Chapter 429: Monks do not lie; they become consciousness-only theory
"I heard that there are images in the two instruments, which appear and cover them to contain life; they are invisible in the four seasons, hiding in the cold and heat to transform things. This is used to glimpse the sky and the earth, and all the mediocre and stupid know its end; the yin is bright and the yang is bright, and the sages are rare.
... I am ignorant of flowers and trees, but I am good at doing good. I have knowledge about human relations. I would rather not celebrate by celebrating. I hope that the true scriptures of Hebei will be spread, and the sun and the moon will be endless; the scenery and blessings will be in harmony with the universe.
Yongda is great!"
A sacred preface was sent to Hongfu Temple.
This is the "Preface to the Sacred Teachings of Tripitaka of the Tang Dynasty" written by the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty to congratulate Master Tripitaka on his return from the successful scripture study. It was written by the calligraphy master Chu Suiliang. Once it was sent to Hongfu Temple, the abbot of the temple summoned Huairen, the monk who was the number one scholar in the temple.
, and asked him to carve the inscription himself.
Master Tripitaka expressed support for this.
He also specially sent the Great Sage to find a good stone tablet. After it was formed, it was nine feet, four inches and six minutes high and four feet, two inches and four minutes wide.
It's just that Huairen has been observing Chu Suiliang's handwriting for a long time, but has yet to start construction.
Later, someone asked why. He said that although Chu Xianggong's calligraphy was exquisite,...
But what?
But the young monk hopes to engrave it in the calligraphy of the calligraphy sage Wang Youjun.
After hearing this, the emperor mobilized all Wang Xizhi's calligraphy in the palace and sent it to him for him to study carefully... and also sent a team of people to collect the ink among the people.
However, this method has limitations after all. Just in case, Huairen has prepared a record. If the calligraphy cannot be collected, the inscription will be carved in Chu Suiliang's calligraphy.
Of course, he didn't dare to say this.
Li Shimin was unable to leave the palace that day, so he sent his third son, King Wu Li Ke, and his fourth son, King Li Tai of Wei, to invite Master Tripitaka to Ci'en Temple.
It's interesting to say that these two were also Li Shimin's former candidates for the crown prince.
Wu King Li Ke, because his mother-in-law was the daughter of Emperor Yang of Sui Dynasty, was therefore a concubine prince... With several legitimate brothers still alive, it was not that difficult to win the crown prince position;
As for the King of Wei, Li Tai...it was also the time when he and the former Crown Prince Li Chengqian were competing for the title of heir, and the two sides were incompatible with each other, almost to the point of fighting to the death. Only then did Li Shimin become ruthless and exclude them both.
In the end, the crown prince's position fell to Jin Wang Li Zhi, who always "did not fight for it".
Li Ke was not dissatisfied with this result. After all, this position was not something he could easily covet. And Li Zhi's two direct brothers had nothing to say about this. First, although the two of them were fighting to the death, they were relatively weak.
Speaking of which, the relationship with Li Zhi needs to be gentler and closer... In addition, there is only one person in the Tang Dynasty who has the final say.
The matter has become a foregone conclusion, even if you are unwilling to do so, you will not dare to act rashly.
Moreover...it was their uncle Changsun Wuji who publicly expressed his support for Li Zhi that made Li Shimin really make up his mind.
Li Shimin and Changsun Wuji have reached a consensus, so there will be almost no objections in the court... As for the generals, a wave of those who rebelled have already died, and the remaining ones naturally protect themselves wisely. Who can
It doesn't matter if you are the emperor... Anyway, most generals' skills are on the battlefield, and they don't understand the affairs of the court.
And those who can understand the game will naturally not stand up for themselves.
Empress Changsun once said to Li Shimin: "The pheasant slave is cowardly. In the future, he may do benevolent deeds and do good government... But he is still young after all, and I am afraid that his wings will not be full."
Li Shimin naturally knew the implication of Queen Changsun's words. She was simply worried that a hundred years later, Li Zhi would be coerced by powerful ministers like Changsun Wuji.
But it doesn't matter, as a father, he will naturally teach him step by step how to be a qualified emperor.
They say that the Tian family is ruthless, but this is not necessarily true.
At least now, the two princes suddenly lost their composure when they saw their eldest brother dressed as a bald monk.
Li Ke was a little more restrained and tilted his head to keep his eyes away from his elder brother as much as possible. But looking at his clenched fists and the corners of his mouth that were constantly twitching, you knew that... he had been working very hard to keep thinking in his mind.
It's the saddest thing I've ever experienced.
But Li Tai, who had long been at odds with his eldest brother, had no scruples. He pointed at his eldest brother who was cleaning fallen leaves in the yard with a broom and laughed——
But smiling, smiling...he couldn't laugh.
