Chapter Five Hundred and Fifty-Sixth 'Golo Winston Marriage Contract'

As the vicious voice appeared, a crowbar was smashed on Shade's head. But without even a sound in his ear reminding him, the crowbar was held by Iluna who was walking behind Shade.

Shade found the gas light switch, then turned around to look at it, and said helplessly:

"As expected, it was you. I said, you attacked us with a crowbar. Who are you looking down on? I thought it was at least a pistol."

The person who tried to attack them was Toby Julian, and this result was completely unexpected.

"I don't have a gun license and can't buy a gun. You..."

Mr. Julian looked at the two of them in surprise and tried to take the crowbar out of Iluna's hand, but instead Iluna snatched the crowbar away. The seventeen-year-old girl raised her right leg and suddenly pulled the crowbar away.

The iron crowbar was bent and then thrown into the corridor behind him.

Not only Mr. Julian was frightened, but Shade was also frightened.

As the crowbar clattered to the ground, Shade looked into the room. He saw the corpse bride wearing a white wedding dress and a veil, holding her hands together, quietly bathing in the moonlight outside the window.

It seemed that because of her presence, the light of the gas lamp in the room kept swaying, and the way it flickered on and off suited Mr. Julian's mood at the moment.

But the Corpse Bride's outfit and the corpse itself showed no signs of being damaged just now. Moreover, she just stood there and did not attack again because of the enemy's appearance.

"The injury is too serious, so is it being repaired? But why is it under the moon every time it is repaired?"

Shade thought to himself.

"No, no one can interrupt my wedding with her! No one can!"

Seeing Shade looking at the bride, Mr. Julian wanted to continue to pounce, but Shade held his gun to his head:

"I'll give you three seconds. Go sit on the chair over there and let us search the room. If you don't make the right choice after three seconds, I will shoot. Three!"

Mr. Julian stared at Shade with an angry look on his face, as if his eyeballs were about to pop out, but he did not move at all.

"two!"

Shade stared at him as well, and at the same time pressed down the battering ram of the revolver with his left hand. Mr. Julian breathed heavily, pressed his head against the muzzle of the revolver, but remained stubbornly motionless.

"one!"

Shade's fingers trembled suddenly.

"I surrender!"

Mr. Julian raised his hands in the air, but he still flinched. With his eyes closed, this man who was less than thirty years old seemed to have aged ten years:

"I surrender."

He whispered.

Shade forced Mr. Julian to sit on the chair in front of the desk with a gun. He controlled the man and asked Iluna to search the room. The corpse bride stood quietly in front of the window, the moonlight shone on her body, and she

Just like a still humanoid doll.

They were very lucky this time. Mr. Julian had a good habit of keeping a diary, and Shade hoped that all his enemies would do the same.

The diary was under the mattress at the foot of the bed. In addition, Iluna also found an old book introducing ancient ghost marriage and funeral customs under the raised floorboard in the corner.

This is a curious book published by an illegal publishing house, and is a publication strictly prohibited by the Orthodox Church.

"He's marrying her sister?"

This was the first sentence Iluna said in surprise after reading the diary. Shade looked at the man with his gun pointed at him, who covered his face in pain.

Iluna continued to browse, her brows furrowed more and more:

"Wait, it seems like it's not just that. Toby Julian, your sister's death is actually related to you?"

Mr. Julian, who was pointed at by Shade, sat on a stool in the corner and nodded dejectedly:

"I didn't expect this to happen."

"Wait a minute, didn't Miss Julian commit suicide because she was abandoned by her lover?"

Shade was very puzzled.

"Yes, but why was she abandoned by her lover?"

Iluna snorted:

"Mr. Julian and Miss Julian depend on each other. He has always had some unspeakable thoughts about his sister..."

"It's just an idea, I haven't done anything!"

Mr. Julian defended himself loudly, the rising and falling of his chest showing that he was very excited.

"Miss Julian was ready to get engaged. Mr. Julian, who learned about this, got very drunk half a month ago, and then went to make trouble with Miss Julian's fiancé and beat him up.

, causing the other party's right hand to be broken. Miss Julian's fiancé was so angry that he refused to see Miss Julian, so the poor lady thought she was being abandoned for no reason, so she hanged herself at home."

Mr. Julian's expression was no longer excited. He sobbed and covered his face with his hands:

"I, I really didn't expect it, I really didn't expect it to happen like this. It's all the wine's fault. Alcohol is really harmful to people."

Shade's mouth trembled:

"Then what happened next?"

Shade pointed to the corpse bride standing motionless by the window. She stood there in an elegant posture, like a physical doll.

Iluna turned back a few pages:

"After Miss Julian's death, Mr. Julian was not willing to accept this result. Because he had been interested in occultism before, so after burying his sister, he emptied his savings and recruited people around him who were also interested in occultism.

I went to a friend to inquire about the 'ghost marriage' ceremony. This guy actually succeeded. He got an ancient marriage certificate from a merchant selling prohibited items. I think that marriage certificate was the cause of this incident.

They call that parchment..."

Iluna turned to the next page:

"The Cullo Winston Marriage Contract."

Although there is no evidence, Shade has almost determined that this is the relic that caused this incident.

Iluna looked very worried because Blackstone Security Company had something to do recently. How many people had come into contact with that marriage certificate and where did it come from? These are all questions:

"The diary says that by writing your name and the name of the person you love at the bottom of the parchment-based marriage letter, you can achieve eternal love between the two. And if one party is dead, the other party is dead.

Living people, after getting the corpse, writing the name with the corpse's blood can restore the corpse to its original state and allow the deceased to return to the world, and then they can be together forever... Really, it's actually true

There are people who do this kind of thing.”

"You actually believe such a thing?"

