In the middle of the endless fields waiting for the autumn harvest, there is a dense forest. From a distance, the green area is not big, but it looks so special and prominent among the autumn colors. I think if it is the winter season, when everything
When withered, this green will be more able to show its vitality.
I have always felt that the location of temples is very unique, either on the top of a mountain or in a secluded wilderness, but this temple is a little different. It is located in the middle of a large flat land. Perhaps, it
What I am seeking is to achieve tranquility in the midst of chaos, and what I am cultivating is the kind of positive fruit that is difficult for ordinary people to achieve. Hard meditation, bitter meditation, I seem to understand that only by being able to truly achieve tranquility in the midst of chaos can we achieve the highest level of cultivation in Buddhism, right? Because
Practicing meditation in such a place requires overcoming more demonic intrusions.
After leaving the main road, it turned into a gravel road. The car felt a little bumpy when driving on it. From this, I can imagine how dilapidated the temple is.
Entering the forest in front, a green aroma came to my face. This is the smell of fresh air, the unique smell of green plants and trees. But the road in front of me is already a cement road, and the car is driving
I felt very stable when I was on it. From this, I suddenly felt that the section of road I just passed was intentional. Maybe the monks of this temple deliberately made this place into an illusion of paradise. If so.
If this is the case, I think it is unnecessary, because I think the most perfect thing in anything should be nature, and letting nature take its course is the best.
The car was driving in the quietness of the road, and I suddenly felt refreshed. I couldn't help but lightly step on the accelerator to slow down the car. It's rare to see such green in the city, and it's even rarer to have such air. I was immediately tempted.
Not long after driving on the forest path, my eyes suddenly opened up. A temple with a simple appearance suddenly appeared in front of me. The apricot-yellow courtyard walls, the blue-gray temple ridge, and the pale green towering ancient trees were all bathed in the autumn colors.
.It makes people feel its mystery and majesty. Today is not the weekend, but there are not many people here, and many cars have been parked in the courtyard in front of the temple. Only now did I realize that I was in the woods just now.
At that time, I could already smell the scent of sandalwood, which was mixed with the fresh green air.
I stopped the car and looked up at the plaque of the temple. I saw that the three golden characters "Kuchen Temple" were so strong and powerful, and they had an extraordinary momentum. Fortunately, these characters had a black background, so
It weakened the flying momentum of those few words. I don’t know calligraphy, but those few words gave me such a feeling.
Then enter the temple.
I heard from Sun Lulu's mother that when she first entered the temple, she met the monk who told her fortune, so I started looking around as soon as I entered.
In front of him were all the faces of ordinary people, their expressions were indifferent and serious, and few of them were laughing. After searching around, he couldn't find the shadow of the person he was looking for.
The temple is full of pilgrims, and there are almost no monks. Does it really need a chance?
So I stopped being anxious and started walking around with the people offering incense.
This temple has a history of at least hundreds of years, which can be seen from the thickness of the trees inside. The temple can be renovated, but the trees inside are the best witness.
Inside the main hall is a place to kowtow and make wishes. I went to kowtow with other believers, men and women. When we arrived here, I felt solemn, as if a certain kind of faith came to me in an instant. Perhaps the most important thing is that I don’t dare to
Disrespectful. The tall Bodhisattva statue in front of you exerts a huge pressure on your soul.
When I started to kowtow, I realized that I had forgotten to make a wish, so I kowtowed to the Bodhisattva inexplicably. I even forgot to tell him what I had entrusted him to do. I only remembered that my mind went blank when I kowtowed.
Just as he was about to leave, he heard a dull voice, "Donor, please do whatever you want to do."
I looked sideways and found a monk in the darkness on the right. He was holding a gavel. Under the gavel was a huge wooden fish. I was stunned, and then I found that the man who had kowtowed just now was pointing towards me.
Fifty yuan was put into the merit box, and the monk immediately knocked the wooden fish three times. The next pilgrim put 100 yuan into the merit box, and the monk knocked six times!
I couldn't help laughing and said, "Master, how much merit do I need to meet your abbot?"
"Allow the donor to do as you wish," the monk said, expressionless.
"Can two thousand people see your abbot?" I asked.
He said nothing.
"What about five thousand? Is that okay?" I continued to ask.
He then recited: "Amitabha, donor, come with me."
I was overjoyed, but also shocked: Isn’t this too cheap?
The monk took me to a secluded place, which was a row of low buildings. He knocked on the door, and an old voice immediately came from inside, "What's the matter?"
The monk said: "Uncle Abbot, there is a donor who wants to see you."
"Oh, please invite him in." The voice inside said in a calm voice.
