24. The end of the banquet

The diary completed part of Lu Li's understanding of the world. At least he knew when "Staying in a Place with Light" appeared and what its cause was.

Closing the diary, after thinking for a while, Lu Li put the diary in his arms. This diary can actually affect those who look at it, so it can be considered a supernatural item.

Lu Li did not intend to follow this line of investigation. The ghost Ruth who lost her eyes had been physically transcended by him, and the "it" described in the diary was not something Lu Li could face. At most, he would kill her at a suitable time.

Give this diary to the police station or night watchman.

Lu Li then opened the other two beds, but unfortunately he couldn't find any clues about the female ghost Athena Leslie.

Lu Li asked the ghost girl on the window sill: "Do you know anything about Athena Leslie?"

The latter shook his head: "I didn't know her until she turned into a ghost. I've only seen her a few times before."

"Can you sense where she is?"

"Well...not nearby."

Lu Li nodded and left the lounge: "Let's go back."

The other two rooms on the second floor are the studio and the warehouse, and there will be no clues there.

It was almost midnight, and in the quiet and dark corridor, Lu Li held an oil lamp, followed by a girl in a white dress who had a slightly unreal figure and was chattering non-stop.

"By the way, what's your name?"

"Land from."

"You look different from other night watchers. They are all afraid of us. Why aren't you afraid?"

"Because it's useless. Fear and impulsiveness will only reduce your rationality and will not be conducive to your actions."

Returning to the corridor on the first floor, they met Athena's ghost again.

"……my child……"

Athena dragged her intestines protruding from her skirt, murmuring the same words, and unconsciously drifted through the corridor.

She absorbed part of Ruth's ghost, and her aura became more powerful than before. A shadow-like outline vaguely appeared behind her, and around the outline, several indescribable twisted tentacles swayed gently.

This dispelled Lu Lilai's stubborn thoughts. Athena was not an ordinary ghost. She might have been close to a wraith. This was something that a new exorcist like him could not deal with.

Fortunately, she didn't show obvious malice like Ruth.

Lu Li leaned against the wall and waited quietly for Athena to pass by. The ghost floated into the light of the oil lamp and disappeared.

"Come out, she left." Lu Li turned his head and said to Anna who was hiding behind him. "Are you also afraid of ghosts?"

Anna put her hands on her hips and said bravely: "Why can't ghosts be afraid of ghosts?"

Lu Li couldn't answer this answer logically, so he chose to remain silent.

Returning to the table next to the door, Lu Li put down the oil lamp and sat in the wooden chair.

Lu Li asked: "Why are you in the oil painting?"

Anna floated in the air, flying left and right like an elf, with a clear and sweet voice: "I don't know, I was inside the painting when I woke up."

"So you are Anna? Or are you a picture named Anna?"

Anna rolled her eyes at Lu Li and said, "What stupid words are you talking about? How could I have those memories of my life if I drew them?"

Lu Li asked some more questions. Although Anna kept complaining, she still answered in detail and seemed a little excited.

Perhaps she had been alone during the time she was living in the oil painting, and every night watcher was extremely afraid of ghosts, let alone talking. Anna liked and enjoyed the time talking with Lu Li very much.

Lu Li subconsciously thought of the sculpture. Maybe there was a reason why it followed him?

Annley Bessie is the founder of Lady Annley Art Gallery, located in Shimfast on the Allen Peninsula, about 200 miles away from Belfast.

There is a strong artistic atmosphere there, and it is a well-known art capital on the Allen Peninsula. Even the common people have some appreciation. However, after the "disaster of the night" described by Anna came, no one cared about art anymore, and galleries and art museums withered away.

Leanna and her daughter also lost their lives due to a disease.

Before her death, Mrs. An Lei handed over the gallery to Benjamin, who pursued art. He did live up to Mrs. An Lei's trust and chose to move the gallery to Belfast, a seaport city with no artistic atmosphere, instead of selling it.

go.

Some employees chose to follow the gallery to Belfast, such as James Campbell, who killed Ruth and was killed by Ruth.

Anna Bessie became conscious or woke up after the gallery moved to Belfast. She was the first ghost to appear in the gallery, the second was the sculpture, and then Ruth and Athena.

"Is Athena a local?"

"Well, she is an employee that Benjamin hired after he came here. I have met her a few times, and those times she worked until night before leaving with an oil lamp. She is a very hard-working little girl, but it's a pity..."

Anna was very timid and afraid of strangers, so she spent a long time hiding in paintings to spy on the outside world after she woke up.

"You only show up after dark?"

"I have to rest during the day." Anna turned back and suddenly tilted her head: "But it seems that I can come out during the day too?"

"Have you never tried it?"

"No... I thought ghosts can only come out at night..." Anna was a little shy. The reason why she rested during the day and appeared at night was just because she had read in ghost novels that "ghosts usually come out at night."

After Anna finished speaking, she began to urge Lu Li to tell his story. She floated to the other side of the table, holding her chin in both hands and looking forward to it.

Lu Li briefly talked about some of his experiences in Belfast, skipping over his identity as an exorcist.

"What about before that?" Anna urged, like a little girl who wants to hear a bedtime story.

"..."

Lu Li was silent.

In the end, Lu Li didn't tell her. Although Anna was a little disappointed, she hid it well. She didn't want to lose Lu Li, her hard-earned friend after becoming a ghost, and the first one.

During the conversation between Lu Li and Anna, time gradually passed.

Outside the harbor, there was a glimmer of light in the deep sea sky, and it was about to dawn.

Anna yawned, and in the middle of her yawn, she realized that Lu Li was watching from the other side. She covered her mouth in embarrassment, her cheeks a little red: "I'm going back to rest."

"Um."

Lu Li rubbed his eyebrows and stood up, sending Anna back to her oil painting.

Anna was spending money, and asked embarrassedly and expectantly: "Will you come back tomorrow?"

"Will do."

Lu Li nodded. He was going to investigate Athena's information during the day and prescribe the right medicine. Only killing one ghost would not get enough reward from the stingy Benjamin.

"Hey." Anna couldn't help but let out a silly laugh, feeling embarrassed and covering her cheeks as she floated back into the oil painting.

She changed into the original posture, her body and eyes were frozen, and the background of the oil painting became the same style.

Lu Li turned off the oil lamp and the surroundings fell into darkness.

A faint white light penetrated the deserted corridor from the window.