Shade asked Mr. Julian, who sobbed and said:

"Yes, I hired a group of professional body snatchers to sneak into the cemetery and dig out the body with me. After waking up my sister, I found that she could do some things according to my thoughts. So,

I asked him to kill the group of tomb robbers. Tonight, I am worried that you will find out the clues, so... I just want to be with her, even if she becomes like this... You,

Why do you have to investigate me?"

Mr. Julian asked with tears in his eyes, and Shade looked at him with a frown. Outsiders could not understand this way of thinking, and felt more and more that this person might really have a mental problem.

"Do you think this is a wake-up call? Your sister has already left, and you still want to desecrate her body? Are you sure you really like her?"

Iluna asked Mr. Julian in disbelief. The latter covered his face in pain, and tears filled his eyes:

"I know I shouldn't disturb the deceased. But when I'm alive, I can't marry her anyway, so at least I can give her a home after she dies. I know we are brother and sister, but I really want to find a way

Across blood, across life and death...I didn't do anything wrong, it was really just because of love. I don't want to harm anyone, I just...want to be with her, even in this way

Way."

Hearing the word "love", Iluna showed an expression of disgust on her face:

"All mortals are mortal, and you have blasphemed death. Julian, don't talk so nicely, what kind of love? This is obviously to satisfy your own despicable and dirty thoughts."

She is really angry now, but she still knows that she must deal with this matter first:

"Detective, I don't know what kind of relic "Guro Winston Marriage Contract" is, but judging from the characteristics I know so far, it is at least clerical level (level 4), and most likely it is keeper level (level 3).

, the church needs to recycle it.”

"Yes, so, where is the marriage certificate?"

Shade moved the muzzle of the gun that was pressed against Mr. Julian's temple, and the latter sobbed and said:

"Don't kill me. The marriage document is in the basement, soaked in a vat of blood. The marriage document was originally only for the living. It was meant to be used by the departed. This must be done in order to open the door to the world of the living and the dead for a long time.

, let her be with me forever. Even if she doesn’t seem to remember me.”

Shade regarded this as a "containment condition". Once the marriage certificate exerts its characteristics and connects the living and the dead without being contained in this way, the relics will get out of control.

"Cruel ritual... Do you think you awakened a living person?"

Iluna couldn't help but sarcastically said that she had never shown such anger even when facing Darkness.

After thinking for a while, she said to Shade:

"I can't kill this madman yet. Really, I originally wanted to try what the poet just described... Ahem, detective, the church still needs him to provide information about the origin of the relics. Moreover, for its own sake

For selfish reasons, he even teamed up with the body snatchers to desecrate the other two corpses and kill him directly, which would be too easy for him."

What she meant was that the two of them could not keep this relic. Shade agreed with this approach, after all, this was not his commission:

"I think the church will make a fair judgment."

The seventeen-year-old girl smiled slightly:

"Then you keep an eye on him here. I'll go to the basement first to erase the name on the marriage certificate to terminate the properties of the relic. Then I'll go back to the security company and get the clerical relic [The Beast Tamer's Memory Eraser Rod]. Tonight

Thank you so much for your hard work. I’ll treat you to dinner next time. I’m sorry for getting you involved in such a thing."

They can't let Toby Julian tell the church about Shade's information.

Shade nodded, and when he heard the word "amnestic erasure", Mr. Julian suddenly looked at the two of them in fear:

"You want to erase my memory."

"Don't worry, it's just a memory of tonight."

Iluna said, but added:

"But if there are no accidents, after this incident is over, the church will erase all your memories of the past few years, and then find you a place to live where you don't have to worry about food and drink. Of course, if it finally decides to sentence you to death, it won't be that troublesome.

Already..."

"No!"

The man suddenly shouted. Even though a revolver was pressed against his head, he was not frightened at all. He looked at Iluna with his eyes wide open angrily:

"No one can! No one can erase the memories between me and her."

"This man is hopeless."

Iluna said to Shade. Shade wanted to nod, but Mr. Julian suddenly raised his head. Bloodshot eyes spread into his eyes. Something was wrong with him:

"Kill me now!"

"That's not okay. I think it's better to leave the matter of your trial to the church. And since you signed the marriage contract, we can't guarantee what will happen if we kill you."

"Well, since you don't kill me..."

He rushed towards the corpse bride in front of the window. Shade flicked his finger, and the silver moonlight flew out, cutting off half of the sole of his right foot. The man who was almost thirty years old fell down in pain.

On the ground.

"Although I won't kill you, I can't let you get hurt. Sir, I advise you not to move around. I will treat your injuries, and the church will give you a fair judgment."

Shade took out the empty test tube from his pocket and shook it while walking towards the other party:

"People always have to pay a price."

The lying man struggled to sit up with the support of his palms. His face was pale because of the severe pain, but the distortion of his face was probably not only due to physical pain, but also because he was affected by the relic:

"No one can erase the memory of me and her!"

Mr. Julian actually pulled out a short knife from his pocket, held the handle of the knife behind his back, and stabbed it neatly into the heart.

Shade took two quick steps and pulled out the dagger, which again aggravated the injury. The clothes around Mr. Julian's heart were dyed red almost instantly:

"A little common sense, even if the heart is stabbed directly, a person will not die instantly. In the story, the person who does this can at least say 'the murderer is' before dying."

Shade bent down and put his hand on the man's arm:

"False immortality."

The bleeding feet and heart stopped immediately. Although Mr. Julian was still seriously injured, his injuries seemed to have been fixed and did not worsen.

He looked up at Shade who stood up in fear and despair. Because of the light from the gas lamp above his head, the shadow covered the man on the ground:

"If I don't let you die, don't even think about dying."

he said softly.
