Chapter 435 [Can Skip] Light Green Lion Spirit
【No inspiration, two chapters over, forgive me!】
Moreover, as the progress of obtaining the scriptures progresses, the later you can feel that some trivial things encountered on the road to obtaining the scriptures are extremely terrifying, and the various problems encountered along the way also reveal more and more details.
All the eighty-one difficulties experienced were clearly arranged, and many difficulties and obstacles on the road were arranged by heaven or the West to interfere and block the spirit beasts or boys under their subordinates in order to make up for eighty-one difficulties.
Especially in the part of Taishang Laojun's spiritual cow descending to the earth, it is most obvious. The green cow monster only likes to eat oranges and does not want to eat Tang Sanzang's meat, but it still catches Tang Sanzang's master and disciple in the cave and locks up like completing a task. It can be seen that the gods have made good intentions in the path of Tang Sanzang's master and disciple to obtain the scriptures.
Therefore, it is not unreasonable to secretly replace the disobedient stone with the obedient Liu'er Mihou. From this perspective, even if the golden-winged Great Pear in Lion Camel Ridge is the Peng Demon King who became sworn brothers five hundred years ago, Liu'er Mihou would not know him. Therefore, these two conclusions complement each other, which not only explains why Sun Wukong and Dapeng did not recognize each other, but also illustrates the major reversal between Sun Wukong.
5. Which of these two opposing views is right and which one is wrong? But in fact, most people still don’t believe in the second statement. They believe that there is only one Sun Wukong from beginning to end, and the one who was destroyed should be the Liuer Mihou. Moreover, in Wu Chengen’s original work, there is no mention of giving up the truth and leaving the false, which only shows that Sun Wukong has completed the difficulty and finally returned to his master.
Moreover, the Monkey King, who was in his heyday, was unable to compete with the Tathagata Buddha. There is no reason for the Tathagata Buddha now, and there is no need to use this method to subdue the weakened Sun Wukong. Therefore, in fact, "the macaque exchanges for stone monkeys" is just the audience's imagination.
In fact, Sun Wukong's change in behavior or combat effectiveness was largely due to his gains of experience after experiencing some hardships and becoming more mature, which is also a certain degree of growth and transformation.
As he approached the journey of seeking scriptures in the West, everything he experienced along the way gave Sun Wukong a more thorough and clear idea. He learned to be kind, tolerant, to admit his mistakes, and know how to bow his head in time.
In fact, not only Sun Wukong, but also Tang Sanzang and his four men grew up to a greater or lesser extent, and they depended on each other and supported each other. From this we can see that there is a greater possibility that "this big roc is not the other big roc".
6. Summary. In fact, no matter whether Sun Wukong and Dapeng who wants to eat his master are old acquaintances, as long as the Golden-winged Dapeng marry the Peacock Princess in order to survive forever and harm Tang Sanzang, Sun Wukong will not show mercy to him.
The same is true for Dapeng. For his own benefit, he would also hurt Sun Wukong and his group. Just like the Bull Demon King who had a very good relationship with Sun Wukong back then, he would still turn against his son and old friends for his son.
Just as Sun Wukong said, when he was pressed on Wuzhishan, no friends had visited him. The brothers who had never met for five hundred years were indeed worse than before. What's more, this big roc is not the same!
besides!
If you are familiar with "Journey to the West", you will definitely find this phenomenon: among the forty or fifty monsters that Tang monk and his disciple encountered on the way to obtain the scriptures in the West, he encountered Manjushri Bodhisattva's mount twice, namely the Green Lion Spirit.
The first time was from the thirty-sixth chapters to the thirty-nineth chapters of Journey to the West. At that time, in order to avenge Manjushri Bodhisattva, Qing Lion became a Taoist priest in the lower realm and soaked the king of Wuji Kingdom in a well for three years. He transformed himself into a fake king of Wuji Kingdom.
The second time was from the 74th chapter to the 77th chapter of Journey to the West. At that time, the green lion and the white elephant and the big Peng formed three brothers and wanted to deal with Sun Wukong. Later, Tang Monk was captured, and Sun Wukong thought he had been eaten by the big Peng, so he asked Tathagata to settle the score. Tathagata sent someone to invite Manjushri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva subdued the white elephant and the green lion, and he also accepted the big Peng.
It is normal for the first time that the Green Lion Spirit comes down from the realm. After all, many monsters come down from Buddhism or heaven, such as Kui Mulang, Jade Rabbit Spirit, Golden Retriever Monster, Huangfeng Monster, etc. However, the only monsters in the lower world in the realm twice were the Green Lion Spirit, which is very strange.
In addition to this, there are even more strange things.
For example, on the Lion Camel Ridge, the Green Lion Spirit did not know Sun Wukong at all. You should know that he had fought with Wukong in the first time in the world, and was Sun Wukong's defeated general. When he met for the second time, how could he not know Sun Wukong?
In addition, the image of the Green Lion Spirit has also changed. The first time he had no weapons, he just temporarily pulled a knife from the waist of the general of the palace, fought with Sun Wukong, and was defeated after several rounds. The second time, he actually used a knife to fight Sun Wukong with both hands. After twenty rounds, he still could not distinguish between winning or losing.
What's going on? There are many versions of Journey to the West, but none of them mentioned this issue.
Some people say that the green lions in front and behind are the same. For example, Huang Zhouxing of the Qing Dynasty said in the Book of Journey to the West.
