The first thousand one hundred and sixty one journey (1)

The willow branches on both sides of the Wei River have sprouted new buds, as green as jade.

At the foot of the distant mountains, rolling figures appeared in the bamboo forest again.

Spring warms the earth and everything revives.

Entering February, the people in Guanzhong once again received good news: Chariot General Yi Zong led his army on the 28th day of the first lunar month in the spring of the sixth year of Han Yuande, and marched into Yulin Fortress, the hometown of the Qin Dynasty, which had been abandoned by the Xiongnu.

At this point, the entire Qin Great Wall defense line, which had been forced to abandon due to strict orders from the Qin court in the second year of Qin II, was again controlled by China.

Yinshan Mountain once again became a stronghold covering the civilization of the Xia Dynasties.

From then on, Chang'an and Guanzhong were completely safe.

The threat of the Xiongnu cavalry was theoretically eliminated. Unless they could fly, they would not be able to cross the Xiongguan Chongshan Mountains and threaten the foundation of the Han Dynasty.

Of course, the actual impact of this matter is just that.

The people of Guanzhong now have an appetite.

The king's army went to war, and it was natural that he would win.

The number of enemies killed, beheaded and captured was less than 10,000, and they were no longer in the mood to celebrate.

It is probably that one day when the Han army captures the members of the Xiongnu royal family, they will have the same revelry as they did after winning the battle of Gaoque in winter.

Moreover, the people of Chang'an today are even more concerned about an upcoming grand event, the Shiqu Pavilion Meeting!

At that time, hundreds of scholars and celebrities from all over the world will gather in Shiqu Pavilion.

Every famous person and giant will attend the meeting.

The emperor has ordered that two huge Huabiao trees be re-erected under the North Tower of Weiyang Palace.

Its base is made of marble, and the towering tree transported from Andong to Chang'an is used as the trunk.

On the giant trees, dragons, phoenixes and various auspicious beasts from myths and legends are carved.

One stands in the North Tower, at the entrance of the palace.

One stands outside the Beique Tower and at the entrance of the Bus Department.

On the front of the pedestal of Huabiao standing in the city tower, facing the direction of Xuanshi Hall, is inscribed a famous saying from Zong Zhou Dynasty: It is better to defend the people's mouth than to defend the river.

On the back, there is engraved the famous saying of Duke Ai of Lu recorded by Xunzi: I was born in a deep palace, and my hands are longer than those of women. I have no idea of sorrow, no knowledge of labor, and no knowledge of fear.

There is no doubt that these two sentences are used to warn ourselves today.

On the front of the Chinese watch outside the city tower, on the base facing the royal road, there is a famous saying from the Warring States Period: The promise of a thousand people is not as good as the care of one person.

On the back of it, the side facing the palace, is engraved with another sentence, Qu Zi's famous saying: The road is long and long, and I will search up and down.

Obviously this is meant for the giants from various schools who are about to attend the meeting.

This is to tell them not to be afraid to speak, and not to be afraid to speak.

At the same time, we should stick to the truth and explore forward.

However, to the general public, these things are just that.

Many people even don't know the meaning of this matter at all. Only those nobles, scholar-bureaucrats and foreign ministers will think about the meaning and what is revealed.

The general public is obviously more concerned about the hugeness of the Huabiao wood and the gorgeous decoration.

Of course, for the appearance of Hua Biaomu, the gossip party said: warmly welcome.

Because in Chinese culture, this Huabiao wood symbolizes the way of speech and the freedom to speak.

Emperor Taizong once issued an edict at that time: In ancient times, when the world was governed, the government had a banner to promote good and a tree to slander, so those who knew the way to govern came to give advice.

This slanderous tree is another name for Huabiao.

It is a symbolic wooden building that has been popular among the Xia people since the Yao and Shun periods.

It is a road sign and a building that guides the way. It is also a tool used by rulers to collect suggestions and opinions from the people. It is the most original and oldest 'Emperor's Hotline' and 'Emperor's Mailbox'.

It is also the most important way for Chinese ancient kings to communicate with their ancestors.

Of course, with development now, these functions have been stripped away.

The rest of the Huabiao wood is just a symbolic meaning.

It is telling the people of the world, especially the nobles and scholar-bureaucrats of the world: The emperor is not a ****, and he will not dominate the world with one person.

Rather, I am willing to discuss and exchange opinions with everyone, and work together to make the foundation of the Han Empire bigger, stronger, and better.

However, in the eyes of the Gossip Party, this is the emperor encouraging them to bravely tell the truth.

