Alexander's Memoirs - The Trailblazers Chapter 2 The cooks set off!

"Good morning, Captain."

Alexander said in a low and soft voice: "I will go around the camp first."

"Let's go after breakfast. I have repeatedly confirmed that the area is safe."

After the vigil plan arranged last night, the old man who was the captain actually made a personal inspection.

"It's okay. Let's eat together when the others wake up. I just happened to go wash my face." After saying that, Alexander turned and headed towards the direction of the creek.

Susie, the she-wolf lying next to Noli, let out a low whimper after Alexander jumped off the carriage.

Turning to look at her master, Susie stood up, stretched her wolf head out of the carriage, looked around, and then jumped out of the carriage.

After shaking her body, the sun shone through the gaps in the forest leaves and shone on her body, making her light blue hair shine.

The cry of her companion touched Noli's nerves, forcing her to wake up from a deep sleep.

Opening her eyes and getting up, Noli subconsciously pulled up the black cloak she was wearing when she fell asleep. Then she got out of the carriage while looking at the things outside the blinds with her blue eyes.

Freya, who was in the carriage with Alexander and Noli, had already woken up and had not opened her eyes before.

The two of them had already left the carriage, and she still didn't recall anything.

Finally, after looking at his spare clothes and thinking again and again, he decided to put away the elegant dress covering his body and the jewelry on his wrists first.

"I don't know when I can put it on again..." Freya left the carriage with some back pain - all the straw was used to feed the horses, and she could only sleep on the wooden board. Of course, even so, it was better than Cong Lin's.

The ground is much better.

The man named Sherlock also opened his eyes in a daze, and the dazzling sunlight shone in through the gap in the blackout curtain of another carriage.

"Huh? Is it already morning?" He muttered, picking up the gloves beside him and putting them on, and straightened his collar and the folds of his clothes.

Finally, he put on a black hat, picked up the soft sword and feather fan, and stepped out of the carriage.

Strictly speaking, these adventurers do not only have the memories of these three days. The body's instincts, the weapons and armor they carry, and the document. Therefore, the adventurers know very well what they are responsible for.

The captain stroked his beard, and the alluring aroma of meat was still filling everyone's noses.

Alexander held on to the tree beside him with one hand. Although he went to bed early last night due to fatigue and darkness, he had been thinking about it since he woke up.

In fact, this is almost the end of the stream. Because there is a one-foot drop, otherwise the flow speed and depth at this time would not be enough to make the sound of water.

Judging from the exposed stone walls on both sides of the stream, this stream used to have more water. It is from here that the stream water can no longer cover the large rocks at the bottom of the stream, and gradually can only slowly die between the cracks in the rocks.

.

A few dozen steps back upstream, the stream was crystal clear, making fishing impossible. After the observation, Alexander returned to his original position, took another look at the camp, squatted down, and began to wash his face.

Looking back at the camp, the blue-haired female wolf stood beside the carriage, turning her head from time to time to look at her master and the place where the smell of meat came from.

Freya remembered that according to the rule of the past three days, it was time for breakfast, so she walked past Noli, who had her eyes closed for some reason, and walked towards the dining place while tidying up her appearance.

After concentrating her energy, Noli slowly opened her eyes, then waved to Susie with a smile, "Wait a minute, dinner will be served soon." Then Susie stood in front of the master, blinking her big eyes and flaring her nose and sniffing.

Smelling the alluring scent of meat, she rubbed Noli's feet affectionately.

Noli knelt down and touched Susie's neck, then took her to sit down next to the campfire and waited for other travelers.

"It smells so good, let's eat and eat!" Sherlock, who was the last to leave the carriage, smelled the aroma and walked over quickly.

Noli said good morning to the captain. Freya beside her lifted her hair and covered her head, not knowing what she was thinking.

Being attracted by the aroma of food seemed to make Susie a little restless, but seeing that her master didn't move, she still lay quietly at Nolly's feet.

When there were only a few steps left, Sherlock began to walk slowly to the campfire, raised his hand and said hello, "Hey, good morning, what's your name? Noni?"

"Good morning, you can call me Noli. What do you call me?" Noli didn't remember that this person had introduced himself before.

"My name is Sherlock, you can call me Lord Sherlock!" The man's tone was frivolous, but he didn't seem to have any ill intentions, maybe he was just a stinker.

"Okay, Mr. Sherlock." Nolly said, not forgetting to stretch out her hand to smooth Susie's hair.

"It's not sir, it's your lord!" Sherlock muttered a few times, and then shouted loudly, regardless of the night watchman sleeping, "Captain, can you eat it?"

"Well, then sir... or sir, why do you insist on calling me so?" Freya, who had been silent before, turned her head and looked at the campfire.

"I don't know either, I just know that it would be pleasant to call him this!" Sherlock nodded with satisfaction.