The green lion of Manjushri is the Quanzhen of the Black Chicken Kingdom in the past... However, when he was in the Black Chicken Kingdom, he didn't hear that he had a hand that cut people and a mouth that swallowed people. But he suddenly roared and rallied, and could not be approached. Isn't it like a soldier who has been in three days to treat each other with admiration? When the protagonist of the soldiers arrived, he still couldn't avoid the appearance of his true nature. The so-called "it's not worth half a penny again"!
In Huang Zhouxing's view, the two green lions were the same. The reason why the later green lions had great skills was because "the scholars had seen each other with admiration after three days of separation."
Some people also say that there are two green lion spirits, which are different from the previous ones, so their abilities and images are different. But from the original work of Journey to the West, Manjushri Bodhisattva never said this, and Sun Wukong did not say it. Moreover, no god has two mounts, and they are all from the same type of animals.
I personally think that what Hou Hui said about "the plot of "the savior of the Wuji Kingdom is to get up late" is quite reasonable.
Hou Hui was mainly engaged in literary teaching and scientific research in the Ming and Qing dynasties, focusing on the study of vernacular novels. Although he spoke in some aspects in some aspects - for example, he believed that the stories of Lutijie's punching Zhenguanxi, Wu Song, Lin Chong and other in Chinese textbooks were very violent and bloody and should be deleted, but he had quite accomplished in the study of classical novels.
For example, in his "New Certificate of the Origin of Water Margin", he believes that the story of Lin Chong belongs to Hou Zeng, which is consistent with Nie Gannu's conclusion. In addition, he also studies Journey to the West and Dream of the Red Chamber.
Later, I think that the story of Wuji Kingdom was added later, and it was suspected of making up the numbers, not written by Wu Chengen. It was precisely because he got up late that the Green Lion Spirit appeared twice, and the image was very different.
Why do you say so? There are mainly the following reasons.
First, the story is abnormal.
There are 41 stories on the way to obtain the scriptures in the West. Basically, Tang Monk was threatened, such as being caught by monsters and eating meat, or being caught by female fairies and forced to get married, and then Sun Wukong had to subdue demons and eliminate demons.
Even if there are monsters who are not interested in Tang Monk's flesh, Tang Monk cannot let it go. For example, Kui Mulang is not interested in Tang Monk, but because of the shame of flowers, and later Kui Mulang turned Tang Monk into a tiger spirit, when Bajie Sha Monk could not beat Kui Mulang, Xiao Bailong would ask Bajie to invite Sun Wukong to come.
However, the story of Wuji Kingdom is not the case. The Green Lion Spirit is entirely to avenge Manjushri Bodhisattva. It is a rude male lion. It neither threatens the queen nor does it really occupy Wuji Kingdom. However, Tang Monk instigated Wukong to save the king and seek justice for the king, which seemed a bit meddling.
Moreover, this story is apart from the main theme of the scriptures, and has nothing to do with the scriptures, and it is not a disaster for Tang Monk.
Second, the image of the green lion has changed drastically.
The green lion not only lowered the world twice, but also changed its image greatly.
The first time, his martial arts skills were low, and he was defeated by Wukong in just a few rounds, and he didn't even have any weapons. The second time, he not only had a handy weapon, but also made great progress in martial arts. He could fight Wukong for dozens of rounds without any victory or defeat, but also had great powers - he could swallow Sun Wukong with his mouth open.
The Great Plug was coveting the flesh of Tang Monk, but was afraid of Sun Wukong, so he found the Green Lion and the White Elephant to become sworn brothers. From this point of view, the Green Lion Spirit was obviously outstanding as the boss of the three demons of the Lion Camel Ridge. The ability and background may be only one aspect, otherwise the Great Plug would not be likely to obey him.
Third, the language styles are different.
In the story of Wuji Kingdom, the author prefers parallel prose. In fact, in other stories, the author also likes to use parallel prose, but at least it is normal for dialogue and narrative, and it is not so "lost the book bag". However, in the story of Wuji Kingdom, not only does it have more parallel prose in narratives, but even dialogue uses parallel prose.
The prince kowtowed and said, "Mother, I ask you: Who is the one who ascended the throne? Who is called the lonely and widowed fruit?" Sanzang said, "That monster has great magical powers and has become the same as you; all the civil and military officials in the court have a harmonious and harmonious heart; the concubines in the three palaces have a close relationship." The traveler said, "... He sleeps with the concubines in the three palaces and enjoys the two groups of civil and military officials. My old grandson has the ability to hold him, and it is difficult to convict him."
Look, when the prince asked his father who he was, he had to say parallel prose. Tang Monk also used parallel prose when he spoke. Even Sun Wukong, who was quick to speak, had parallel prose when speaking. This is very different from the story before and after.
Hou Hui also analyzed from the perspective of poetry and prose. In the whole book (except for the third chapter of Wuji Kingdom), Wu Chengen wrote 283 seven-character poems, and only 11 were used in miscellaneous words. However, among the 15 seven-character poems in Wuji Kingdom, there are 7 miscellaneous words. The ratio of the two is completely different.
There are eighty-one difficulties in obtaining the scriptures, but there are only more than 40 stories and monsters. So when encountering some big monsters, the author will write a few chapters, which will then be counted as three or four difficulties. However, in Wuji Kingdom, the stories with three chapters are only counted as one in the book of eighty-one difficulties.
In addition, Hou Hui also verified the "Wuji Kingdom Story" from the story of Tang Monk, which is a long time since it has nothing to do with the green lion, and due to the limited space, I won't talk about it. If you are interested, you can go and have a look.
Anyway, this story is quite strange and out of place with the overall situation.
