Chapter 1,077 The biggest surprise

The utensils from the Ru kiln collected by major museums at home and abroad are mainly washers, plates, cups, lamp holders, narcissus plates, bottles, etc., and occasionally vases, trays, etc.

In terms of size, there really is no such thing as too big or too big.

However, since the 2008 archaeological excavation of Qingliang Temple, the theory that the Ru kiln had no large vessels or that the Ru kiln was no larger than a foot has been shattered.

The 34.4 cm folded edge plate excavated by the Qingliang Temple archeology is evidence.

With the archaeological excavations in the new era, basins accounted for 3% of the artifacts unearthed from Ruguan kiln.

There are narcissus basins, open basins, lip basins, edge basins, etc.

Among them, open basins, lipped basins, and plate-rim basins all have a shape of more than one foot.

Therefore, the Ru kiln in the past did not have large utensils, and it became a thing of the past with the archaeological discoveries.

Since we are making big things, we naturally need to further process the raw materials.

Chen Wenzhe already knew the defects of the large Ru kiln ware before, and knew what to do to get the large ware.

As long as the porcelain clay and glaze are improved in a targeted manner, the biggest defect of the large Ru kiln can be solved.

Chen Wenzhe only does these things but does not say them, not because he is complacent and self-conscious, but because what he needs to understand can be understood by looking at it. If he cannot understand it, it is useless to talk about it.

If he didn't say anything, Zhang Gu would definitely be surprised, because he doesn't know much about Ru kiln porcelain, at least not as professional as Chen Wenzhe.

Therefore, he does not know whether the large Ru kiln products can enter the market and whether they will be accepted by the market.

"Boss, can this big plate really be successfully cooked?"

The first thing I made was the edge plate, which must be over 34 centimeters in size, which is definitely over a foot.

Seeing such a big plate, and it was made from Ru porcelain, if it was a high imitation of the Ruguan kiln in the Northern Song Dynasty, would this kind of porcelain be sold?

"Haha, you don't know much about Ru kiln porcelain!" Chen Wenzhe laughed.

"I only know something about the porcelain of the third and third dynasties of the Qing Dynasty!" Zhang Gu was stunned and said immediately.

Chen Wenzhe understood. No wonder he knew how to make flower vases, flower pouches, and flower arrangements, but he didn't know much about some ancient porcelain. He even didn't know how to make three-legged plates and three-legged washers.

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the most popular porcelain was various bottles, and the most common ones were bowls and plates. Who would go the extra mile and make a three-legged plate?

That's right, Zhang Gu did the right thing. After all, no one can learn all the porcelain shapes throughout the ages. After all, people's energy is limited.

At this point, no one can compare with Chen Wenzhe.

He directly cheated and gained other people's lifetime experience, so naturally he could learn as much as he could!

Now he is not only learning ancient times, but also modern scientific knowledge, and naturally he has memorized a lot of information.

He knows very well what are the large types of Ru kiln porcelain now.

What has been discovered so far is not only wine bottles, plates, but also some other large utensils.

"Have you ever heard of a large Ru kiln vessel that is 71 centimeters tall?"

The shape of the plate is too simple. After it is finished, there is no engraving, printing, or decals. It is directly glazed and then fired.

For Ru kiln plates, single-color glazed porcelain is best.

After finishing a large plate, Chen Wenzhe kept busy and planned to make a bigger one again!

"Seventy-one centimeters?" Zhang Gu stopped what he was doing in surprise.

"Yes, from Qingliang Temple!" Chen Wenzhe said with a smile.

The archaeological excavation of the Ru kiln site of Baofeng Qingliang Temple began in 1987, and by 1996, a total of six excavations were conducted.

It is not difficult to find mountains of porcelain shards in ceramic archeology, but finding complete vessels depends entirely on luck.

And it was in Qingliangsi Village that I discovered the biggest surprise.

The kiln site discovered at that time was very large. After archaeological drilling, the total area was 1.1 million square meters.

Through the identification of broken porcelain fragments, it was found that only private kilns were built here at first. It was not until the late Northern Song Dynasty that 4,800 square meters were set aside for official kilns. It was a comprehensive kiln site.

At the corner of a small workshop in the kiln factory, there is a small round pit less than one meter and fifty centimeters deep.

Archaeologists at that time found 22 complete ceramic vessels in it at one time, 8 of which were from Ruguan Kiln.

This major archaeological discovery led those archaeologists to write works such as "New Discovery of Ru Guan Kiln", "Ru Kiln in the Song Dynasty", and "Major Breakthrough in the Archeology of Ru Kiln".

It has overturned many conclusions in the appreciation of Ru porcelain in the past. The first one is about the color of the body of Ru porcelain.

In the past, Ruguan porcelain was regarded as having a gray body, but in the newly unearthed fragments of Ru porcelain, there are actually a small amount of gray bodies and gray-white bodies;

Also, in the past, it was generally believed that the porcelain used in the Ru Kiln palace paid attention to beautiful shapes, elegance and purity, and only the folk liked to carve and decorate it.

In fact, archeology has found that Ru porcelain from official kilns was also decorated with engravings, printings, attached lotus petals, and hollowed-out feet.

Just now, when Chen Wenzhe imitated the Ruguan kiln, he used engraving technology. If he had not known this, he would never have made such a low-level mistake.

In fact, if you think about it, it will be clear that although carvings, printings, lotus petals, perforated feet and other decorations come from the folk, the earliest Ru kiln was a folk kiln!

This shows that imperial porcelain also absorbed the decorative techniques of engraving, sealing, engraving, and engraving favored by the folk.

Finally, there is a record in the literature about the glaze color of Ru porcelain that "blue is the most precious, pink is the most precious, and sky blue is the most precious."

The newly unearthed physical specimens also include moon white, bean green, egg white, onion green, etc.

This has greatly enriched the previous understanding of the glaze colors of Ruguan kiln porcelain.

It was also through these studies that Chen Wenzhe determined that the color change of Ru kiln firing was not entirely due to the difference in glaze, but also partly, or even mostly, due to the firing conditions.

Even if there is no cheating method, just by analyzing the ruins of Ru Kiln, modern scientific researchers can determine that the glaze color of Ru Kiln porcelain is mainly caused by the different positions and temperatures it receives when it is fired in the kiln.

It is not the so-called blue glaze on blue color or azure glaze on azure color.

The reason why sky blue is so precious is that only two or three of the hundred pieces produced will appear sky blue, and most of the others will be azure.

The white color of the moon is caused by being at the lowest temperature.

In addition, in the past, due to the limited collection of handed down items in museums, people believed that "Ru kilns do not have great ware".

The heights of the lotus petal aromatherapy stoves, crabapple-style multi-layered boxes, and lotus leaf-style high-circle foot vessels unearthed from Baofeng Qingliang Temple are all over 30 centimeters, which corrects people's misunderstandings.

In fact, as early as 2006, a 38-centimeter-high Ruguan kiln Guanyin vase appeared among the public.

The reason why it is said to be among the people here is mainly because at that time, no one believed that it was Ruguan kiln porcelain because it was too big.

Now, with the excavation of the Qingliang Temple site, the largest Ruguan kiln ever seen is a pair of flower-mouthed vases with a height of 71 cm.

Let’s not talk about other things, let’s talk about the number of Ruguan kilns now. It is generally believed that there are only 65 pieces of Ruguan kiln porcelain in existence.
