Chapter 845 Porous Liquid DAC Carbon Dioxide Capture System

NTU, on campus, Xu Chuan is sitting in his office dealing with the work at hand.

Since the magnetic polaron electromagnetic shield generator technology achieved initial results, his daily life during this period was basically spent traveling between Xinghai Research Institute and the NTU campus.

The main work of the institute is still in the aerospace field.

Whether it is plasma and electromagnetic deflection shields, the construction of lunar scientific research bases, or the research and development of neutrino communication technology, from the perspective of the research institute, these are all prepared for aerospace.

As for NTU, on the one hand, I provide guidance on the studies of several students, and on the other hand, I teach NTU students.

"Professor, my graduation thesis has been officially published."

In the office, after two hurried knocks on the door, Tong Yang walked in quickly with a journal, his face flushed, and his voice filled with excitement and excitement.

Xu Chuan, who was reviewing the documents, was slightly stunned for a moment, then reacted and said with a smile: "Congratulations."

Tong Yang, one of the two doctoral students among the four students recruited in 2021. After studying with him for more than three years, he has now reached the point of graduation.

Xu Chuan took the journal from the student with a smile and flipped through it.

The second paper in the latest issue of "New Advances in Mathematics" is Tong Yang's paper "Research on the Optimal Pinch Problem Based on the Minimum Legendrin Submanifold on the Unit Sphere".

From submission in early July to mid-to-late October now, it has been almost three months.

The manuscript can be published at such a fast speed, although it is inseparable from his name hanging in the corresponding author column, which greatly improves the review efficiency of "New Advances in Mathematics".

But being able to publish the manuscript within three months and officially publish it is enough to prove the excellence of this paper.

At least it can be said that it has been done once, and there has been no situation of being sent back for modification.

Flipping through the journal in his hand, Xu Chuan said with a smile: "A four-year paper that has lived up to your hard work over the years. It is a very good paper. I hope that after graduation you can always maintain your knowledge of mathematics."

Eager to keep moving forward and create more results.”

In the office, after hearing the blessings from his mentor, Tong Yang breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile: "I will definitely keep your teachings in mind."

Xu Chuan smiled, put the journal in his hand on the table, and asked: "Are you ready for your graduation defense? When will it start?"

With some hope in his eyes, Tong Yang said quickly: "The graduation defense time is set for the afternoon two days later. Professor, will you have time to attend?"

Although he did not reach the heights of the previous three seniors in academic research, he still hoped that his mentor could be present at such an important moment in his life as his doctoral graduation defense.

However, he was not sure about this. After all, he knew how busy his mentor was.

Xu Chuan smiled and nodded, saying: "Of course."

As a tutor, he still has to spare some time for an important moment in life such as a student's graduation defense.

Hearing this, Tong Yang immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

In addition to this important moment in life, another reason is that there are a lot of big shots attending his graduation defense.

Of the six full quota defense committee members, five are academicians and one is Rong Zhizhuan, dean of NTU’s School of Mathematics.

At this scale, Tong Yang really doesn't know if he can sustain it without Xu Chuan.

Although he also knows that these big academicians are just here for his mentor.

After chatting about things related to graduation defense, Xu Chuan smiled and asked: "Where are you going after graduation? Do you have any ideas?"

Tong Yang thought for a while, shook his head and said, "I haven't decided yet. Several universities and research institutions have sent me invitations. I don't know what to choose yet."

There are not many job opportunities for mathematics graduates, and it is quite difficult to find a job.

Generally speaking, the main jobs for doctoral students in mathematics after graduation include university teachers, research institute researchers, quantitative analysts in the financial field, data scientists, etc.

Of course, for him, work matters have never been a consideration.

With the 'name' of a Xu Chuan student, no matter which field he goes to, even if he knows nothing, universities or research institutions will compete for him. They will even offer him a salary that far exceeds his own value.

But for Tong Yang, future development is also something that needs careful consideration.

This is not only his own future, but also related to Xu Chuan's reputation.

At least, he is not an ungrateful person. Being able to become Xu Chuan's disciple and study with him for several years is a great gift for him.

The original life trajectory has also been completely changed as a result.

After graduation, he would use Xu Chuan's reputation to 'cheat' and obtain things that didn't originally belong to him. Frankly speaking, he couldn't do such a thing.

