Chapter four hundred and ninety first met acquaintances in the underworld

Gradually, my pace became slower and slower, and the old man who had been accompanying me had disappeared. It seemed that I had passed the hurdle in my heart and faced the Naihe Bridge calmly.

But I became more and more helpless, remembering that Chu Jiu once said two popular sayings about Naihe Bridge.

One theory is that there is a river in the underworld named Naihe, and another theory is that it means "helpless" in Chinese, which corresponds to the regret and helplessness that people feel about their wishes during their lifetime when they are reincarnated.

At this moment, I strongly agree with the second statement, and I do have too many regrets in my heart.

Regarding the Naihe Bridge, people will naturally think of the description in Chapter 10 of "Journey to the West": Brazen snakes and iron dogs compete for food, and they will fall into the Naihe River forever with no way out. This describes the horror of the Naihe River in the underworld.

There is a scene in the TV series where the judge said to Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty: "Your Majesty, that is called Naihe Bridge. If you go to the mortal world, you must have a biography."

The information I know about Naihe Bridge is recorded in the fourth volume of "Xuan Shi Zhi": "After walking for more than ten miles, we came to a river, which was not many feet wide and flowed to the southwest. When I asked Xi, Xi said: 'This is what the custom says.

Naihe, its source comes from the underworld. If you look at it, you will see that its water is full of blood, and it is fishy and filthy. Do not go near it."

Because there is a bridge on the river, it is named "Naihe Bridge". The bridge is dangerous, narrow and smooth, and is guarded by the Day Wanderer God and the Night Wanderer God. Under the bridge, the bloody river is full of insects and snakes, with rolling waves and fishy wind blowing on your face.

It is mentioned in folklore that after death, the soul of a person must cross the Naihe Bridge. Good people will be protected by gods or Buddhas to cross the bridge smoothly, while evil people will be thrown into the Blood River Pool to suffer.

The book "Investigation of Religious Customs in Fengdu" gives a detailed description of the Naihe Bridge: the bridge is divided into three levels. The ghosts of good people can safely pass through the upper bridge, the good and evil people can cross the middle bridge, and the ghosts of evil people can cross the lower bridge.

Bridges are often blocked by ghosts and thrown into the dirty waves under the bridge, where they are bitten by brass snakes and iron dogs.

In Fengdu Ghost Town, Chongqing, during the annual incense festival, pilgrims throw paper money or copper plates into the pool, and scatter fried rice into the pool, which means giving to hungry ghosts.

All elderly pilgrims like to walk on it, which means that after passing this bridge, they can avoid the pain of going to Naihe Bridge after death.

It is said that before the founding of the People's Republic of China, devotees traveling to and from Fengdu Ghost Town would burn incense and paper in front of the bridge and give money and gifts in the hope that gods or Buddhas would protect them after they died and cross the Naihe Bridge.

Even though I could slow down my pace, I was getting closer and closer to Naihe Bridge along Huangquan Road. The "people" in front of me lined up in a long line, and I followed the people in front of me.

At this time, I had already seen the stone bridge with a simple atmosphere. Naihe Bridge was completely different from what I imagined. It was completely different from what Chujiu described to me.

From where I stood, all I could see was the clouds and mist swirling thousands of feet below the bridge. I couldn't see the so-called river water at all, let alone the blood and gloominess.

Just when I was looking at Naihe Bridge, I felt a faint gaze looking at me. The young woman at the end of the bridge was dressed in simple pink clothes, which stood out in the entire gray space.

There is an indescribable charm in her dignified appearance. Her three thousand black hair is only tied with a pink hairband. Even from a distance of a hundred meters, she can still feel that she has an alluring face.

Chujiu was right, Po Meng did think she was a super beauty.

"Um?"

I glanced out of the corner of my eye and saw a familiar figure, or more precisely, familiar clothing, which was exactly the kind of military clothing that Wan Li often wore.

Just when I was staring at the figure not far away from me, the figure seemed to have the same reaction and turned its head to look at me.

"candy!"

I screamed and ran towards Candy, who was stunned. It wasn't until I stood in front of Candy that Candy called me Brother Feng with an incredible expression, and then started crying loudly.

"Brother Feng, I, I'm dead! You, why are you here? Could it be that you are too?"

Candy cried incoherently. After a long time, the "people" in line behind urged me to hug me. I didn't expect to meet an acquaintance in this place.

As expected of a soldier of the special forces, he quickly recovered his emotions. Before I could ask, Candy told me about the ancient Miao village.

After gathering more than 20 powerful men, Mr. Xu took urgent action. The target was the ancient Miao village. These 20 powerful men were the first group to attack the ancient Miao village, led by Ivan Qiao.

The armed police force led by Wan Li and some comrades from the reconnaissance company were the second batch to invade the ancient Miao village. They entered the ancient Miao village at 10 o'clock in the morning.

Candy's tone was a little helpless. The second batch of comrades actually didn't do anything. By the time they arrived at the ancient Miao village, the battle was over.

"What about you?"

Candy waved me off, maybe because of his bad luck. Several people from their reconnaissance company were sent to guard the entrance of the Yamashita factory to ensure that no fish slipped through the net.

There were three jeeps coming down the mountain at that time, with about fifteen people. Sun Zuojun accompanied them. Because he and Sun Zuojun had participated in the battle on the Guangxi border before, the two of them sat in the second vehicle.

On the way down the mountain, three huge black pythons suddenly rushed out of the mountain. Candy gestured with his hands that the snakes were as thick as a bucket. Just when Sun Zuojun shouted for an emergency stop, the three pythons crashed directly into their car.

Candy and his team's jeep was knocked directly to the side of the cliff. Fortunately, it was blocked by some big trees and did not fall into the depths of the cliff. The comrade driving the car was seriously injured at that time.

As soon as they got off the car, one of the giant pythons hit the candy. The moment Sun Zuojun pushed the candy away, he was disturbed by the other two giant pythons behind him and hit the tree.

Candy depicts Sun Zuojun spitting blood out of his mouth when he was hit against a tree, as if he cursed that there were three dragons somewhere, or something, but Candy didn't hear the details clearly.

Together with several other comrades, Candy and the others used the submachine guns and rifles they carried with them to suppress the black pythons with fire, but the firearms did not seem to cause much damage to them.

"Chief Sun is quite powerful. He was so seriously injured and yet he fought three giant beasts alone."

Candy describes the gap between their firepower suppression. A peach wood sword appeared in Sun Zuojun's hand. After several yellow talismans turned into ashes in the air, Sun Zuojun's peach wood sword could actually emit thunder and lightning.

The comrades who were trapped halfway up the cliff kept firing with guns. Candy seized an opportunity and fired a signal for help into the sky with a flare gun.

Several people retreated and fought. Just when they were about to withdraw from the valley, a giant black python that was entangled with Sun Zuojun turned around and chased them quickly.

In order to save his comrades who were about to be hit by the giant python, Candy used his body to block his comrades, and then lost consciousness. When he woke up again, he appeared on the road to hell.