I don't know why, but I feel no joy at all at this moment, but instead feel a little sad.
Perhaps influenced by Li Tai's emotions, Li Ke also looked at his eldest brother with concern, and asked with concern: "Why does eldest brother look like this?"
On the contrary, Li Chengqian was very calm. Facing the sudden arrival of his two younger brothers, he did not do anything rude except for having trouble with his legs and feet. After listening to his third brother Li Ke's inquiry, he stopped his work for a moment and smiled.
Then he responded: "As you can see, now the young monk has worshiped Master Tripitaka and entered Buddhism. I will no longer pay attention to worldly affairs and all the chaos of the world will no longer disturb my heart... Amitabha."
Li Ke was immediately respectful after hearing this. He did not doubt his elder brother's words. Li Tai was different. The two brothers knew the truth and could not hide it from the other. They directly questioned: "Is it true? I don't believe it."
"Monks don't lie." Li Chengqian looked pious, as if he had really seen through the world of mortals.
The Great Sage, who had returned some time earlier, heard this and said, "Your Highness seems... not a monk."
After hearing this, Li Chengqian laughed and said, "Oh? Isn't that just right?"
Li Ke and Li Tai were stunned for a moment and then reacted for a moment before they figured out what their elder brother said... It's not just monks who can tell lies, right?
Were you just entertaining the two of us?
"My master is translating scriptures. I wonder why your two highnesses are here?" The great sage paid no attention to this highness who was temporarily practicing with the master. He had piercing eyes and a delicate heart, so he could naturally tell.
His Highness is full of duplicity.
This chapter is not over yet, please click on the next page to continue reading! Using Master’s previous evaluation: Suffering may knock people down, but if it’s the other way around, if people overcome suffering, they will eventually achieve something...
His Highness is currently in a critical period of fighting "suffering". Although the success or failure has not yet been determined...but his city has now significantly improved during the struggle.
But those two sentences just now... seem to have a cunning air of a monk.
Li Ke and Li Tai also remembered that business was coming, and said to the Great Sage: "Great Sage, my father asked my two brothers to ask Master Sanzang to move to Ci'en Temple and choose a day to enthrone."
"Your Highnesses, please wait a moment. I, Old Sun, will go to report first."
After the great sage entered the meditation room.
Li Taicai approached Li Chengqian and asked curiously: "Eldest brother has always been confined in the palace... Is it the father's will for you to become a monk?"
"Yes." Li Chengqian nodded and said something else: "My father personally sent me here this morning, and my father shaved off these troublesome silk threads himself... It was just after noon, so I asked you two to come here."
Wow...tsk, my father is killing the chicken to scare the monkeys."
"Then why did the Great Sage say that my eldest brother is not a monk yet?" Li Ke was quite concerned about this point.
"Because..." Li Chengqian began to express himself freely, "because Master Sanzang said that my six roots are impure. Even if I shave my head, I can't be a monk..."
"Ah this..." Li Tai thought for a moment and realized that his elder brother was talking nonsense, so he followed suit and said: "If you can't be a monk, you can also become a Taoist priest... Why should elder brother only focus on this one thing?"
road?"
Not to mention, after Li Chengqian heard this, he seriously thought about it in his heart. It was not impossible.
Moreover, when my grandfather Gaozu proclaimed himself emperor, he posthumously recognized Laozi Li Er as his ancestor, and even designated Taoism as the state religion... After his hair grew back, he went to Taishi Ling for advice.
What does it mean to be an emperor?
Let Lao Jiu enjoy the supreme wealth in the world by himself. Brother, I am going to cultivate immortality.
In fact, Li Chengqian's previous statement that he wanted to become a disciple of Master Tripitaka was not nonsense, but his words were slightly different.
Not long after his father left, Li Chengqian was about to escape, but before he could leave the temple, he was sneaked back by the Great Sage.
Then he said that he did not run because of inconvenience in his legs and feet, and then he proposed that he would practice with Master Tripitaka, hoping that one day his leg disease could return to normal... Master Tripitaka did not refuse, but he did not agree immediately.
.
I just said that I would wait until these eight days have passed before making a decision.
This is one of the reasons why Li Chengqian can honestly sweep the yard with a broom. He is by no means a peaceful master, at least not the superficial deferential person he showed in front of Master Sanzang.
When they learned that Master Tripitaka was going to take over Ci'en Temple, the monks of Hongfu Temple were reluctant to leave. They then took Master Tripitaka to Ci'en Temple and then said goodbye.
But in the future, Ci'en Temple will be opened. If they want to come, naturally there won't be so many restrictions.
