Chapter 50: How Wizards Bargained Prices

In the wizarding world, talismans have always been a must-have for many wizards when traveling at home.

A wizard may not be good at magic spells with weird tones; he may not be able to mix potions with complicated procedures; but he can definitely use talismans.

With only a small amount of magic power and simple rituals—sometimes even the rituals require no preparation—any wizard who can create a fireball the size of a cherry can release a power that shakes the world through a talisman.

Therefore, the Wizards Alliance, as the maintainer of order in the wizarding world, has strictly controlled the talismans circulating in the market.

From the appearance of the talismans, to their different powers, to the number of talismans in circulation, the Wizards Alliance has made detailed requirements. For this reason, it has also specially promulgated the "Wizards Alliance Talisman Management Measures".

Theoretically, talismans with a validity period of more than three months and general lethality are prohibited from being circulated in the market, and a single customer who purchases more than 50 talismans must report a three-pronged sword record.

However, in actual operation, this method is not strictly implemented.

Because lawyers in the wizarding world have been arguing endlessly about the criteria for determining "generally lethal".

Of course, the promulgation of the "Wizards Alliance Talisman Management Measures" also set a basic standard for the talismans circulating in the market.

For example, wizards refer to talismans that are valid for three months as "standard talismans" to differentiate between "high-quality talismans" that are more than three months old and "inferior talismans" that are less than three months old.

For another example, wizards call fifty talismans "one hand", which means five fingers on one hand, representing fifty talismans. One transaction can only be limited to this; old-school wizards will shake hands after the transaction to confirm the transaction;

Only fifty pieces can be traded at a time, and the wizard needs to re-initiate the transaction after each transaction, so "one hand" is used as a proxy for a complete transaction of talismans.

Even standard talismans have certain price differences in different regions.

Beta Town is located outside the First University of Phuket. It has the largest number of talisman makers in the wizarding world. Therefore, the local talisman market provides the benchmark price for the talisman market in the entire wizarding world.

In other words, it can be understood as: the standard talismans here have the lowest price in the wizarding world.

Therefore, Zheng Qing had reason to be shocked by the exchange rate given by the wandering wizard.

According to the market price in Beta Town, the base price of a standard talisman valid for three months and the simplest meditation talisman is more than a golden bean.

For wizards, the effect of stacking talismans is better, so the unit sales price of the same batch of talismans is higher.

For example, the market price of a meditation talisman is one golden bean; the market price of a hand of 50 meditation talismans will soar to 60 golden beans.

The five hundred talismans quoted by the wandering wizard had a market price of at least 600 gold beans, which could be converted into sixty jade coins!

If there are a few more complicated talismans inside, or if these talismans are sold through an auction house, the value will only be higher!

"This is robbery, sir!" Zheng Qing shouted, waving his hands excitedly, his face completely losing the previous respect and caution.

"This price has been strictly evaluated." The wandering wizard analyzed very calmly: "According to the intensity of your past practice, you should have accumulated a large number of talismans on hand... It can be speculated that some of the talismans you have accumulated have expired, and some are close to their expiration date.

There are also defective talismans, which need to be accounted for insect consumption, paper repair, packaging, etc. Fifty jade coins are already a conscientious price."

Zheng Qing was stunned and speechless.

There are indeed many accumulated talismans in his gray cloth bag, but he plans to sell these stocks to earn some living expenses.

After being reminded by the interviewer Thomas, Zheng Qing went through his little treasury.

According to the market conditions he has learned recently, in this batch of inventory, there are nearly a thousand talismans belonging to the 'inferior quality'; there are nearly 400 talismans belonging to the 'standard' grade; and there are even thirty or forty talismans belonging to the 'standard' grade.

Excellent talismans.

"Do you want a non-standard talisman?" Seeing the wandering wizard refusing to give in, Zheng Qing decided to change his mind.

Perhaps because the name "inferior product" sounds unpleasant, Zheng Qing deliberately used a very neutral way of asking the question.

"High-quality talismans have always been widely welcomed in the market." The wandering wizard replied very smoothly.

"I mean the talismans that did not meet the standards." Zheng Qing blushed and corrected in a sullen voice.

"Oh, inferior product." The wandering wizard replied dryly: "According to the market price, one copper is exchanged for one inferior talisman. If the quantity is large, the seller will give a discount."

"In other words, one thousand inferior talismans cost only one jade coin!" Zheng Qing took a deep breath: "This is worse than robbery."

"No one can guarantee the quality of inferior talismans." The wandering wizard was also helpless: "A talisman that cannot even reach the three-month validity period must have defects in the composition or sealing of spirits... This kind of talisman is very challenging for wizards in use.

Luck. And most wizards don't like to rely on luck to cast spells."

"But your store is not qualified to purchase and sell talismans." Xiao Xiao, who had been standing aside, suddenly said: "As we all know, the talisman trade is a specialized business of the Umbrella League."

The wandering wizard was obviously caught off guard by the question.

Maybe no one has asked him about qualifications or legal issues for a long time.

"This is a person-to-person sales method, referred to as 'P2P'." The wandering wizard explained vaguely: "It is a direct transaction between two wizards. My store is just a place for matchmaking... That's it."

"You didn't issue an invoice to us, and the source of these things... you know." Xiao Xiao obviously found that his entry point was very effective, so he held his notebook and looked at the wandering wizard righteously: "

So you need to reconsider the price.”

"Five hundred standard talismans will be charged, and there is a risk of failure. Moreover, this is already the price for gold card customers after a 50% discount... There is no room for negotiation." The wandering wizard quickly stabilized his position and refused very decisively.

"We are quasi-minors! We should have appropriate discounts."

"You are all college students!" The wandering wizard couldn't help complaining: "Be more mature."

Zheng Qing looked at the two people bargaining back and forth, feeling quite helpless.

"Why don't you buy us a drink?" Realizing that there was no hope of price reduction, Zheng Qing finally made a compromise suggestion.

The two people who were arguing looked at him at the same time.

"Okay!" The wandering wizard looked light and obviously breathed a sigh of relief: "I'll get the wine!"

After saying that, he left the private room without calling the waiter in the store.

It was obvious that he was very satisfied with being able to silence these young wizards with a few bottles of wine.

Zheng Qing also breathed a sigh of relief.

After the wandering wizard left the private room, he turned to look at his companions.