The monk turned to look at me, and his eyes immediately moved to my waist. Of course I understood what he meant, so I smiled at him and said, "Don't worry, I will definitely make a lot of merits."
He left. I entered the house, and at the same time I felt a little emotional: Although this place is just as secular, it is a little more trustworthy.
After entering, I found that the furnishings in the house were simple and spotless. There was a bed, a bookcase, a coffee table, and several futons. There was a pot of tea on the coffee table. That was all.
Of course, there was an old monk sitting cross-legged on a futon inside. He was looking at me kindly.
"Master." I went to him and said respectfully. At this moment, I suddenly felt the same kind of awe that I had when I was in the main hall just now.
"Donor, please sit down." He smiled at me.
I went to the futon and sat down cross-legged, imitating his example, and then looked at him, only to find that his eyes had been closed, as if he was seated.
There was a sudden silence in the room. I thought to myself, I can't meditate like him, right? I didn't come here to meditate. After thinking about it, I took out all the cash and put it on the coffee table in front of me.
There was about more than 10,000 yuan, "Master Abbot, this is my merit. I came in a hurry today and didn't prepare too much cash. Please forgive me."
"It's better to take these vulgar things outside. What does the donor want from me?" he finally spoke.
I hurriedly said: "One of my elders met an eminent monk when she came to your temple to offer incense. The eminent monk deduced her fate as soon as he saw her. I heard this elder say that
I was very shocked after the incident, so I came here specifically to visit the master. Master Abbot, please tell me if I can meet with the master. I will definitely do more good deeds to repay my wish."
He suddenly opened his eyes, "It turns out that the donor didn't come to discuss Zen principles with the poor monk."
I suddenly became anxious and said, "I'm sorry, I don't know anything about Zen. I just want to meet the master."
"Our temple is in dilapidated condition. Where did the master come from?" He smiled faintly.
His words immediately made me embarrassed. At the same time, I seemed to understand the meaning of his words, so I said: "Master Fang is of course a master, but you have profound Buddhist knowledge and may not be involved in things like life prediction. I am very worried."
I am ashamed. I have no intention of praying to the Buddha. I just want to ask for one thing. Master Abbot, please forgive me. I am a doctor and I also have the heart to save the world, but my heart to save the world is different from that of Buddhism. Master Abbot, please forgive me for saving people.
For the sake of countless things, please grant my request. Although I am not very wealthy, I still have very few assets. I said that I will definitely donate money to your temple to fulfill my wish when it comes to fruition."
"The donor is too worldly. Although our temple is in dilapidated condition, it only accepts people who are destined for it." He smiled faintly.
I was very dissatisfied. From the moment the monk asked me to make merit, I knew that this place was just a vulgar place after all. So I said calmly: "The Buddha said that all living beings can be saved. The Buddha also said that Buddha has a destiny to save all sentient beings.
Master, then people who have no destiny will not be saved? In this case, how can we talk about saving all sentient beings?"
But he was still smiling faintly, "The donor also said he didn't understand Zen. This is a very good question. The Buddha is compassionate, and he is willing to use his compassion to save all living beings, but there is a problem that the Buddha cannot solve.
Whatever sentient beings do, the Buddha can only tell every sentient being the truth without reservation and equally. The key depends on whether the sentient beings do it or not. If the sentient beings have no predestined relationship with the Buddha and do not listen to or believe in Buddhist principles, the Buddha has nothing to do.
So when we say that the Buddha saves people who are destined to be saved, in fact, the real salvation is not that the Buddha saves people, but that he saves himself by applying Buddhist principles. The Buddha wishes to save all sentient beings, but it still depends on whether the sentient beings are willing to be saved."
He spoke for such a long time, and I was confused, but I understood his last sentence clearly, and I immediately knew that my understanding was indeed biased. But I didn't want to discuss the so-called Zen theory with him, because
I found that what he just said drew me to Zen philosophy again, and I immediately thought of the female police officer, so I thought to myself: It seems that the old abbot is also very lonely. He finally caught me today and not only accepted me
Money, and also want to talk about addiction.
"Master Abbot, can you let that master meet with me?" I still went straight to the topic.
"The donor is impetuous and too realistic. No wonder he only looks at the present and ignores the long term when doing things. It's sad, pathetic. Hey! Tell me, what does the master you mentioned look like?" He asked me with a sigh.
I hurriedly repeated to him the words described by Sun Lulu's mother.
He suddenly became thoughtful, and after a while he said: "There seems to be such a monk in our temple, but he is not a master, he is just a sweeping monk."
I suddenly thought of the sweeping monk in Jin Yong's novel "The Eight Parts of the Dragon". You know, that monk is a real eminent monk who hides his secrets and is unknown. (To be continued)
