Chapter 430: Tathagata Buddha collects scriptures and Master Tripitaka returns to Lingshan

Even for monks who have been famous for a long time, giving sermons is still a technical job.

But Fahai was very familiar with this, and even in front of the emperors, ministers and people in the capital of the Tang Dynasty, he could do it with ease and with ease.

Master Tripitaka spit out lotus flowers from his mouth and began to perform various wonderful sutras. Frequent visions occurred in the sky, showing auspicious energy of the day and auspicious light of ten thousand ways.

Seeing that the time had come, Fahai stopped at the right time and said to everyone present to listen to the sutra: "When the poor monk left Lingshan, he said that he would return to Lingshan in eight days. Now the eight-day period has come. Everyone will leave today.

Well, when the poor monk returns from Lingshan, he will open a Dharma altar again to teach these thirty-five Lingshan scriptures."

After saying that, Fahai stood up from the altar, and then his four disciples came to him. Auspicious clouds rose under the feet of the five masters and disciples, dragging them to the sky. When the people saw it, they naturally

See you soon.

After the master and disciples left.

After Li Shimin ordered the Imperial Army to protect the people and evacuate in an orderly manner, he then returned to the palace.

Lingshan.

"Anuo, Gaye."

"The disciple is here."

"And collect all the scriptures written by the monks."

"yes."

Not long after, the two of them placed many scriptures in front of the golden lotus of the Buddha in the Mahavir Palace, and reported to the Buddha: "Buddha, I have collected them all, no more, no less, exactly the number of Tripitaka."

Those monks who successfully completed their tasks naturally felt calm in their hearts, and did not even realize that this was something worth boasting about. If a monk cannot memorize scriptures, what kind of monk can he be?

However, some monks did not write down everything, and there were inevitably errors and omissions in the writing; some simply did not touch a word. There were also some who felt that it was unreasonable to submit a blank scroll, so they wrote down their own insights into the Dharma.

These monks inevitably feel uneasy in their hearts.

For fear of being held accountable by the Buddha, no matter what the reason was, it would be a sin for me not to write it out.

The main reason is that there are too many monks in Lingshan at the moment, and many of them have been assigned to unpopular scriptures and can write them silently. Especially some old monks who have been in Daleiyin Temple in Lingshan for a long time, they don't even have Arhat status.

.

This leaves those Bodhisattvas and Arhats with no reason to explain. After all, no matter how much they say, it sounds like just an excuse.

As for whether these old monks will be attracted by the Bodhisattvas, Arhats, and even the Buddhas who are concerned about the presence of the Buddha sitting in Lingshan Mountain, they will naturally be uneasy and make trouble. If they take action, wouldn't they be more guilty?

Now I just lost some face. If I really did this as an act of personal revenge, I would be making a big mistake.

Of course, reciting sutras silently is by no means an absolute criterion for testing a monk's profundity in Buddhism, but it can still be regarded as an important factor, so those old monks were still remembered by the Buddha.

After all, practicing in the Daleiyin Temple in Lingshan itself represents the excellence of their Buddhist teachings.

The scripture was placed in front of the Buddha, but the Buddha had no intention of reading it. Instead, he called the two sages standing aside: "Anuo, Kaye."

The two venerables hurriedly stepped forward to listen.

"After collecting these scriptures, send them to the Scripture Collection Pavilion."

"Ah this."

The Buddha's instructions shocked the monks below. They all looked left and right, and looked at each other in confusion when they looked at each other. Especially those who failed to complete the task were frightened for a while.

Even Ah Nuo and Gaye were stunned for a moment, wondering whether they should listen to the Buddha's instructions. After all, this is not a trivial matter. When it comes to the true scripture, can it really be so careless?

It was Guanyin Bodhisattva who was kind-hearted and went out to ask the Buddha for advice on behalf of the monks: "Amitabha. Buddha, there are many people in Lingshan who can recite all the scriptures silently. Why don't you proofread them and then fill them into the Sutra Pavilion?"

?”

"It's the best, it's the best—"

"Buddha, it is better to complete the scriptures before entering the Sutra Pavilion."

The previous sentence of the Bodhisattva not only asked the doubts in the minds of the monks, but the latter sentence also obviously received the support of the majority of monks and spoke to their hearts.

Most of those who say these words are practicing Mahayana Buddhism. And these true sutras are actually Mahayana Buddhist sutras.

Although today's Buddhism is still divided into Mahayana and Hinayana, the teachings of both sides are mostly interoperable. Some eminent Hinayana monks are also very interested in Mahayana Buddhism.

Not to mention the two Buddhas, Medicine Master and Maitreya, even the leading Buddha was practicing Mahayana Buddhism. There is no need to say more about others.

And some monks who specialize in Hinayana Buddhism even feel that the true meaning of Hinayana Buddhism is no longer in Lingshan. It is in the Eastern Land of the Tang Dynasty.

