Two hundred and ninety-six. Good night have a good dream

Anna got up very early today, and so did Lu Li.

The sun had not yet risen from the roof. Lu Li turned his back to the window and quietly listened to Anna busy cleaning up the housework outside the door.

Anna specially took a day off for today's camping trip. Before the sun shone on the curtains, Anna gently opened the bedroom door.

"It's cloudy today and it's very cold outside. Please wear more clothes before going out."

Anna opened the curtains and found an old washed and faded sweater from the closet and helped Lu Li put it on.

The collar was put from the head to the neck, and his black hair was blown up by the friction of the wool, so Anna smiled while stroking the raised hair with her hands.

Breakfast was some leftover oatmeal from yesterday. Anna reheated it and boiled another egg. Lu Li gently shook his feet, sat in the chair, and watched Anna's back as she was busy.

The oatmeal porridge and eggs were cooked quickly. Anna returned to the table with the steaming food, peeled the eggs and put them into the porridge bowl in front of Lu Li.

"and yours?"

There was nothing in front of Anna.

"Mrs. Tom said yesterday that she would prepare rich ingredients, and I will eat them then." Anna said.

Lu Li thought for a moment and pushed the egg oatmeal towards Anna: "I won't eat it either."

"Smart little guy." Anna stretched out her hand and scratched Lu Li's nose, "Half of us each?"

"good."

A bowl of oatmeal and an egg was obviously not enough for two people to share, so one person was not hungry and two people were not full.

Anna took Lu Li's socks and teddy bear from the bedroom.

"With it, you can play with Pacey and Moore."

"I don't want to share it." Lu Li hugged the gift Anna gave him on his birthday.

"It's not good to be selfish."

Anna put the teddy bear into Lu Li's small backpack, gently and lovingly stroked Lu Li's scabbed knees, and put on his socks.

Jingle bell——

Anna stood up and picked up the phone. The voice that came out made Lu Li recognize Mrs. Tom's voice.

"Yes, we're ready. Elm Street? Okay, we're leaving now."

After hanging up the phone, Anna returned to the room and changed into a long white dress. Her long hair was tied into a simple ponytail. She took the hand of Lu Li who was carrying a small backpack and walked out of the house.

It rained in the second half of the night, making the morning slightly cooler, but the bright sunshine spilling out from behind the broken clouds indicated that it would be a comfortable sunny day later.

The dilapidated stone road is full of potholes and puddles of water, and the occasional passing vehicle splashes large splashes of mud.

Anna squatted down in front of a "stream" and motioned for Lu Li to climb up.

Lu Li climbed onto Anna's back and hugged her neck. Anna supported Lu Li and jumped over the rocks in the stream deftly.

The thick dark clouds gradually faded away, sprinkling broken brilliance, the accumulated water reflected the sky, and the two figures clinging to each other in the distance.

Arriving at Elm Street, Mr. and Mrs. Tom and their children were waving to us. The two families gathered and headed to the campsite in the Elm Forest.

Here you can see the vast sea in the distance and enjoy the tranquility of the forest.

Mrs. Tom and Anna spread the floor cloth together and laid out the food in the basket.

"Anna, you are not young anymore, and you still take care of Lu Li. The family needs a man..."

Mrs. Tom and young Anna talked in low voices.

"No, I still have to take care of Lu Li..." Anna declined.

"You are as close as brothers and sisters." Mrs. Tom sighed helplessly, looking at Lu Li who was sitting quietly next to her: "You must take good care of Anna in the future."

Lu Li nodded seriously.

Pacey and Moore ran past chasing butterflies, and Mrs. Tom asked Lu Li and Pacey Moore to play.

Anna urged Lu Li again before reluctantly following them.

Pacey and Moore ran and beat the bushes with the branches they picked up. They gradually moved away from the camp and came to an overgrown path leading to the cliff.

“Let’s go exploring on the cliffs!”

Percy and Moore walked through the grass, with Lu Li following behind, as if watching over them. But after passing through the bushes, they disappeared.

Lu Li couldn't see anything due to the overgrown weeds. He subconsciously moved forward, but he ignored that the road suddenly disappeared under his feet.

"Lu Li!"

Lu Li was startled by the sudden shout. The gravel rolled down, and then a familiar figure rushed over and hugged him tightly.

"I'm fine."

Lu Li was out of breath, and then he saw that he was standing on the edge of the cliff, and Belfast was so far away below him.

"My fault... I shouldn't have let you run away... go back to Mrs. Tom."

Anna looked at Percy and Moore who were snickering next to them, and her gentle eyes gradually turned cold.

Lu Li nodded obediently and returned to the camp along the same route.

Not long after returning, there was a rustling sound in the grass. Anna, whose skirt was scratched and her arms and calves had bloodshot scratches, ran out in a panic and shouted to Tom and his wife:

"Pasci and Moore fell off a cliff!"

A confused Lu Li stayed in the camp.

Anxious, angry and crying, Tom and his wife ran out with Anna. They couldn't find the child, so they called the police. They took over the campsite, and Tom and his wife searched for the child with them, while Lu Li and Anna were taken to the police station.

.

Lu Li was sitting on the bench, with the teddy bear's head sticking out of the backpack next to him, as if he was peeking here.

Some police officers noticed the little boy sitting on the bench and discussed sending him home first, but every time, Lu Li would say, "I want to wait for Anna."

"She is now a suspect."

"Don't tell your children this..." The companion stopped the police officer.

Lu Li sat alone on a bench, watching people going about their business. It was getting darker and darker outside, and the street lights gradually turned on.

Finally, he saw a tired Anna coming out, grabbing her backpack and jumping off the bench.

"It's okay. The two children were found and a tree caught them." The police officer who followed said to the little boy who had been waiting all day.

Anna hugged Lu Li and returned home together.

As if she was back to her usual self, Anna put on her apron and prepared for dinner. Lu Li, as usual, sat at the dining table and looked at Anna's busy back.

The only thing different from usual is that only Anna is talking.

After dinner, Anna quickly stacked the bowls and said, "Are you scared? Go to bed early today" and walked into the kitchen.

Lu Li quietly climbed off the chair and returned to the room to spread the quilt for himself.

Putting the clothes he took off on the bedside table, Lu Li looked at the door. Not long after, Anna opened the door and walked in.

"Are you waiting for me?" Anna smiled softly, "There is no story today."

"Did you do it when Pacey and Moore fell off the cliff?"

Pure black eyes reflected the silent girl.

"It's not right to do this..."

"Only children distinguish right from wrong."

Anna sat on the edge of the bed, hugged Lu Li, and gently stroked his hair, "I won't let anyone hurt you."

"...I want to hear a story."

A smile reappeared on Anna's face. She helped Lu Li tuck in the quilt and grab the rope of the chandelier.

"You will have a fantasy dream. In the dream, you are carrying a sword, protecting kind and hard-working people, and driving away those bad guys..."

The girl leaned over and kissed the boy's forehead.

"Good night, have sweet dreams."