Xu Chuan smiled and said: "Then you have to make a decision as soon as possible. There are only two days left for your graduation defense."

"As for if you want to work in the research industry, compared to industries such as finance or software, I would still recommend you to work in mathematics research."

"Being able to solve the optimal pinching problem of the minimum legendrin submanifold, your talent in mathematics is still very good, and there is hope that you can go further."

After a pause, he added: "Of course, the most important thing about work is your own ideas."

"Whether you choose to stay in school and engage in teaching, or enter a research institution to engage in research, I respect your choice and can also write you a letter of recommendation."

Tong Yang nodded and said seriously: "Thank you, Professor, I will seriously consider it."

Xu Chuan smiled and said: "Go and prepare for your graduation defense."

"good!"

Seeing Tong Yang's leaving figure, Xu Chuan leaned back on the chair, smiled, and felt a little emotional.

This chapter is not finished yet, please click on the next page to continue reading the exciting content! The scene when he recruited these students four years ago is still vivid in his mind. Unexpectedly, in the blink of an eye, it was time to graduate again.

While he was reminiscing about the past, the cell phone on the table vibrated, and a call came in.

Picking up the phone casually, Xu Chuan looked at the caller ID and was a little surprised.

The call was from Senior Brother Fan Pengyue Fan from the Sichuan-Hai Materials Research Institute.

"Hello, Senior Brother Fan?"

He answered the phone with a smile. As soon as he said hello, a familiar voice came from the other end of the phone.

"Junior Brother Chuan, do you have time now?"

"What's wrong?" Xu Chuan asked with a smile.

"If you have time, come to my place now. One of the technologies you asked us to study has made a major breakthrough!" Fan Pengyue's voice sounded from the other side of the phone with a smile and a hint of controlled excitement.

Hearing this, Xu Chuan's eyes lit up and he quickly asked: "Which one?"

Although the scale of Chuanhai Materials Research Institute is not as large as that of Xinghai Research Institute, it is no longer the small 20 million worth experiment when he purchased it.

Although he said that most of the time this research institute was in a semi-free state, after so many years of development, coupled with the billions of meters of gold he poured into it, the current Sichuan-Hai Institute of Materials

Its scale is among the best in the field of materials, even in the world.

As for the technologies being researched, there are many more.

Superconducting materials, lithium batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, graphene, carbon materials, energy storage materials, polymer composite materials... and so on are almost certainly popular research fields, and today's Sichuan and Hai Institute of Materials are involved in them.

.

Of course, the most important research areas are still the ones he personally decided.

Superconducting, batteries, graphene or carbon materials and other fields.

On the other side of the phone, Fan Pengyue said mysteriously: "Keep it secret! You'll know when you get here. I'll definitely give you a surprise!"

Xu Chuan, who was curious about which technology had made a new breakthrough, almost gasped when he heard this. He laughed and cursed angrily: "Your sister! Are you the boss or am I the boss?! Keep it secret!"

!”

Fan Pengyue laughed and said: "What a surprise, and it's also a technique you personally ordered!"

Xu Chuan: "Okay, I'll go there now. If there's no surprise, I'll beat you to death!"

"You don't need to hammer me, I'll jump off the building myself!"

.......

After hanging up the phone, Xu Chuan felt a little itchy and quickly called Zheng Hai.

"Hey, Zheng Hai, drive over here now."

"Okay, Professor, I'll be there soon."

After hanging up the call briefly, Xu Chuan stuffed the report documents on the table into a drawer without sorting them out, and walked directly downstairs.

It has to be said that Fan Pengyue's sudden call from Senior Brother Fan really aroused his curiosity.

There is a major breakthrough in the technology researched by Chuanhai Institute of Materials, and he personally explained it.

Regarding the research fields and technologies he has selected, no matter which one has a breakthrough, the benefits and development it can bring are huge.

For example, lithium-air batteries, superconducting materials, or computational materials mathematical models, etc.

Each breakthrough in these materials or technologies may bring him at least tens to tens of billions of gold or more.

With a hint of wanting to destroy the Riddler, Xu Chuan got into the car driven by Zheng Hai.

