23. Diary of the Dead

The second floor of the gallery.

Lu Li skipped the office and walked to the lounge at the back, with Anna floating behind him.

This scene was very strange. Humans and ghosts got along quite harmoniously. Lu Li somewhat understood what Hades meant by communicating with ghosts.

Ghosts were once human beings before they died, and some may have their temperaments changed drastically due to death, but most ghosts still retain part of the thinking of living people.

For example, Anna.

The same goes for the other two ghosts, but Lu Li couldn't find a way to deal with the ghost without eyes for the time being, so he could only solve it through physical superpower.

The door of the lounge has been knocked open by the ghost, and everything in the room is displayed before your eyes.

A few single beds, a few cabinets and dining tables, nothing else special.

"Do you remember which bed Campbell is in?" Lu Li asked, stepping into the lounge.

Anna floated to the window sill and sat down, gently shaking her calves: "How could I know."

Lu Li walked to the bed closest to the door, reached out and gently pressed it, then suddenly lifted the blanket.

A notebook came into view.

Anna looked surprised.

Lu Li picked up the notebook, shook off the dust and held it under the oil lamp. Without raising his head, he explained: "Men generally tend to hide their secrets under the bed."

The signature on the notebook was James Campbell, and Lu Li got the key props so easily.

"This is the same for girls, too..." Anna stopped shaking her feet and muttered softly.

"Yes, but you will still hide in cabinets, under carpets, behind dressing mirrors, and in dolls." Lu Li opened his notebook and looked away.

【March 6, sunny】

A series of familiar formats jump into view.

Anna on the other side couldn't refute and was so angry that she started to groan.

Diaries are not trustworthy - this sentence is limited to celebrities. Most ordinary people who have experience in writing diaries will write the truest side in their diaries.

At least judging from Lu Li's experience in helping the police solve cases during his time on Earth, it is not uncommon for murderers to write down the motive for the crime and the process of committing the crime in their diaries.

After gathering his thoughts, Lu Li's eyes fell on this diary.

【March 6, sunny】

[Damn weather, those chimneys in the factory can choke people to death. The nobles in the parliament are talking about closing them down. How is this possible?]

——

【March 10, overcast】

[Where does this fog come from? From the sea? Or from an industrial area?]

——

【March 8, overcast】

[Great, I heard that the factory is closing down, and those aristocratic gentlemen have shown rare kindness]

——

【March 10, cloudy】

[Why hasn’t the fog cleared yet? Although it’s not choking people]

——

【March 12, overcast】

[I forgot to write yesterday, but nothing happened. The sky was still very gloomy, as if the fog had reached the sky]

Lu Li quickly turned through the pages, skipping some short and meaningless entries in his diary. At the same time, he noticed that the weather turned cloudy every day after that.

【March 26, overcast】

[What's going on? Why does it feel like there's something in the dark night? When I woke up in the morning, I saw another family dead at home on the street next door...What happened?]

——

【April 1, overcast】

【I...I killed someone...I'm just kidding.】

——

【April 15, overcast】

[Is it the end of the world that the church says has come? Many people have died recently, the clouds have not cleared away, and the Parliament has issued a decree that every household must light lights at night... What is going on here? 】

——

【April 21, overcast】

[What the Parliament said is true! Disaster has come to Belfast! Everyone is talking about staying where there is light. Some people do not light the lights at night to save money. When people find them at home, their bodies are already smelly...

What is in the darkness?】

——

【April 24, overcast】

[Everyone was scared. Duncan even resigned. Poor Duncan, how could he have money to buy kerosene without his job? 】

——

【April 25, overcast】

[Thank God, the price of kerosene has dropped, and the homeless scavengers can hide under the street lights.]

——

【May 1st, overcast】

[Those who left Belfast one after another came back. They said that the road was very dangerous, and that other cities had also become like this. But... only most of them came back. Where did the rest of them go? Or...

…]

【May 5th, overcast】

[She came to me...how could this happen? Isn't she already dead...I know, that's her ghost, she's back, she's here to take revenge!]

The diary ended abruptly here, and Lu Li unconsciously continued to flip through the blank pages.

Obviously, Campbell's statement on April 1 that I killed someone was not a joke.

Wow——

The sound of turning pages suddenly disappeared.

New content appears in the second half of the diary.

It is no longer in diary format, but the writer should be the same person.

[She did it on purpose...she threw me into it, she wanted to take revenge on me...she was hanging on me, killing her, gouging out her eyes...]

[What happened!? Why is everyone, every building, and everything twisted and deformed... Is there something wrong with me? Is it caused by it? 】

Lu Li turned to the second page and noticed that the handwriting was becoming messy.

[They heard me! They were looking for me... They saw me! They wanted to touch me... I have to hide and not be touched. Once I am touched...]

From here on, he began to have problems with his sanity. Just like the twisted world he described, the words he wrote turned into deformed limbs, distorted and spread, struggling to break away from the words, and grabbing at the people who read the diary.

Lu Li frowned, ignoring the negative effects of the font, and focused all his attention on distinguishing each word.

[Yes...it did it. Everything was getting better when I got close to it...I knew...it was urging me...it was calling me...it was it that did all this...it was letting me

go back……】

[I know those are houses, they are made of wood, I know it very well. But when those fleshy masses that are several meters high and spread on both sides of the long street are covered with limbs, slimy, squirming and waving... I get closer to it little by little, and I can only get closer.

It can keep thinking...Dad, mom, what should I do...]

[I am struggling to keep thinking, I need money, and I can’t lose this job. In my eyes, Benjamin and his colleagues are just lumps of meat that make strange noises... I try my best not to show disgust and disgust.]

[I can't hold it anymore... I have to stick to it to stay sane... This is the last content, I'm going in. If anyone reads this diary, please remember - stay away from it. When you listen

When you get to it, they can see you. When you see it, they can touch you. Never touch them... never... the door is open.]

【It came to me】

The writing stops abruptly here.

What follows is a bunch of messy and meaningless English words.

Lu Li reluctantly pieced together a pronunciation from this string of words:... Laye...

He didn't read it out. Usually in horror movies, bad things will happen when words of unknown origin are read out - Lu Li knew this very well.
