Chapter 73: Rebuilding a country (I)(2/2)

Winters held a plenary meeting at the siege camp, mainly to meet people and discuss how to deal with Maple Leaf Castle.

A map table occupies the main space in the tent, and the participants consciously occupy positions ranging from distance to distance around the map table according to their position.

The official officers of the Iron Peak County Army and the officers appointed by Winters rarely gathered together, and friendly officers who came to visit and study politely occupied a corner of the tent.

Even Andre, who ran to the suburbs' horse farm whenever he had time, rarely appeared in the venue.

After listening to the explanation, Andrey laughed in silence: "Will that Unionist in Maple Leaf Castle still dream of 'surrendering with dignity'?"

Major Seber bared his teeth: "Then... he is a little shameless."

In name, it was a plenary meeting, but in fact it was just a person at the level of a civil servant and a school official who dared to speak. Many people were called over in a daze, and they were not even sure about the specific situation.

So Mason told the officers who were listening in a gentle voice that the solution was made: "There are tens of thousands of kilograms of gunpowder stored in Maple Leaf Fort. If we first propose to allow them to surrender, Major Felt will definitely put the 'gunpowder' on the negotiating table. This is another reason why the Montanebo civilians and I decided to wait until they voluntarily propose to surrender in addition to practicing the siege tactics."

"That's hard to deal with. This Unionist is quite tenacious." Andre frowned: "Or let him get out, as he doesn't know he can't cause any storm."

"The old marshal said that officers, like war horses, gunpowder and armor, are precious war resources and cannot be wasted." Winters pondered, held his jaw and laughed: "To be honest, Major Ald Felt really has some ability... so, I don't want to let him go."

The officers in the tent also burst into laughter.

In the corner, a Baishan County honorary officer who was listening to the scene raised his hand and asked: "Your Excellency, why can't you go directly into it? Maple Leaf Fort has been almost demolished?"

"Because warriors are also valuable resources for war and even more valuable resources." Winters looked around his subordinates and replied seriously: "So, we cannot waste it... Each of you will remember this for me."

The tent calmed down for a moment, and the honorary officer who asked the question shuddered unconsciously.

The officer meeting was held this time mainly because Winters wanted to meet his subordinates and stabilize the morale of the army that might have fluctuated due to the upcoming conference of the Liberals.

Discussion on the disposal of Maple Leaf Castle is secondary, because Winters himself will eventually make a decision.

Seeing that the atmosphere became a little stiff, Mason ended the discussion on the siege of Maple Leaf Fort and guided the officers to the place where the dinner party was held.

After everyone else was exposed, Mason returned to the tent.

"Oh." Mason packed the map on the table and complained: "Why are you angry with a guy who bought an official?"

"Get angry?" Winters was stunned: "Did I lose my temper?"

"Why didn't it?" Mason replied helplessly: "The 'wolf boys' are almost scared to death."

"What wolf cub?" Winters jumped up as if he was stabbed by a needle: "Who got it?"

"Everyone calls that." Mason waved his hand: "Okay, okay, you don't want to listen, I won't use it in the future."

After a while, the two of them put away all the maps in the tent.

"If it really doesn't work, let him get out." Winters stood for a moment and laughed: "Although they are all precious, our soldiers are much more precious than Major Felt."

"Okay." Mason nodded: "I'll send someone to talk to Major Felt tomorrow."

"Don't be so anxious. It's been so long, it's not a day." Winters rubbed the stubble on his jaw and asked, "I seemed to have someone look for it before. Are there any veterans who know the internal situation of Maple Leaf Fort? It seems...is that's true?"

"Yes." Mason folded the map table again and placed it in the corner of the tent. He glanced at Winters and blamed him, "Have you forgotten it yourself?"

Mason walked into the filing cabinet on the other side of the big tent, searched for it briefly, then returned with a paper bag, and handed it to Winters: "Give it."

Winters unexplained the files in the paper bag and pulled out the files, which were actually multiple inquiry records, all about Maple Leaf Fort, including both inquiry records from officers and soldiers.

"Senior." Winters said sincerely: "How can I live without you?"

A cold snorted without any trust in Mason's nose floated deep into his nose.

Winters pulled out his chair and sat at the door of the tent and looked up.

"But nothing special." Mason stood beside him, recalled the contents in the file, and briefly described Winters: "The internal management of Maple Leaf Fort is very strict, and the supervision of the underground storage is the top priority. Even officers are not allowed to move around at will, and the soldiers can know even less."

When Winters heard this, he simply stuffed the file back into the paper bag: "Isn't anyone in Maple Stone City knowing about the situation in Maple Leaf Castle?"

"If you want to say, there is really someone who knows the internal structure of Maple Leaf Castle best." Mason rubbed his forehead and brought out the memory he needed: "That is the chief 'stonemason' responsible for daily maintenance of Maple Leaf Castle, Marbru Feigni - Old Feigni."

Winters' eyes lit up instantly.

Mason deliberately caught Winters' appetite for a while, and then added: "But Major Felt was very careful. After escaping back to Maple Leaf Fort, he immediately took the old Feigni family into Maple Leaf Fort. He even burned the old Feigni's workshop - maybe he was worried that we would find the drawings."

Winters, full of anticipation, was instantly disappointed: "Then what's the use of saying so much...

"I'm happy." Mason smiled.

"Forget it." Winters stood up and stretched heavily: "Let's go for a dinner too."

He said with regret: "It seems that Major Felt is lucky this time."

"It's his turn to be lucky." Mason shrugged.

After saying that, the two looked at each other and laughed, walking towards the laughter and the smell of meat together.

Major Felt's doom should have ended here.