In their view, Tang Sanzang traveled thousands of miles to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures, which was actually putting the cart before the horse.

The performance of the monks was seen by the Buddha.

Many times, you only know how rare it is when you lose it. It should be noted that the scriptures in the Sutra Pavilion are never on guard against the monks in Lingshan. As long as you want to read them, you can borrow them at any time.

But for more than a thousand years, Buddha has seen it very clearly.

Most of the people who often come in and out of the Sutra Pavilion are old monks who have attained enlightenment in the mortal world. On the contrary, they are rarely visited by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

As for the Arhats, they are still on the road of specialized cultivation and have not reached the realm of extensive knowledge. Reading too many scriptures is actually not a good thing. But there are always exceptions in everything, such as the Arhat who subdues the dragon. He is one of the few among all Arhats.

A few people who often go to the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion.

The Buddha's eyes glanced at the Great Sage King Bodhisattva. This Bodhisattva has an extraordinary origin. In this life, he is Yang Tianyou, the father of Erlang God Yang Jian, and in his previous life, he was a close disciple of the former Buddha Upaladha in Lingshan. He was in Xiaoxi some time ago.

At the right time, the Great Sage Bodhisattva King Bodhisattva relied on Tripitaka's Great Sun Buddha Flame to refine and merge with Yang Tianyou into one body. This was a scene that the Buddha had never expected before.

The Buddha also never expected that he would come to attend this meeting at the Buddhist Lingshan Mountain.

But since he is here, he still uses the name of the Great Sage, King of Masters and Bodhisattva, so Lingshan will naturally not turn him away.

The Buddha used his spiritual consciousness to read the scriptures he had just written on the blank scriptures. As expected. The Great Sage King Bodhisattva naturally could not read the scriptures silently. What he wrote down were some of his own insights into Buddhism.

.

It is not perfunctory, but written extremely seriously, and it also contains many Confucian views.

In comparison, the Taoist scriptures written by Jin Zha contained more content, and even included a practice method for practicing the golden spear technique after the scriptures.

"Please ask the Buddha to proofread the scriptures before entering the pavilion!"

I don’t know who took the lead. In just a few breaths, the monks came out to petition.

The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the Main Hall, as well as the Arhats at the front, naturally knew what was going on. The monks in the temple and in the mountains outside the temple could not figure out the situation so quickly.

But when they heard the noise coming from the main hall, everyone naturally couldn't sit still. After all, how could it be such a small thing to allow so many true Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to ask for each other?

They simply knelt down to petition.

The Buddha sat firmly on the golden lotus and did not panic at all: "Don't you know that the Great Dao is fifty and the Tianyan is forty-nine. Now that Tripitaka has taken away the complete set of scriptures, I am in Lingshan, so I will let nature take its course. Moreover, as the Bodhisattva said, the world of Lingshan

Those who are able to meditate on the true sutra will truly remember it by keeping it in their hearts."

"Anuo, Gaye."

"exist."

"Send the scriptures to the Scripture Collection Pavilion quickly——"

"yes."

The two people did not dare to disobey, so they used their magic power to wrap more than 15,000 scriptures and sent them to the Sutra Pavilion. Not long after, the Sutra Pavilion, which had been emptied by Sanzang's master and disciples, was filled again.

There are still thirty-five scriptures, but who knows what weird things are in it?

Seeing that the monks were worried, the Buddha said again: "You don't need to panic. If you have memorized the entire sutra, you can go to the Sutra Pavilion to check for any omissions and fill in the gaps. And one thing, you must mark the modifications on the sutra."

time and one’s own name.”

The Buddha's words spread throughout Lingshan, and the monks immediately became excited.

In particular, several old monks who have gained access to unpopular scriptures and entered the temple are eager to leave their names in the scriptures of Lingshan Sutra Pavilion.

After the Buddha said this, he looked at the other Buddhas and Guanyin Bodhisattva: "You don't have to show it in the Sutra Pavilion, you might as well keep a copy of the Sutra in your respective dojos. How about that?"

"good!"

In the past, the ownership of these scriptures belonged to Lingshan. They only had the right to borrow them and could not spread them without permission from Lingshan. This is one of the reasons why the voice of Hinayana Buddhism in Xizhou is getting smaller and smaller.

Moreover, with the spread of Mahayana Buddhism, a large number of Hinayana believers have been taken away. After all, compared to Hinayana Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism seems to be more resonant with ordinary people.

All living beings are equal and all living beings are saved. This is the fundamental spirit of Mahayana Buddhism, and this is what living beings in the three realms lack and desire most.

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has gained the essence of it, claiming to save suffering and save people in distress, and to bring salvation to all people, and he does what he says, so he has achieved his current status.

