Chapter 41 Altar

Seeing the last one of them go in, we started to take action.

At first, the space in the cave was very small and short, so we all had to walk on our backs. If we accidentally straightened up, we would hit our heads.

We can no longer see the shadow of those things, so we will speed up.

As we walked, the space became larger and larger.

A door-like exit appeared in front, with a faint light coming out.

"Is this the end?" Chen Jiansheng asked.

Sister Hong shook her head, "I'm not sure, hurry up and take a look, don't get lost."

I am flexible and can run the fastest.

As a result, the car failed to brake when it reached the front and almost fell off.

The gravel rolled down, and Chen Jiansheng grabbed me from behind.

"Why are you so panicked? You're going to die!"

I was so shocked that I took two steps back.

In front of me, from this cave to the ground below, it is at least twenty meters high.

There was a rope made of vines hanging down, and it was obvious that this was the only way to get down.

"Chen Logistics, can you do it with your thin arms and legs?" Chen Jiansheng turned around and asked.

"Just don't fall to death yourself. You don't have to worry about others," Sister Hong said to him.

"Okay," he said, grabbing the vine, "then I'll slide down first and help you explore the way."

It can be seen from his downward movement that he is an experienced hand who knows how to use his legs to push against the wall to adjust the speed of his descent.

At a height of more than 20 meters, it took only five or six minutes for him to slide to the bottom.

Chen Jiansheng loosened the rope from below. He shook his arm towards Sister Hong and me, gesturing for us to come down.

Sister Hong was the second one to give birth. She was not as fast as Chen Jian gave birth, but she was very steady. It can be seen that she also has the foundation.

Compared to the two of them, I was a bit clumsy. Because I had no skills, my hands were very painful due to the vines during the descent.

When I came down, I saw that the palms of my hands were all scratched.

Seeing my miserable state, Chen Jiansheng laughed at me and said: "Young man, please practice more in the future. When sliding the rope, you must use your legs and don't hold on so tightly."

The three of us continued walking forward.

There is a large space below, and there are traces of man-made excavations on the walls. There are also two stone pillars standing in the middle. There is a step leading to the ground in the middle of the stone pillars. It is very dark.

"Can the flashlight still work?" Yunfeng asked.

I turned on the flashlight and tried it.

"There's still a little bit of Dian Hong, I guess I won't last more than an hour."

"Well," she frowned and looked at the steps leading to the ground in front of her, "go down and have a look."

Just like that, we started walking down the stairs.

After coming down, we turned on the flashlight at first, but as we walked, the light of a torch appeared in front of us.

Chen Jiansheng cursed secretly: "It's a damn evil thing. I didn't expect to be able to use fire. I didn't know if I could cook. I really want to taste the food cooked by mandrills."

After he finished speaking, I didn't know what happened. For a moment, I suddenly saw him as the second brother. When I came back to my senses, I felt a little uncomfortable, because the second brother was also like this. He didn't keep his mouth shut, regardless of the occasion.

Regarding the environment, just say whatever comes to mind.

There was a stone paved road under my feet. After walking along the road for only a few minutes, Sister Hong suddenly reminded me: "Don't leave yet. Listen, did you hear it?"

There was a bend ahead. I strained my ears and listened carefully. Indeed, I heard a creaking sound coming from the front.

It's those things.

Hidden around the corner, we carefully peeked inside.

I saw those short things squeaking.

There was a round stone platform in front of them, and the dead one was lying on the round stone platform.

Soon, they stopped squeaking, as if they had unanimously agreed.

Suddenly, one of them jumped up on the stone platform. It groped for a while and pulled out a bluish-white thing that looked like a small axe.

Chen Jiansheng's eyes widened and he suppressed his excitement and said: "Look, did you see it? That's what I said before. These beasts really stole it! That's the Yue! This proves that I didn't lie to you. Look!"

"

"Bang!" I saw the thing holding the ax high and smashing it with its hand.

Smash it one by one.

The scene was very bloody. In just a few strokes, the dead head was smashed, and yellow and white stuff flowed everywhere on the round stone platform.

Seeing this, the others swarmed up and jumped onto the stone platform. They didn't pay attention to their hats and began to lick the yellow and white things crazily.

This scene is not only terrifying, but also disgusting.

The air was filled with the smell of blood, and my stomach was churning, making me want to vomit.

Sister Hong is not much better.

I was so disgusted that I unexpectedly heard Chen Jiansheng complaining in a low voice: "I'll go, what are they doing? They're drinking tofu."

After licking them clean, these things moved forward one after another and disappeared into the darkness.

After they left, the three of us came out naturally.

On the pebble platform, the thing's head was already in disarray, and had been eaten clean by his accomplices. There were still some yellow and white residue.

Chen Jiansheng was the first to discover that there were traces of inscriptions on the round stone platform.

It should be carved with bird seal characters. Because it has been so long ago, the radicals of some of the calligraphy and paintings on the bird seal characters can no longer be seen clearly. Resisting nausea, we pushed the body down. The row of bird seal characters below can be seen most clearly.

.

"Sister Hong, do you know her?" I asked.

She shook her head, "I can only recognize one of the dozens of characters in this paragraph," she pointed at one of the bird seal characters and said, "I have seen this on other bronze vessels before. It should be a sacrificial character."

"Sacrifice?" I asked curiously, "Is it a sacrificial offering?"

"Yes," she nodded solemnly.

"Looking at it this way, then this is the altar," Chen Jiansheng said his thoughts after looking around for a week.

The culture of offering sacrifices has existed since ancient times and still exists today. Burning paper during the Qingming Festival and burning incense in temples are also considered a type of sacrifice.

However, in the Shang Dynasty and the early Western Zhou Dynasty, the word sacrifice represented blood and death.

Because of the prevalence of slavery, animals were rarely sacrificed during the Shang and Zhou dynasties. On the contrary, human sacrifice was very popular.

The slave's head would be beheaded on the sacrificial platform, and then the head would be placed in a bronze vessel called a dowry. In the bronze dome, the wizard responsible for presiding over the sacrifice would find a knife and poke a small circle on the heavenly cap of the head.

Hole. The reason why the round hole was opened was because people at that time believed that the sky was round.

This move is meant to offer tribute, release the soul of the tribute, and offer it to the gods. This is just one way of using the sacrificial altar in the Shang and Zhou dynasties. There are many other ways. In the final analysis, they are all painful and vicious evil arts.

In the tombs of the Western Zhou Dynasty, there is often a rule that once a sacrificial platform is discovered, there must be human heads or human bones buried in the pit within five meters of the sacrificial platform.

And we did find this martyrdom pit.

Just northwest of the round altar.