Freya frowned slightly, but then returned to her usual smile, "What an interesting idea."

At this time, all the adventurers except Alexander had gathered around the campfire.

"It will be ready soon, just wait a moment." After the captain said to the adventurers, he stuffed the documents into his coarse cloth bag, then picked up the spoon on the campfire stone and started stirring.

The captain took breakfast very seriously. He sprinkled some coarse salt with his other hand and stirred it very evenly. The aroma accompanied by the stirring action stimulated the stomachs of the adventurers even more.

Alexander finished washing his face by the stream. The cold stream water dispelled the remaining sleepiness, but the sound of something scratching through the grass blades came from the grass behind him.

Alexander immediately put his hands on the bow and arrows, and at the same time turned to face the direction of the sound.

It was a python with a green body but a red head. It was burrowing into the bushes in front of it. It was probably a venomous snake.

Before Alexander could finish unhooking the arrow, the python had already burrowed into the bush, and finally, following his instinct, Alexander shot the arrow.

With a whoosh, the arrow penetrated the bush and hit the ground. Judging from the sound, it missed. "Ah, I was impulsive. Lunch ran away and it was a waste of an arrow." Alexander gave up with a little regret.

He recovered the arrow, took one last look around, and returned to the camp.

Alexander walked back to the campfire and sat down: "Good morning, everyone. Just in case you still remember my name."

"Well, you are Alexander Johnson, I still remember." Nolly nodded.

"Ouch!" As the food was stirred for a long time, the richer meaty aroma stimulated Susie's keen sense of smell. As if she realized that breakfast was almost ready, Susie straightened her limbs and stood up.

"Be good, you'll be fine soon." Because she was afraid of Susie running away, Noli's eyes never left when she said hello. Thanks to this, a gust of wind blew by at this time, causing the flames to dance and almost burn her.

Sophie's hair.

"Ouch!" Susie's figure moved suddenly, as if she wanted to run out, but this humane wolf just heard the owner's instructions, and suppressed its hunger, and stood obediently beside the owner.

"It's done." The captain put the spoon down, and the handle of the spoon made a crisp sound when it touched the clay pot. Then the captain got up and went to get the bowl, spoon, knife and fork.

"I think we'd better leave as soon as we finish eating. I just saw a venomous snake nearby." Alexander followed and walked over to help the captain carry the bowl of soup.

"Even if we are about to set off, the last food reserves have been consumed if we don't collect them as soon as possible." The captain was a little worried, and wrinkles gathered at the corners of his eyes.

Bowl after bowl of broth was distributed in front of the adventurers, including the captain himself. It looked like he was specially waiting for the adventurers to eat together.

Probably those who are going to bed now and some of the soldiers who are still on guard have already had breakfast.

"Then I think we can hunt around here first. Since there is water and snakes, there should be something else. I hope we still remember clearly what to do." Alexander was the last one to take the bowl and said.

"I agree with Alexander's suggestion. I can help with the hunting work." Freya subconsciously looked at the throwing knife bag in her arms.

"Thank you." Noli took the broth, picked out a large piece of meat and blew it into the bowl in front of Susie.

"Ouch!" The female wolf rubbed her owner's feet affectionately again, then stretched out her forelimbs to press the bowl, biting and swallowing her food with her sharp wolf teeth, making a deep guttural sound.

"Captain, don't you want to eat?" For some reason, Sherlock was a little wary and asked while holding the bowl.

"Why are you so anxious? The soup that was just made is still very hot." The captain continued, "I have something to ask of you."

"Please speak." Alexander put down the bowl and looked at the captain.

"While we are waiting for a while, it would be better to talk to you about the current situation of the jungle." After saying that, he turned his attention to the four adventurers and looked into their eyes one after another without any concealment.

, and this should not be something adventurers should consider.

"Be good, Susie." Nolly whispered to the smart wolf, blowing the soup gently and listening to the old man's words quietly.

Alexander held the broth and stared at the captain, waiting for his next words. Alexander felt that the captain's eyes were very sincere, but also a little unquestionable. Maybe this was also a kind of momentum.

"Tell me, tell me." Sherlock said carelessly.

"Open up, I think the destination of our mission is probably this jungle. The ten soldiers who follow me, the five craftsmen, and then everyone here."

At this time, Susie had already devoured the meat and returned to her previous quiet and well-behaved posture. She lay lazily at her master's feet and accepted his touch. A pair of green eyes moved slightly.

He looked at the humans in front of him curiously.

"According to the agreement, you have completed half of the task. And you will need a lot of supplies to return to Duer Town. The five craftsmen entrusted with protection each have their own responsibilities, which include most of the elements for establishing a small village."

The captain took out the kettle and took a sip of water: "Before the camp is completely stabilized, I hope you can help collect necessary survival supplies and explore the jungle. The carriages and horses that are necessary for the return journey will be regarded as extra rewards and are yours.