So, they were immediately given a shot in the arm.

Although the secrets of the palace and the Liu family are still secretive, some gossip is circulated privately in the circle.

However, it would be embarrassing to know the secrets of the Three Gongs and Nine Ministers and the troubles in the families of the princes and their relatives.

Novelists obtained countless materials at once, and then they were inspired to write many masterpieces that have been handed down for generations.

For example, someone wrote a book called "The Story of Xijing", which darkened a certain big shot and pulled off his underwear for everyone in the world to see.

Have fun and have fun.

And the novelist made a lot of money from it.

Even relying on publishing and printing, his income that year was more than his feudal taxes!

But the big shot who was hacked was still unable to have a seizure and could only force a smile.

As for the other class in Chang'an City, the middle class and wealthy businessmen, they all stretched out their necks, waiting for the world's famous figures and university elites to enter the capital.

Many of these people are preparing to choose a school of thought for their sons and nephews to enter.

So, whoever is more prominent and performs more dazzlingly at this Shiquge meeting will undoubtedly become the most important reference for them to choose a school of study for their children and nephews in the future.

Not only them, at this moment, the eyes of the whole world are focused on Chang'an.

Hundreds of schools of thought and various factions, as long as they can perform well at the Shiquge meeting and achieve outstanding results.

Then, we will definitely not have to worry about students in the future, let alone sponsors.

If it performs well, maybe a former small school will immediately transform into a university school that influences the world's public opinion and thought.

You can even open branches in various major cities!

Therefore, among hundreds of schools of thought, almost no one did not attach importance to this meeting at Shiqu Pavilion.

Each university sect is basically composed of elites.

……………………

In Luoyang City, Yang Hui, the giant of the Chongmin School and the current head of Luoyang Academy, is now outside Luoyang City, taking his disciples and disciples to say goodbye to his parents and fellow villagers.

The Chongmin School is a very, very, very young school.

It originated from a small private learning mutual aid organization in the first year of Yuande.

At that time, several young scholars, after failing the exam and returning home, privately used the theories of the Simeng School, added some ideas of their own, and then started to show their loyalty to the people.

Later, the big local businessmen, big landowners and powerful people in Luoyang suddenly discovered this school of thought.

Then, I regarded it as a life-saving straw.

They hold high the banner of favoring the people and putting the people first, but in fact they are trying their best to stuff private goods inside.

At the same time, a large number of famous scholars from the Guliang School, the Simeng School and the Xunzi School, including Yang Hui, joined in one after another.

With the development up to now, today's Chongmin School is actually completely different from the original one.

Of course, because Zhidu once sat here, this school of thought also received a lot of influence from the upper class, especially Weiyang Palace.

This is reflected in their behavior. On the one hand, they vigorously advocate that "to control chaos in the world, the first priority is to attach importance to the people, so that the people can harmonize themselves and the country can be stable."

It is advocated that the state should not control the grassroots too much, and that grassroots matters should be left to the rural sages who are "virtuous and can lead the public to do good".

Radicals even put forward demands for rulers to ensure the security of people's rights and property.

Trying to create a Han version where "wind can enter, rain can enter, but county roads (referring to the emperor's authority) cannot enter".

It seems that the heavy-people school has been controlled by big landowners, big businessmen and big families.

But in fact, there is another side to this school of thought.

Confucianism as a whole is extremely advanced and progressive.

Because they are an emerging young school born out of the Simeng School.

Therefore, in the process of quarreling with the Simeng School, they traced their origins upwards and found the basis for their own orthodoxy.

The 70th disciple of Confucius, Shishuo, who plays a vital role in connecting the past and the following in the Confucian sect, is their ancestor.

And Shishuo is a pioneer and enterprising person like Mr. Zixia among the Confucian sect.

Maybe people in later generations don't know much about this Seventy-Two Sages of Confucius.

But archeology has proven that he is the bridge between Confucian thought and Mencius thought.

Shishuo inherited Confucius' attainments in arithmetic, and he introduced arithmetic into Confucian thought.

His work "Five Elements" is a peak of Confucianism.

In addition to the Five Elements Theory of Elements (metal, wood, water, fire, and earth), he proposed the Five Elements of Humanity (benevolence, justice, etiquette, wisdom, and sage).

The Chongmin School used the "Five Elements" as a basis to start their interpretation and interpretation of Confucianism.

Therefore, this school attaches great importance to mathematics.

Almost everyone has a copy of "The Book of Changes" and "Nine Chapters on Arithmetic".