"Where are you going? Professor." Xu Chuan got in the car, and Zheng Hai turned around and asked.

"Chuanhai Institute of Materials, hurry up."

"OK."

Zheng Hai responded, started the car and rushed towards the Qixia Mountain New Development Zone.

...

Out of curiosity, Xu Chuan quickly scanned his face and passed the access control, then took the elevator to Fan Pengyue's office.

"Tell me, which research has made a major breakthrough and is so mysterious?"

Fan Peng smiled more and did not answer the question immediately, but said: "Follow me."

With deep curiosity, Xu Chuan followed the footsteps of Senior Brother Fan.

After walking through the corridor and taking the elevator, the two of them arrived at a large laboratory on the upper floor of the institute.

After verifying the access control, Fan Pengyue opened the door of the laboratory and took the lead in walking in.

At first glance, there is a piece of equipment that looks a bit like an outdoor unit of a central air conditioner placed in the spacious laboratory. Several researchers in white coats are busy around this piece of equipment.

Xu Chuan looked up and down. The machine in front of him was not that weird. It looked like some ordinary equipment, and he was a little curious.

"this is?"

He originally thought it was a new breakthrough in lithium-air battery technology. After all, lithium-air batteries were a key target of the Sichuan-Hai Materials Research Institute and were worthy of a 'surprise'.

But now it seems not.

It is impossible to make lithium-air batteries so large, especially experimental samples.

He made a visual estimate of the equipment in front of him. It was at least five meters long by three meters wide and over two meters high.

Such a huge device cannot be a lithium-air battery.

Fan Pengyue smiled and said: "Porous liquid DAC carbon dioxide capture system!"

Hearing this name, Xu Chuan was stunned for a moment, glanced at Senior Brother Fan, then returned his eyes to the equipment in front of him, and asked in surprise:

"Have you made a breakthrough in carbon dioxide utilization technology?"

He finally remembered that among the technologies developed by Chuanhai Materials Research Institute, there was another technology that he had personally explained a few years ago.

That is, carbon dioxide collects and synthesizes various carbon compounds, such as gasoline, starch, glucose, silicon carbide, hydrocarbon, graphene and the most important oxygen, etc.

This technology was given to the Chuanhai Institute of Materials very early, almost when he had just completed the controllable nuclear fusion technology, and it has been four or five years now.

This is a technology he prepared for the development of Mars.

The atmosphere on Mars is very thin, but more than 96% of the Martian atmosphere is carbon dioxide, and historical space mission research data shows that there is a large amount of carbon dioxide in the soil on the surface of Mars.

For example, at the poles of Mars, there is a large amount of water ice composed of a mixture of carbon dioxide and water.

On Mars, whether it is the Arctic ice cap or the Antarctic ice cap, it can even reach thousands of kilometers during the aphelion period. It can be seen that it contains extremely rich water ice and carbon dioxide.

Compared with transporting these materials from the earth, the cost of using carbon dioxide, water, and oxygen and hydrogen after water electrolysis to synthesize various carbon compounds will undoubtedly be reduced by hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands of times.

This provides real feasibility for developing Mars.

And even on earth, this technology has great value.

Although the realization of controllable nuclear fusion technology has delayed the development of the greenhouse effect, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere cannot be digested and absorbed by vegetation in a short time.

Moreover, it is not possible to completely shift energy from fossil fuels to electric energy, nor can it be achieved in a short time.

Therefore, just collecting carbon dioxide from the air, reducing the greenhouse effect, and protecting the global environment has great application value.

Not to mention that as electric energy becomes cheaper, converting carbon dioxide into gasoline, starch, glucose, silicon carbide, hydrocarbon, and graphene is no longer an unattainable technology.

The only key point is how to capture the 'thin' carbon dioxide from the air.

That's right, it's just thin.

Although the greenhouse effect is becoming more and more serious, the total proportion of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is actually only about 0.04%.

Of course, the proportion of carbon dioxide is definitely different in cities and rural areas, but the proportion of carbon dioxide in the total mass is so low that how to recycle it is a huge problem.

Whether it is the traditional adsorption method using substances such as amines, the pressure swing adsorption method, or the organic membrane separation method, they are basically only suitable for environments with high carbon dioxide concentrations.

They are useless against the ultra-low concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
