13. Farewell to Jimmy Brothers and Sisters

No matter how safe the slum boasts, it is ultimately a more sinful and gloomy place than other places.

The last time Lu Li experienced this scene was also in the slums, but the robbers changed from three children to two young men.

And there is one thing the same.

"You don't look like gangsters."

Lu Li took out the shillings from his coat pocket. In addition to Jimmy's brother and sister's deposit, there were also several hundred shillings he had with him.

Mike craned his neck and looked at it with an expression on his face, while Virgil stood aside and waited honestly - he was even afraid that Lu Li would misunderstand and throw away the stick.

In the end, Mike did not ask for more money. He walked up to the carriage and took the 20 shillings from Lu Li. He flicked it and whistled: "Of course we are not. Thank you for your generosity, sir.

Have a nice afternoon."

"Virgil, let's go."

Mike was not as relaxed as he imagined. He was worried that Lu Li would come back to cause trouble. He walked into the dark alley not far away as Virgil muttered, "We should remember his name and repay him when we get rich later..."

.

"Repay? Are you kidding? Do you still want to come back here?"

Walking into the dark alley, Mike put away the 20 shillings he had grabbed and threw away the wooden stick: "Give up, this place will be occupied by monsters soon. Only the Lennon Islands are safe."

"What should we do now? Continue to rob passers-by?" Virgil asked hesitantly.

"With you?" Mike deliberately shouted in an exaggerated and mocking tone: "I thought we were homeless kids on the street, begging for money from kindhearted people."

"Then where can we make money to redeem our boat tickets?"

Mike stretched out his 20 shillings, narrowed his eyes and said, "Of course you can earn it wherever you lose it."

"You're going to gamble again!" Virgil shouted, going around to the front of the alley to block Mike's way. "You just lost our boat tickets and all our money!"

"That's why we have to earn back the money and the tickets!"

Mike raised a finger, licked his lips and said, "Listen, we only have this one chance. Not everyone is as generous and easy to talk to as the gentleman just now. Who knows what will happen to the next target, I don't want to be caught at this time

Those hunting dogs were caught in the police station and left to die. I don’t think you want to do bad things, right? Man, look over there! The wealth and beauties of the Lennon Islands are waiting for us!”

Virgil looked in the direction Mike pointed, but outside the alley there were only dilapidated streets with sewage flowing across them.

"I didn't see anything," Virgil said.

Mike lost his last patience and pushed Virgil away forcefully: "If you regret it, get out of here and I'll go by myself!"

Virgil leaned against the wall, and Mike walked out of the way and out of the alley.

He was so angry that he decided to ignore the stupid pig-like Virgil again.

"You have soiled my clothes. Your mother knitted them herself."

From behind came Virgil's honest mutter as he followed.

Mike, who was about to reach the end of the alley, stopped helplessly, turned around and poked Virgil in the chest and said, "You are not allowed to speak without my permission. I don't want others to think we are fools."

"Not even a word?"

"Yes! Not even a word!"

Taking Virgil, who finally calmed down, Mike returned to the slums that the locals called "the inner area".

Standing at the Black Mamba Casino, Mike took a deep breath and faced the joking eyes of the two strong men in front of the door as he walked into the noisy casino filled with the sour smell of sweat.

"Go and play whatever you want, don't bother me."

In exchange for 4 chips, Mike gave one to Virgil and pushed him away, ducking into the crowd to avoid following him.

He lingered in front of the gambling table, and he did not dare to make up his mind because of the three chips and all his wealth. Finally, he gritted his teeth and stopped in front of a dice gambling table, and bet all his wealth, 15 shillings, on it.

Wow – Wow –

The dice in the dice box began to shake and fly up and down. Mike stared closely at the shaking dice box and kept saying "big" silently in his heart.

Snap!

The dice box fell on the table where a pile of chips, shillings and jewelry were piled up. Under the gaze of more than a dozen people surrounding it, the dice box was opened.

There were sighs of annoyance and cheers of excitement at the same time.

It's small...

The dejected Mike looked at the gambling table and dice absentmindedly, not knowing what to do.

At this moment, a burst of exclamations and shouts suddenly broke out from the gaming table next door.

Mike looked at it blankly, and vaguely heard that someone foolishly chose the largest 18 points, and he guessed it correctly.

Mike knew he was dreaming, but he did imagine that it was Virgil who did it, and he squeezed towards the gaming table next door as if grasping at a life-saving straw.

He saw Virgil surrounded in the center.

It's actually true!

Mike pushed his way through the crowd, excitedly grabbed Virgil's shoulder and shouted to the surrounding gamblers and guests: "He is my brother, this is my brother!"

He shook Virgil vigorously and shouted excitedly: "Why don't you speak? Oh my God, you can speak Virgil! We are rich! We are going to the Lennon Islands!!!"

Looking at the gambling table, the shillings and gold and silver jewelry stacked on it were at least several thousand shillings. Not only did they redeem the boat tickets, they could also earn thousands of shillings!

Outside the center of the hustle and bustle, in the shadows of the corner, two silhouettes looked over.

In the darkness, the pipe flickered with alternating light and dark fire.

"They are strangers, not from here?" A deep voice sounded.

"Same as the out-of-towners passing by recently." Another voice replied.

"The Black Mamba's money is not allowed to be taken out of here."

"I know."

One of the figures stepped out of the shadows, leaving only the slowly lit fire of the pipe.

On the other side, excited Mike and Virgil redeemed their tickets and planned to leave the casino with valuable loot.

If he met that generous gentleman, Mike considered giving him 40 shillings back and proudly said: "Pay back double."

But everything ended when they were stopped by several strong men as they were about to leave the casino.

The strong smell of blood wafted from the bald man at the front.

This is not some kind of intuition, but the smell of their dirty vests stained with blood.

Mike grabbed the silly Virgil, looked at them warily and deliberately said loudly in a voice that could be heard by everyone around him: "What are you going to do! Don't allow the guests who have won money to leave?!"

The surrounding noise decreased, and all passengers looked here and consciously made a circle of space.

"It's just that a customer said he saw your brother stealing chips. We need to confirm." The bald man replied lazily.

Mike breathed a sigh of relief: "Chips? Of course we didn't steal the chips."

But there was some hesitation in his heart.

That idiot Virgil has done this before. If he really stole the casino chips this time...

Damn idiot!

Mike cursed in his mind.