At the same time, influenced by the Simeng school's idea of "the people are the most important", they advocated and required landlords to treat tenant farmers well and workshop owners to treat their employees well.

On the other hand, as an emerging school, the Chongmin School held a positive attitude towards all new things and new practices.

They advocated: The Tang-Wu revolution followed heaven and responded to man, and the revolution was great!

I sneered at the rule of the Three Dynasties and the rituals of the Zhou Dynasty that other Confucian schools had been obsessed with in the past.

They clearly stated that ‘times have changed and the world has changed’.

Using "Three generations have different laws and five emperors have not restored rituals" as an excuse, they advocate that the tripod should be reformed from generation to generation to get rid of the old and welcome the new.

The new era requires new etiquette, new systems, and new laws.

He even threatened that "three years after the establishment of the law, we should restore it, change it if it exists, and commend it if it doesn't."

Every three years after a law is enacted, it must be reviewed.

Any mistakes should be corrected promptly. Even if the problem is not visible for the time being, it should be considered carefully.

Naturally, this school of thought became an outlier within Confucianism.

A product even weirder and more peculiar than the Simeng School.

If Liu Che hadn't been in power now, they would have been taken to the vegetable market and chopped into pieces.

At this moment, outside Luoyang City, facing his fellow villagers in Luoyang, Yang Hui puffed up his chest, cupped his hands and said: "In the past, when Jing Ke left Yan, he wrote a song: The wind rustled, the gold changed, the water became cold, and the strong men were gone and never came back!"

"Now we, the people who value the people, are determined to die!" Yang Hui said, "If we fail, we will not be able to see our parents again!"

For the new Chongming School, they are indeed too immature now.

They are still in their infancy, and even their ideological and logical systems have not been fully established. In addition to the slogan of valuing the people and valuing the people, they have not even constructed other theories and systems that belong to them.

In particular, it did not describe an ideal country that belongs only to them.

The road to Chang'an is indeed long and full of obstacles. If you are not careful, you will be pushed to the ground and rubbed hard by others.

Even, the spine was broken!

But, it’s impossible not to go.

First, this is a summons from the emperor. If you don't go, you are resisting the imperial edict. Although it is a good thing for scholars to resist the imperial edict and they can get extra points.

But that was normal times, and under current circumstances, if you don't go, you will be ridiculed, which is a guilty conscience.

Secondly, the Chongmin School must go through hardships like Shiquge's before they can hope to go further and find their own path.

If you don't go, you may be safe, but you won't be able to make any big progress in your life, let alone go out of Luoyang and go to the whole world.

Therefore, this time, the Chongmin School dispatched almost all the elders and teachers, but not a single young disciple or outstanding junior.

The calculation of Yang Hui and others is that even if Shiqu Pavilion is defeated this time, they will be the ones defeated.

Their younger generations and future generations can learn from their failures.

You can also avoid being swept away by others and leave behind seeds and hope.

The 'elders' were mainly the big merchants, big landowners and big nobles in Luoyang City. They also knew that the trip of the scholars in their hometown would be troubled by disaster, so they handed over their hands and replied: "You can go there without any worries! We and we will go there without any worries.

Luoyang elders will beat the drums to cheer you on!"

There were also many ordinary people who had been favored by the Chongmin School, who gathered in the crowd and shouted: "Children of Luoyang, be mighty! Children of Luoyang, never admit defeat!"

Yang Hui and others were also very moved, and they all looked back and bowed, saying: "Please don't worry, gentlemen, I am waiting here. I would rather die than lose the face of the people of Luoyang!"

For the people of Luoyang, they are proud.

They were the people of the old capital of Chengzhou and the people of the Eastern Capital of the Han Dynasty. They were the people of the Eastern Capital directly under the governance of the Emperor.

I think back then, if that bad guy Liu Jing hadn't talked too much, now the Shenjing of the Han family would be Luo ***, a country bumpkin who wouldn't be able to show off his power in Chang'an, Xijing this time.

Therefore, the character of the people of Luoyang is somewhat similar to the people of the Magic City in later generations.

They are wealthy, they are confident, and they have great self-esteem.

For the people of Luoyang, except for Luoyang, the entire map of the Han Dynasty can be described in two sentences: a barbaric land with rude people.

However, for a long time, Luoyang was just a commercial center.

rather than a political, military and cultural center.

After decades of prosperity in the Han Dynasty, a school of thought that emphasized the importance of the people finally emerged. Naturally, everyone held it in their hands and regarded it as their pride and future.

This meeting at Shiqu Pavilion is a process for them to prove themselves! (To be continued.)
