Chapter 1,692 Warring States Shadowless Lamp

In some cases, the transaction price of jade is not as high as that of crude stone. This is a fact.

However, you have to look at the circumstances. Can old antiques such as the Shang Dynasty stone frog be compared with ordinary jade?

However, some online platforms with ulterior motives now, in order to maximize their profits in the short term, will say that some stone carvings of art are more valuable than beautiful jade.

That’s a lie. It’s not that stone carving is inferior to jade, but you have to look at when the stone was carved and who carved it!

The Internet is a mixed place. Some people dare to say and do anything in order to defraud money.

"What else did you buy?"

Chen Wenzhe is the one who admires Cao Qingchun the most now. He didn't expect that he had only been back for a few months and this boy had already made so many good things.

"The main thing is that you are famous now. It is because of your name that I can buy so many things."

Cao Qingchun was not worried. He knew very well that if everyone didn't know that he was Chen Wenzhe's agent, how could so many people come to his door with good things?

For example, the Hanging Man Bronze Spear, can anyone buy this thing?

There are also that Wan Gong sedan chair. There are many rich people in Boning, Dahai City. If you just find one, you can sell it at a high price.

If it wasn't for Chen Wenzhe's name, why would they sell it to him, Cao Qingchun?

"The last three pieces. Look at this one. It should be a shadowless lamp from the Warring States Period. It's a very interesting thing."

"Shadowless lamp? This thing is not common!"

A wooden box was opened, and there was indeed an artifact made of bronze with various trays inside.

When Chen Wenzhe saw it, he knew that this was really a shadowless lamp.

He looked carefully and found that there was not much difference from the shadowless lamps previously unearthed in China.

In 1974, a farmer in Beihe, China accidentally discovered a tomb of the Warring States Period, and experts found a "shadowless lamp" inside.

In 1974, when farmers were collecting soil, they accidentally dug up the tomb of King Zhongshan.

This made the archaeological team very excited, but when they entered, they found that it was empty.

Disappointed and about to leave, a migrant worker suddenly fell into a side room and found countless treasures, including a copper lamp that was comparable to a modern shadowless lamp.

During the Warring States Period, the Zhongshan State was located at the eastern foot of the Taihang Mountains in what is now Beihe. It was established in 414 BC by the Xianyu tribe, a minority ethnic group in the north.

Although it is a small country with a small territory and few people, the fierce and aggressive ethnic minorities often cause headaches for Yan and Zhao.

After years of war, the Zhongshan Kingdom was destroyed by the Zhao Kingdom in 294 BC and lasted for 120 years.

The discovery of this tomb was accidental. In the winter of 1974, villagers of Sanji Village, Pingshan County, Hebei Province were collecting soil from two mountains in the village for construction work. They accidentally found some blue bricks and continued digging, and unexpectedly unearthed an ancient tomb.

After receiving the news, the municipal archaeological team immediately conducted rescue excavations.

This tomb is in the shape of a "middle" shape, with 6 burial pits, 3 carriage pits and 1 sacrifice pit, covering an area of more than 10,000 square meters.

There are steps, corridors, halls, and tombs in the tomb. The layout of the tomb is neat and solemn. After identification, it turned out to be the mausoleum of the king and queen of Zhongshan!

The archaeological team members were very excited and worked hard day and night to dig and clean up.

They thought they would harvest many cultural relics with research value, but to their disappointment, tomb robbers were rampant throughout the dynasties. The main tomb chamber and the burial pit had long been destroyed and stolen, and even the coffin of King Zhongshan was burned to ashes.

The team members were disappointed and sighed after only harvesting two round copper rings for hanging coffins.

Just as they were preparing to evacuate the tomb, they heard a scream.

It turned out that a migrant worker who came to help climbed up the side platform of the main tomb, but suddenly lost his footing and fell into a hidden tomb.

Everyone ran over to pull him, only to find that the tomb was not deep and was filled with all kinds of treasures!

It turns out that there are hidden warehouses for funerary objects on the left and right sides of the main tomb chamber.

Because it is not connected to the main tomb, it has escaped countless thefts over the past 2,000 years and has been preserved to this day.

The archaeological team members were stunned by the rich burial objects in front of them.

There are various bronzes, musical instruments, sculptures, jades, lacquerware, pottery and daily utensils, totaling more than 1,900 pieces.

Among them, there are 18 treasures that can be called national treasures, such as: gold, silver and copper rhinoceros screen seats, Zhongshan Wang round kettles, etc.

The archaeological team carefully moved all the artifacts. After cleaning them, there was a strange-looking lamp that attracted everyone's attention.

This lamp is shaped like a tree, with 14 branches extending out from the main trunk, symmetrical in pairs, and 15 copper lamp panels scattered on the top and branches of the tree.

Its base diameter is 26 cm and its height is 82.9 cm.

This is a "finished product" spliced together by the archaeological team, because when they were first unearthed, they were just a bunch of parts.

What is exquisite is that the splicing between each branch and the trunk is actually a mortise and tenon structure, and the shape of each tenon is different.

As long as you find the interface, you can install it perfectly. It has the simplicity of modern handicrafts, which is really amazing.

Three tigers holding rings in their mouths hold up a base with a Kui dragon pattern.

There is also a 24-character inscription on the base, describing the luxurious tomb scene of the royal residence in Zhongshan.

Not only that, on each branch, there are graceful dragons meandering and swimming, birds singing, and monkeys swinging, which are very lively and lively, and the workmanship is also very exquisite.

The archaeological team discovered that this lamp has another feature. If you want to adjust the brightness, you only need to increase or decrease the number of lamps.

Isn't this concept the same as the principle of modern parallel switch control?

In order to get a glimpse of the style of this copper lamp more than 2,000 years ago, the archaeological team prepared tung oil and wicks and lit them one by one.

At this time, an incredible scene appeared - there was no shadow under this copper lamp! This was an ancient shadowless lamp!

The experts present observed carefully and were amazed.

It turns out that skilled craftsmen in ancient times cleverly used the principle of shadow formation and elimination of light to design lamps at different heights and positions to eliminate shadows.

Anyone who has studied physics knows that placing a light source on one side of an object will cast a black shadow on the other side.

If there are light sources on both sides, the particularly dark superimposed part in the middle is called the umbra, and the surrounding shadows are slightly lighter.

If you continue to place light sources around the object, the umbra will become smaller and smaller. When all light sources are placed around the object and there is enough brightness, the umbra will be almost invisible. This is the principle of modern surgical shadowless lamps.

Therefore, if we look down from above, we will see that the lamp panel of this fifteen-piece copper lamp is evenly arranged from the inside to the outside.

This forms a large-area circular light source centered on the lamp post, and each branch is symmetrical.

This uses the principle of lever balance to keep the entire lamp in a wonderfully balanced and stable state.

As long as you understand this principle, it is not difficult to make a shadowless lamp, but you need to do some research.
