9. Emerging Homecoming

Wooden sign, support frame, mine cave.

The appearance of human traces meant that Lu Li had truly escaped from the unknown underground area.

Lu Li could go straight back to the surface along the mine.

If the mine didn't collapse.

Apparently this mine named Clariant has been abandoned for a long time, or mine No. 13 has been abandoned——

The mine tunnel is full of collapsed support structures and road-blocking earth and rocks. No miner dares to work in this environment.

The only good thing was that the collapse did not block the mine, and there was still a gap for Lu Li to pass through.

An old kerosene lamp hung on the wall, which had long since dried up and could no longer be used, Lu Li could only illuminate the mine at the cost of burning his humanity.

Mine No. 13 is indeed an abandoned mine.

Lu Li thought after seeing the wooden sign marking Mine No. 12.

Although Mine No. 12 is still dilapidated, horrific collapses are no longer common.

Lu Li extinguished the lighthouse in front of the wooden sign and let darkness cover his whole body. Without the chilling peeks and whispers, the evil spirits still had no influence here.

The underground is safer than above, but harder to survive.

The city of "previous generations" used to be an environment without flaws. The magma sea brought light, warmth and fuel, and the underground river provided water and food for survival.

But everything is destroyed when the two collide.

Mine No. 12 connects to Mine No. 11 and a forked mine without a wooden sign.

Maybe someone removed the wooden sign, or maybe the mine hasn't had time to be named yet.

The length of the mine is about 600 meters, and it takes ten minutes to walk. During this period, Lu Li had to keep burning his humanity and keep the lighthouse bright, otherwise it would be difficult to observe the changes at the edge of the mine.

For example, a fork in the road.

The dull sound of footsteps echoed in the dark and silent mine.

Without shoes, the gravel-covered ground made the soles of my feet painful and it was difficult to pick up speed.

The endless and narrow underground mine tunnel was unsettling, but for Lu Li, it was more comfortable than the deep underground.

The end of Mine No. 11 is not Mine No. 10, but Mine No. 9. Mine No. 10 is a mine extending in the other direction.

This means that Lu Li does not have to walk from No. 13 to No. 1, and the ground is closer than imagined.

But in Mine No. 8, Lu Li was blocked by a "wall".

The flat black stone completely blocked the mine, and the obsidian-like dark surface of the rock felt familiar to Lu Li.

It's a deep sea stone.

The wall thickness was more than one meter, and Lu Li knew of only two places where deep sea stones were used extravagantly.

The deep-sea stone mountains and shelters. The ghost prison was once included, but it has been demolished and became Lu Li's property.

The deep-sea stone mountain is located in the deep sea, the shelter is underground, and the mine is also underground——

Lu Li looked at the stone wall again and found an inconspicuous gap, which vaguely formed the outline of a door.

He put his shoulders against the stone door and tried to push the deep sea stone.

There are rollers at the bottom of the stone door to help it roll. The stone door, which weighs several thousand pounds, slowly sinks into the back of the wall, revealing a dark gap.

Carrying the lighthouse, Lu Li walked sideways into the space surrounded by stone walls in the deep sea.

The ground under your feet is paved with thick deep-sea stones, and so are the walls - this underground space is surrounded by deep-sea stones as a rectangular box.

The top dozens of meters high were made of luminous fluorite that Lu Li had seen before. It was slightly different in that they were not inlaid on the top, but were installed in groups in lampshades and hung like chandeliers under the tiled dome of deep sea stones.

But they are too far away for the light to reach the ground.

The ground vaguely revealed a silent silhouette covered with black gauze, as if it were a moonless night.

In the corners of the space, the clusters of houses are conspicuous and abrupt.

This is a refuge.

Lu Li turned his head and looked around the stone door. The bracket that was supposed to be a latch to block the sliding stone door was left aside and no one cared about it.

The shelter seems to be undefended, or... abandoned.

There was no light coming from the cluster of houses, and the whole shelter was silent.

Lu Li, who was near the building complex, confirmed this. The stone brick road paved on the deep sea stone was clean and tidy, and there was no one in the house.

Squeak——

Lu Li pushed open a wooden door on the side of the road that had been dusty for an unknown period of time. There was no dust in the shelter, so it was difficult to tell how long it had been abandoned.

The lighthouse illuminates the hut, and thin dust floats around the edge of the light.

The dining table by the window, the bookshelf and wardrobe by the wall, the bed and bedside table in the corner.

Lu Li opened the closet and found it was empty.

Why do shelter residents want to leave?

Lu Li looked around. Everything here was kept in order, and there was no mess caused by a sudden departure. Even the sheets on the bed were neatly pulled up - the residents of the shelter had time to make their beds when they left.

Where did the shelter residents go?

Lu Li showed patience at this time and searched each wooden house.

Although some rooms are very messy, with bedding piled up haphazardly or chairs dumped aside, they are more like the sloppiness of the owners than most of them are orderly.

In a certain room, Lu Li found a gray linen coat in the closet and put it on. In another room diagonally opposite, Lu Li found a pair of shoes of the right size under the bed.

Lu Li found clothes in a few more houses, but they were all women's clothes or did not fit well and were not washed, so they were abandoned by Lu Li.

While carrying the lighthouse and searching for clues, Lu Li was also thinking about what he saw after waking up.

Friday between fantasy and reality, an epic adventure in the underground world, located in the shelter of the mine.

Thinking of Friday, Lu Li was still not sure whether she existed, and could only hope that it was not the "door" to find him.

The underground world undergoes a ritual that coincidentally resembles the rope of the gods, but in the underground where evil spirits cannot affect it, can the remaining power of the rope of the gods be able to do this?

Is Nasram Araya who was excavated into the temple a resident of the Vault?

It seems that nothing can be traced back to the real answer.

Only the refuge truly exists beneath your feet.

Wow——

Opening the desk drawer, a pen and notebook swayed with the drawer.

Thinking he had found a clue, Lu Li took out his notebook and opened it. The handwriting on it was crooked and it was just a diary written by a child.

After flipping through a few pages, there was no content. Lu Li put it in his pocket for the time being, no longer wasting his humanity, and turned around to walk towards the exit of the shelter on the other side.

The door of the shelter was open, with dust and messy footprints scattered around the edge.

At this time, there was a faint sound of approaching sounds and light spots deep in the mine.

"Help!"

A woman's cry for help rang out from the shaking light, and she spotted Lu Li behind the door.

The lighthouse shines brightly, illuminating the running figure and the strange noise behind her.

Lu Li immediately pushed the sliding stone door and moved towards the gap.

"don't want--"

The woman exclaimed, only to find a gap left in the stone door. She ran over and squeezed through the gap to enter the shelter.

Lu Li then pushed the stone door.

The woman who was still escaping turned around and found Lu Li pushing open the door, and shouted hurriedly: "The door can't stop those monsters, run!"

After the words fell, an illusion, a huge cockroach-like phantom passed through the deep sea stone, solidified its body in front of Lu Li, raised its two-meter-long sharp sickle limb high and pierced Lu Li's chest, piercing through Lu Li as easily as through paper, dripping.

The bloody sickle tip penetrated from behind——

"Damn it!"

The woman cursed lowly and saw the mantis abandoning the man and chasing after her, fleeing to a group of houses in the distance.