Master Tripitaka's disciples before they were studying for scriptures had been given a special order by His Majesty to transfer them to Ci'en Temple to practice together, so they stayed here directly... When these monks heard the news, they all moved towards the palace for a while.
bow down.
What is gratitude?
Of course, Fahai was happy to accept this, as it was better than becoming the abbot alone... Although he didn't think that the newly recruited monks in the temple would be obedient to him, it would be easier if there were acquaintances available.
Fahai translated scriptures very quickly.
Li Chengqian has also been very honest these days.
For unknown reasons, after Li Ke and Li Tai returned to the palace, they also came to Ci'en Temple again to do odd jobs for the emperor's uncle... Li Chengqian took advantage of the fact that he came first, so he arranged for the two of them to clean the courtyard while he did the work.
Stay with Master Tripitaka and listen to the teachings all the time.
It has to be said that Master Tripitaka is really extraordinary. A few simple words often contain profound and thought-provoking truths... Without any special teaching, Li Chengqian felt that he had gained a lot, compared with the previous teachers in the East Palace.
Much stronger.
Moreover, Master Tripitaka is proficient in Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Even though he was born in Buddhism, he spared no room in criticizing some of the dross in Buddhism.
And Li Chengqian also understood a very important thing from the process of Master Tripitaka's interpretation of the scriptures...that is, the right to interpret the scriptures has a decisive role in the direction of the content of these scriptures.
Many times it is just one sentence, but due to various reasons, it can give many different annotations.
This is true for the Buddhist scriptures, the Taoist scriptures... and the same is naturally true for the Confucian scriptures.
So what is the right path and what is the wrong path?
How can interpreters and translators ensure that they are right?
In this regard, Fahai gave Li Chengqian a suggestion: "If your highness can be like a poor monk and travel thousands of miles...and then combine it with the meaning of the scriptures in thousands of books, you will have some insights."
Although Li Chengqian is frivolous on the surface, he has deep thoughts and seems to have some big plans, but in Fa Hai's view, this is not a big problem.
Even if he rebels in the future, it will only cause some waves at most. Not to mention whether it can hurt the bones of the Tang Dynasty... it is already his ability to hurt a little bit of skin.
In fact, the main reason for this is that he suffers from foot disease...
"More than fifteen thousand volumes of scripture have been translated." Fahai said to Li Chengqian: "How is your handwriting?"
"Alright."
"Where are the two highnesses in the courtyard?"
"Okay."
"Good." Fahai nodded and asked Li Chengqian to call the other two highnesses in. "Please write down the scriptures here. The original scriptures and the scriptures translated by the poor monk will each be recorded."
The three of them copied, and Fahai took out the wordless scripture and wanted to write a scripture that truly belonged to him on it.
The opening chapter is written "Cheng Zhiwei theory".
In the blink of an eye, the eighth day came.
Fahai asked Li Chengqian: "Your Highness has been working hard these days. What do you think?"
This chapter is not over yet, please click on the next page to continue reading! Li Chengqian looked at the amount of work that had not been completed at all, and sighed: "Uncle, don't make fun of my nephew, these more than 15,000 volumes of original scriptures and translations.
..It’s so huge that I might not be able to finish it in a year and a half...My father previously asked me to go back to the Daming Palace today. I am afraid that I will disobey the order and disrespect it. I also asked my uncle to see my father and explain it on my behalf.
two."
"You don't need to ask your uncle to explain, I have made the decision to let you stay." At some point, Li Shimin had already entered the hall. After saying this, he paused for a few breaths, and then said to Li Chengqian: "Waiting for you to copy
After finishing the scriptures, I will give you a free life and let you go among the people for a walk... How about that?"
Li Shimin treated Li Chengqian very kindly today... In the past, he had decided to inform him directly, but now he actually asked for his opinion.
Li Chengqian looked at Master Sanzang, but he couldn't see any hint from Master Sanzang... After thinking carefully for a moment, Li Chengqian said: "Thank you, Father, for your help."
"The eight-day period has arrived, and the lecture platform for the words of the wise brother has been prepared. The monks and common people have also found their seats...the forum can be opened to lecture at any time." This sentence was naturally said to Li Shimin.
What the Tripitaka says.
"good."
"My dear brother... look at this scripture, can you find more people to copy it? With just the three of them, how long will it take to copy it?"
"Of course it's possible." Fahai nodded, but still said, "It's just that your three highnesses still need to transcribe it completely and carefully."
"This is natural." Li Shimin agreed, "I will personally supervise them."
Lecture on stage.
Because there was only half a day, Fa Hai did not talk about too profound content... I chose some easy-to-understand words. After all, the scriptures are inherently boring, and there are only a few who can really listen to them.