But even she is not proficient in these thirty-five sutras. Being able to memorize and understand the true meaning of them obviously cannot be confused. But she can bring together the experts of the four Zen Pure Tantric schools, which is obviously also the case.

A rare scholar in Lingshan.

The main hall was silent for a moment, and then the four Vajras shouted in unison: "Master Tripitaka has returned!"

"Please come into the temple!" Buddha said immediately.

The monks heard the Buddha use the word "please", but they didn't think there was anything wrong with it. After all, based on Master Tripitaka's performance along the way, he definitely deserved the word "please".

If Jin Chanzi's identity had to be used to talk about things, I'm afraid it would be a matter of debate whether Tang Sanzang recognized it or not.

After all, the fact that Tripitaka awakened the true spirit of Golden Chanzi has long been spread in the Three Realms. The fact that Lingji Bodhisattva is afraid of Tripitaka and does not dare to save the Yellow Wind Monster is not a secret in the Three Realms.

But no one will make fun of Lingji Bodhisattva because of this.

Because this Master Tripitaka dares to transcend the canopy, and even dares to forge a few heavenly tribulations. The relics even say that he doesn’t want them.

Even some of the Bodhisattvas present felt unworthy of such a person.

If Jin Chanzi was a stupid young man back then, doing things based on his mind and not being reasonable; then today's Master Tripitaka would not be able to defeat him, even if he were to fight him.

How could you come to Lingshan for the meeting after taking a detour?

However, after coming here and experiencing several "tortures", their mentality gradually calmed down.

It's just a debate with Master Tripitaka, and it doesn't seem too embarrassing to lose.

The five masters and disciples went to the Mahavira Hall again and paid homage to the Buddha and Bodhisattva. Master Tripitaka put his hands together and said to the Buddha: "The young monk sent the scriptures to the Tang Dynasty and completed the translation of the Tripitaka scrolls."

After saying that, Fahai took out a stack of books from his sleeves and showed them to the Buddha one by one: "These are the scriptures sent by the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty. They include the Tao Te Ching, the Nan Hua Sutra, the Chongxu Sutra, and the Jing Jing Sutra."

"Taoist classics such as "The Analects of Confucius", "Mencius", "Great Learning", "The Doctrine of the Mean", "Book of Songs", "Book of Songs", "Book of Rites", "Book of Changes", "Spring and Autumn" and other Confucian classics."

Fahai paused for a moment and said, "These are all translations by the young monk."

After hearing this, the monks felt mixed in their hearts. The Emperor of the Tang Dynasty did not seem to be a good person.

Why did you send these Taoist and Confucian scriptures to their spiritual mountain?

Academic exchange?

As for what Tripitaka said about "returning the gift", they obviously didn't believe it.

This book is also a conspiracy. Li Shimin just asked Fahai to translate these classics and send them to Lingshan. As for whether the sentient beings in Lingshan read it or not, he had no control over it?

As for the monks in Lingshan who wanted to change the entrance hall after reading the Taoist and Confucian scriptures, that would have nothing to do with him.

Even if there was such a day, Li Shimin thought that he had already reported to the underworld long ago, and even if he looked for it, he could not be found.

The Buddha looked at Tripitaka and the classics in his hands, and felt that the development of this matter was getting more and more out of his control.

However, he didn't care too much about it. He never restricted the spread of Taoism and Confucianism in Xizhou and just allowed them to develop.

Taoism has already retained considerable influence in Xizhou, and Confucianism has become more and more prosperous recently under the lectures of Mr. Ziyu.

If anyone sees that he is a weak scholar and thinks that he is easy to bully, that would be a big mistake. Mr. Ziyu was a disciple of that master. When that master was rampant in the Central Plains, even the Taiqing saint

The incarnation of Li Er also tried his best to stay away.

"Anuo, Gaye."

"Disciple is here." The two venerables quickly came out.

"Collect the scriptures given by the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty in the Sutra Collection Pavilion."

"yes."

The two sages carried the scriptures and left.

On the way, Jiaye didn't know what he thought of, and said to Anuo: "The two of us will call the sutra-moving monk from now on."

Ah Nuo chuckled and said, "I'll go to the Sutra Pavilion later, and first I'll see if there are any mistakes or omissions that the two of us can write."

"What do you mean, senior brother?"

"When it comes to leaving your name, you naturally have to be one step ahead and take the lead. Otherwise, we will miss this convenient opportunity."

"Amitabha, good, good!" Kasyapa said again: "It is better for the two of us to go back later, perhaps we can avoid the difficulty of debating sutras with Master Tripitaka."

Ah Nuo even sighed with emotion: "It's a pity that Master Tripitaka has already taken the scriptures and returned to the Tang Dynasty. Otherwise, this 'Lingshan Debate' would probably also be counted among the ninety-nine and eighty-one difficulties."