Everything."

The captain paused and continued: "And if there is no carriage, you will definitely not be able to cross that wilderness."

"No problem, I will do my best to help the Blazers gain a foothold here." Alexander expressed his opinion.

"It seems that we are being asked to stay...?" Freya thought and frowned.

Noli believed that this was indeed the case. She held the bowl with one hand and continued to stroke Susie's raised head with the other hand. She began to recall the specific content of the writing commission and the remuneration...

This part of the memory is still very clear. It is true that there is no such thing as exploring the jungle. Maybe the original reward has been paid long ago but I just can’t remember it... It’s not bad now that there are additional rewards.

"Forget it, my fate is like this... Fool, I can't even remember what happened before, so why talk about the past? Just worry about the present." Noli listened quietly to the old man's speech, feeling a lot in her heart, and by the way

A little soup was in the bowl at her feet to see if Susie was interested.

"Ouch!" She growled in a low voice, and Susie licked the soup bowl handed over by her master.

Alexander took a sip from the soup bowl and swallowed another piece of minced meat: "I think this area should be suitable as a temporary foothold. At least there is water to wash your face and make food. Many animals may also drink water upstream and downstream, so this is temporary food.

The source is not a big problem either.”

Freya hadn't raised the bowl yet and asked for details, "Well, I have no objection. But regarding exploration, can you set a specific scope first?"

It was not a good idea to walk through the jungle in an unfamiliar place. Noli also decided to stay for the time being, but still did not speak.

"We stayed here for half a month and then headed deeper. There are too few food sources here, not many herbs grow, and the view is very poor. And it is certain that there are people other than us in this forest.

"

The captain sounded affirmative at first, then hesitated slightly: "Maybe the first or second pioneer team."

"Are there any signs of their activity?" Alexander narrowed his eyes and drank the soup.

The captain didn't finish his words, he reached out to pick up the soup and took a sip.

"Aborigines... or bandits?" Seeing this, Noli touched Susie's hair and said to herself, but this was actually unlikely to be a bandit.

"The scope is too vague." Freya frowned.

"Rough roads, no matter how simple they are, were built by people. Although I don't know who it is, I should be wary." The captain lowered his head and took another sip of soup.

"Yes, and I don't know if they have lost their memory like us." Alexander put down the bowl.

"These can only be discussed after we have had enough food and drink. The soldiers have not found any prey nearby. If this continues, there will be no food to eat tomorrow." The captain pointed to the carriage where the supplies were stored.

"After dinner, let's explore upstream of the stream. We should be able to find something." Alexander took out a towel from his shoulder bag, wiped his mouth and stuffed it back, then put down the bowl, stood up and started to check the equipment.

Noli nodded in agreement.

"I'll leave it to you to explore the source of food. Of course, don't wait until the soup is cold before drinking it." The captain nodded and stopped talking.

While the others were talking, Susie had already finished licking the soup, and now she was back to her prone state.

Noli finished her meal as quickly as possible, packed her luggage, and looked at the surrounding terrain, waiting for her fellow travelers to get ready.

"Let's do this for now... This is not a place to stay for a long time." After thinking about it, Freya finished drinking the soup and took out her handkerchief to dry it before going to the stream to wash herself.

"Just leave it all to me!" Sherlock said nothing and waited for everyone to drink before he started to drink the soup.

Having said that, although there are not many ingredients, the cooking method makes the broth quite delicious.

After breakfast, the adventurers got ready to go.

"Captain, be careful. We are setting off. Don't let your guard down. There are probably a lot of venomous snakes around here." Alexander was the first to walk towards the passage.

Noli nodded and leaned down to communicate with Susie. "When you go shopping later, remember to be quiet and don't stay too far away. If you find anything, come back quickly." After whispering, Noli stood up and returned to the carriage to pick up her big car.

Jian, followed and came to the passage.

"Ouch?" Susie tilted her head, showing a confused look, but still followed Noli. After all, she was just a wolf, and she could only know the meaning of some relatively simple words but could not fully understand them.

"What do you think of the route?" Noli looked at the others.

"Well, if the terrain is like this... let me think about it." But before Freya could come to a conclusion, Alexander spoke.

"Let's go, first go upstream along the creek. At least there is a good chance of encountering a beast drinking water." This action suggestion is very pertinent.

Alexander holds a bow in one hand and is ready to hold an arrow in the other, intending to walk at the front of the team. Up to this point, he has the air of a leader, perhaps due to his personality.

"Then let's do it." Freya gave up thinking.

"It's up to me." Sherlock was the last one to stand in the passage. He didn't know why he curled his lips. He didn't know why he was unhappy.

"Then, if you don't have any other suggestions, just follow what Miss Johnson said."

After Noli finished speaking, Alexander walked to the creek and said at the same time: "Just call me Alexander."
