27. Impossible

Old Drake looked at the driving crystal core in his hand, and his wrinkled hand repeatedly brushed the surface of the crystal core.

A look of surprise gradually appeared on his face, which was as dry and wrinkled as tree bark. It only lasted for a short while, then he squinted his eyes and curled his lips thoughtfully.

He coughed and stood up, walked around the desk, and came to Andrew.

"What is that magician called?"

Andrew quickly stood up and replied: "Lu Yu."

"A strange name." After evaluating Lu Yu's name, Old Drake asked curiously, "Have you investigated his information?"

"The servants at home learned when he rented a house that he was a nobleman who traveled here from a far, far away place."

"No trace of the place names he mentioned can be found, and the language he accidentally spoke while renting an apartment was also obscure and difficult to understand."

Old Drake coughed violently. The white-haired man was leaning on crutches and hunched over. Looking from behind, he was just an old man about to be buried.

Andrew saw old Derek coughing so hard, and quickly stepped forward to help him.

"Master, during this trip to the East, I couldn't find any medicinal materials suitable for your body..." Andrew's voice became smaller and smaller as he spoke.

Old Drake patted his hand nonchalantly and laughed gently.

"Conditioning...ahem...what else can I do?"

"No matter how beautiful the flower is, it will wither, and no matter how powerful the beast is, it will usher in its twilight years... Andrew, I heard that the powerful magician has a way to obtain a new body and welcome a new life..."

Old Drake, who found it difficult to stand, sat on a chair, and Andrew quickly picked up a blanket and covered his legs.

"I can't do it. The fourth-level magician is too weak."

"Countless adventurers have spread word of mouth that magicians should be at the tenth level, but I have spent my entire life only getting here."

"Even if there is the power to welcome new life, I have no chance to grasp it."

Andrew wanted to say something, but old Drake was no longer interested in blessings and other useless words.

At first, he desperately wanted to find a way to delay the onset of aging.

As a court magician of the Kingdom of Yas, he used the resources at his disposal to refine potions, make magic circles, and try alchemy to shape his body.

He has tried every one.

His efforts were even assisted by King Yas II. However, until the death of King Yas II, and he stepped into the loess with one foot, he still could not master that skill.

Vision faded, energy decreased, and physical strength declined one after another. At first, old Drake still wanted to fight against this destined fate.

He stopped teaching, gave up all his responsibilities, and devoted himself wholeheartedly to finding a way to live longer.

But after repeated failures, the disheartened old Drake compromised.

He made peace with his mediocre self.

There may be a solution, but it is not a solution that a fourth-level magician can touch.

No longer resentful or angry, he peacefully accepted the fact that the sun would set.

Old Drake waved his hand and stopped talking about his body, but continued to talk about Lu Yu.

"What do you think?"

Andrew hesitated for a while before slowly speaking his mind.

"Whether it's the servant's description or my actual impression of him, it should be true that he is a noble."

"He should be well-educated and behave appropriately. Although he is a little arrogant, he should not be out of line."

"In terms of strength, this demon-breaking doll is officially in operation and launching an attack on me. I may die."

Old Drake was very dissatisfied with Andrew's belittling of himself. He snorted and said, "You are already a second-level magician, why are you still so lackluster and confident!"

"A puppet, a soulless dead thing, even if your magic is useless, where is your courage and wisdom?"

Andrew quickly lowered his head: "Master taught me that."

"How many times have I told you not to continue playing with dolls? You should have more power instead of playing with these toys."

"His Majesty Yas III is about to mobilize troops in the east. This is the biggest opportunity for your Turner family. It is also the best opportunity for you to master more resources and make greater progress."

"You are not young anymore. Put down your puppets and think carefully about the future of you and the family behind you."

Andrew bit his lip, the words of defense came to his lips, but he did not say them out.

He didn't respond, just lowered his head silently, not letting Master see his expression.

Maybe it’s because he’s getting old, but old Drake’s topics are always jumping around.

After teaching Andrew a lesson, he returned to the topic of Lu Yu again.

"In the past, there were people who pretended to be nobles and sneaked into the royal city to cheat." Old Drake mentioned casually.

Andrew was stunned for a while, looking at his master in surprise.

"Is this something surprising?"

"Did you know that the two identities of traveler and noble have always been the favorite combination of liars?"

"Travellers from far away, hum... If you want to ask how far it is, then of course it is, very far away, so far away that you don't even know how to verify the authenticity."

"The status of aristocrats enables them to have conversations with dignitaries anywhere and they will not be thrown out the door."

"There were several such people when you were a child. After being exposed, their fate was to be tied up as human agents and entered the goblin underground palace to help clear mines."

Andrew recalled his brief contact with Lu Yu and said subconsciously: "But I don't think Lu Yu looks like him..."

The temperament of aristocrats cannot be acted out in words. Put good clothes on slaves and commoners and let them come together with real aristocrats. Even if you don't ask questions, you can see the flaws just by looking at their actions.

What's more, Lu Yu is a magician.

These days, there are only a few slaves and ordinary people who can be magicians, let alone magicians who can subdue the Demon-Breaking Doll.

Old Drake sighed, raised his crutch and gave Andrew a stick on his calf.

"Do you believe what he said?"

Old Drake said angrily: "Why don't you think carefully about where such a young fourth-level magician came from!"

"Yes, he is right, this puppet has indeed worked."

"But do you have a way to find out how far this operation goes?"

"Why don't you suspect that they discovered your puppet and specially set up a trap to manipulate you and make you his mouthpiece?"

"Andrew, master, please be a good boy. When you go to redeem your doll tomorrow, stay a little longer. He will definitely reveal to you that he has a travel map he drew in his hand."

"The next step is to sell the map, cheat money and leave."

Old Drake said firmly: "A fourth-level magician? He is just a liar waiting for fools to take the bait."

Andrew also became suspicious after what his master said. When he saw his master waving his hand to leave, he bowed respectfully and slowly exited the room.

As he was leaving, he could vaguely hear his master murmuring.

"Impossible...impossible..."

Andrew looked at the starry sky and recalled his master's instructions just now.

"Lu Yu, is he a liar who sells fake maps?"
