Chapter 1582: Unparalleled in Ancient and Modern Times
The same goes for the jade texture of glaze. Southerners call it thick, while northerners call it moist. The expressions are different.
In the appraisal of porcelain, there are many comprehensive factors that need to be considered, and the techniques involved are also diverse.
When you see a piece of porcelain, especially a good and valuable treasure, you must boldly verify it and observe it carefully.
Let’s talk about Ming Chenghua porcelain again. If the base and glaze are fine, then we need to identify the patterns.
Chenghua porcelain has slender and soft decorative lines, and the double-line outline and color filling method is often used, and the color filling is relatively dull.
The simple and elegant appearance of the blue and white flowers is like singing and dancing, and the painting is elegant and unrestrained.
The decoration of Chenghua doucai utensils pays attention to the combination of rich and dark colors, mainly flat paint, without distinguishing between yin and yang, and the picture lacks a sense of hierarchy.
Flowers and people's clothes are painted with flat paint.
Leaves and flowers are not divided into yin and yang.
The character's clothes are only painted in a single color coat, without underwear.
Therefore, there is a saying that "a piece of clothing is made from a kiln", and there is no sense of unevenness in the rocks.
If all of these are ok, then we come to the most important point, identifying the color materials.
In particular, Chenghua doucai porcelain uses a lot of color materials. If any kind of imitation is not good, it will be a huge flaw.
The color material of Chenghua porcelain in the Ming Dynasty must be "violet" and unique!
Chenghua colors have elegant color effects that are unparalleled in ancient and modern times.
The color characteristics are very obvious, bright red, as bright as blood, uneven thickness;
Goose yellow, delicate, transparent and shimmering green;
Apricot yellow, flashing reddish;
Water green, leaf green, mountain green, all transparent and slightly yellowish;
Beeswax yellow, slightly transparent;
dark ocher purple;
Ginger is dense and light;
Bright purple, dense and dull.
The "violet" color among the colors is unique, with a color like hematite and a dry and matte surface, making it difficult for future generations to imitate. It can be said to be the symbol of the Chenghua generation.
Especially on the Ming Chenghua Doucai Sanqiu Cup, the color of the butterfly is "violet".
Chen Wenzhe has made a lot of these. He can tell at a glance whether they are genuine or not, and what are the differences between them and the genuine Sanqiu Cup.
It was also because of this that he paid so much attention to the cup in his hand.
The reason is that he can't see any difference. If he only looks at the grease and glaze color on the outside, he will definitely think it is real at first sight!
Unfortunately, for a treasure like the Chenghua Sanqiu Cup of the Ming Dynasty, we must not only look at part of it, but also look at the whole thing.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have studied the bottom of a small bowl for a long time.
I checked the base, decoration, glaze color, texture, shape, etc., and found no problems.
Next, we need to continue to identify, which depends on the craftsmanship, especially the sand bottom of the Mingchenghua period utensils, because it is often brownish-yellow.
The Chenghua porcelain is neatly repaired and is a cutter-like object. Since it was made in sections at that time, tire marks can be seen on the abdomen.
Due to the very good craftsmanship during the Chenghua period, the welding marks on bottles, cans, pots and other cut objects are not obvious;
Plates often have collapsed bottoms, and bowls and plates have straighter and higher bottoms.
Official kiln blue and white porcelain can be divided into two types: glazed bottom and sand bottom.
Most of them are glazed. The glaze color at the bottom of the utensil is the same as the glaze color of the utensil body. The sand bottom is brownish yellow, commonly known as "Mihu bottom".
When you touch it with your hands, it feels warm, smooth and smooth without any roughness, which is the unique style of Chenghua official kiln wares.
The foot wall at the bottom of the artifact is narrow and the crest of the foot is round; yellow overflow can be seen where the footprints are exposed;
The inner glaze and bottom glaze of the utensil are smooth and delicate;
The outer wall of the foot is mostly surrounded by two or three string patterns, one is on top, and two are near the edge of the sole of the foot. The one near the base of the foot is deeper, and the one above is thicker.
The foot of the yellow-glazed bowl is straight and high, the foot wall is narrow, the crest of the foot is round, and yellow overflow can be seen where the footprints are exposed.
These characteristics are commonly found in Chenghua ware. Not to mention Dou Cai and Wucai porcelain, it shows that Chenghua blue and white porcelain also has these characteristics.
A blue and white gourd vase with entwining branches and lotus pattern that has been handed down to this day is the standard Mihu bottom.
At this point, almost all the features related to the sole have been covered.
There are almost twenty-five types of these characteristics, and the last one is style.
The designation of Ming Chenghua porcelain is still very meaningful, because its characteristics are easy to identify, that is, the iconic Chenghua style fertilizer.
There are two types of markings on official kiln porcelain from the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty, including the six-character mark "Ming Dynasty Chenghua Year System" and the mark "Heaven".
It should be noted here that in the entire Chenghua Dynasty, there is no "Chenghua Year System" inscription, and there are only regular script inscriptions and no seal script inscriptions.
The year mark of Chenghua official kiln porcelain is mainly in the form of a six-character double-line mark "Da Ming Chenghua Year System" in blue and white regular script, surrounded by a blue and white double circle or double square frame.
Of course, there are also very few without sidebars.
The location of the inscription is usually on the outer bottom of the object.
There are also six-character regular scripts written horizontally from right to left in blue and white materials.
Falling on the edge of the mouth of a plate or the inner edge of a goblet.
In addition, Chenghua colored porcelain is all blue and white.
The characteristic is that the font is deep and has no floating feeling.
The brushwork is vigorous and powerful, with a center stroke, thick strokes, and fat fonts, so it is called "Chenghua style fat".
The font is not strict and standardized, and seems to be written by a child, exuding a childish air.
The blueprint of the Chenghua official kiln's mark seems to have come from one person's hand, and it has not been imitated by previous generations.
The most important foundation is generally these twenty-five characteristics.
If you look at these twenty-five characteristics and there is no problem with the final identification, then the base of a piece of porcelain is at least authentic.
Chen Wenzhe had previously looked at the overall enamel, texture, patterns, and shape of the Sanqiu cup in his hand, and found that there were no problems.
Now that he has analyzed the soles and found no signs of fraud, he can be 100% sure that this is a genuine product.
It is used for collection or even for display in a museum, rather than being auctioned by an auction company.
Therefore, as long as he is sure that it is an authentic product and that it is in good condition.
This kind of exquisite porcelain is only displayed in a museum, so no one should find fault with it.
After all, it is not just a market, so there will be no interest entanglements with some people.
If this is the case, if someone else jumps out to oppose him, it must be a fake.
If they want to become famous for this, they are really crazy.
Now Chen Wenzhe is really not a nobody.
Although he may not be famous or known to the public.
However, he should know everything that should be known.
At the very least, the senior officials from Nanhai and Dahai City should know about him.
Therefore, Chen Wenzhe is really confident in developing in Dahai City.
In this way, no one can oppose him. As long as this Ming Chenghua Sanqiu Cup is kept in his family's museum for a period of time, it will be comparable to the Shendu Forbidden City and Wanwan Forbidden City.
Not to mention other things, just such a cup, when displayed in his museum, caused a sensation that was definitely no worse than a piece of gold-lined jade clothing.
Maybe the golden jade clothes are more famous in society, but within the industry, it is obvious that the rarer Sanqiu cups are more attractive.
