little surprised by the sudden arrival of these servants. After receiving them, he also understood what the prince meant.
The prince has prepared a lecture, which will be held three days later at Chengming Temple in Chang'an City on Buddhism.
Chengming Temple is very famous in Chang'an, and many dignitaries will go there to pay their respects.
The reputation of Jinshan Temple is probably still lower than that of Chengming Temple.
If this prince had not come forward in person, I am afraid that Chengming Temple would not allow outside monks to preach Buddhism in front of their temple.
Moreover, talking about Buddhism is not that simple.
After the banshee learned about this incident, she was quite worried about Xuanzang's safety and went to Xuanzang: "Master, you can't go on this trip to study Buddhism. If you go, it will be in great danger."
Xuanzang and the succubus came to Chang'an all the way and saw countless demons and ghosts who wanted to harm Xuanzang's life. Only under the protection of the succubus could they escape safely.
When the banshee said this at this time, it was natural that she was right.
Xuanzang asked: "Why?"
The banshee said: "I have seen too much of the ugly faces of you humans. Of course, I am not talking about you, master. You have real wisdom. Do you think that if you lecture on Buddhism in Chengming Temple, Chengming Temple will definitely find other people?"
The monk discusses Buddhism with you."
"It's okay if you lose, but if you win, we will be in great danger."
Xuanzang smiled: "It means, do you think I will win?"
The banshee nodded: "I have never seen a master like you who has such a thorough understanding of Buddhism."
Xuanzang waved his hand: "It's just about Buddhism, it's not as complicated as you think."
Xuanzang also did not want to see the human heart as too complicated. Seeing this, the banshee stopped trying to persuade him.
In the past three days, the news that the disciples of Jinshan Temple would lecture on Buddhism in front of Chengming Temple naturally spread.
It attracted a lot of attention. On the same day, the place in front of Chengming Temple was crowded with people. A high platform was built, and the people were waiting for Xuanzang to talk about Buddhism.
Chengming Temple's face is naturally not good-looking. Chengming Temple's reputation in the capital is so great. What if a foreign monk robs their followers?
Therefore, the abbot of Chengming Temple personally went out to discuss Buddhism with this young junior.
This also surprised many people, who did not expect that the abbot of Chengming Temple would personally take action.
